CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL - TUESDAY 12th - FRIDAY 15th MARCH 2019

The offers I am planning to take advantage of are:-

  • Skybet - money back as cash if you lose - up to £20 - 1st Race every day of the festival. Expected Value: £16 per day, £64 in total
  • betway - if your horse loses in the first or last race at Cheltenham each day, we’ll refund you with a Free Bet up to £/€10 in each race. Expected Value: £6 per race, £48 in total
  • Ladbrokes - £1 free bet each day of the festival. Expected Value: £0.70 per race, £2.80 in total
  • William Hill - I have a few £5 free bets already set up which should credit to be used on Tuesday.
  • Matchbook- £20 free bet sign up offer.

I'm interested in the extra place offers offered by Betfred & Paddy Power but don't think I know enough about horse racing to do these and also I will only be online early morning and evenings after 9pm. Also the double winnings at Coral are interesting. I wish I understood the offers at Betfair Sportsbook & Exchange as these are probably good too. I might look into all these a bit more.

I've discounted using Racebets and Sportspesa as they have bad reviews and/or are super quick to gub. I didn't get the Bet365 offer Sad or I'd be taking full advantage of that!

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm feeling a bit bamboozled, so much so that I'm just want to close the laptop down and run away and forget the whole thing is happening! So to keep my sanity, I'm probably going to choose just a few good offers as listed above and concentrate on those and maybe some Cheltenham casino offers too. I'm aware there's stacks of cash to be made though, hopefully you are going for the big £££! That being said, I'd absolutely love your tips and to hear your plans so thay we can make some money together! It's also be interesting to know targets. Mine is £250 for the week but this will include weekly stuff (bet clubs, price boosts, darts) and also casino.

If anyone has bet as a matched bettor at Cheltenham before, I (and am sure everyone!) would be grateful for your advice and help so please post!

I'm exhausted! Been prepping for tomorrow, placed a few of the free bets already but for the offers I'm waiting until tomorrow because the odds should be better/closer. I've emptied £3k out of a savings account to boost my exchange balance for the week else the Bet365 offer could wipe me out if a horse wins. Two £50 bets a day is approx £500 liability at the current odds.

Coppermine · 12/03/2019 00:09

Me too! I've just saved lots of different oddsmatcher filters as I can use that much quicker than the racing matcher , I considered placing some tonight but the odds still aren't very close so will check in the morning.

Anyone else feel like it's Christmas Eve? 🎄 🎅🏻 😂😂

alwaysncxx · 12/03/2019 00:13

I have no idea which horses to pick or what types of bet to do Sad

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/03/2019 04:58

Always, if nothing else place a £20 on the first race of each day on Skybet. If it loses you get the £20 back anyway, if it wins then you get the winnings. You cannot lose. However as a matched bettor, find a horse which gives a small qualifying loss and lay it then you’ll definitely come out with a profit. It’s quite rare to get a money back as cash offer rather than money back as a free bet so this is a particularily good offer.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/03/2019 05:01

I think I’m going to prioritise extra places today otherwise I can’t see I’m going to make the sort of money other people are talking about.! I’m at work but back home at 3.00 so I’ll do what I can then.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/03/2019 06:25

Always Are you using oddsmonkey or profit accumulator? Heads and heads have some free training pages.

There’s a way of locking in £64 from the sky offer on oddsmonkey.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/03/2019 06:43

Gah, have been gubbed by Coral, they’re only allowing me to place £2.50 maximum bets.

YesQueen · 12/03/2019 06:52

If it helps, this is my list!

Coral win bonus calculator £25
Sky bet risk free calculator or punt £20
365 £25 FB normal calculator
Check WH for FBs
Betway £10 risk free calculator

Golden0ldie · 12/03/2019 08:30

Anyone simply punting £20 for Skybet offer? £20 cash back guaranteed if you lose and if you win, you could be up a few pounds depending on what odds you took. Am I right?

Fairyliz · 12/03/2019 08:31

Good luck everyone fingers crossed. Although if we have done the calculations correctly it should be maths not luck!

Coppermine · 12/03/2019 08:39

Golden0ldie that is a strategy some people are taking but I can't turn down a guaranteed £60+ profit so I'm laying them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/03/2019 09:10

So,

Sky £16
WH £3 if loses/£5 if it wins. Underlayed
32Red 91p quail loss, £10 bet if it loses.

Can’t login to star sports and password recovery not working 🤬 I should have a £25 free bet with them. Bastards. Emailed customer services.

walkingintherain23 · 12/03/2019 11:06

Can I join you? My list is the same as yours @YesQueen plus Ladbrokes free £1 bet each day. Feeling incredibly nervous with the huge liability, must have checked each bets backed and layed a million times already!

YesQueen · 12/03/2019 11:24

@Golden0ldie I've punted one Wink and also 2 x £5 free bets I had. Saved me some liability 😂

misstiggiwinkle · 12/03/2019 11:41

@Fluffycloudland77 how are you locking in £64? I can only get c.£14??

misstiggiwinkle · 12/03/2019 11:42

I've got something like 18 bets on for the first two races, more to place through the afternoon but my exchange is empty so need some losing horses!!

thefavourite · 12/03/2019 12:22

@misstiggiwinkle - I think Fluffy means £64 throughout 4 day festival from that offer.

What a morning. I think I'm done. I have pretty much hated every second though and have learnt that I don't cope well under that kind of stress & pressure. I have the beginnings of a migraine from looking at calculators and screens and spreadsheets. I also feel really guilty that I've punted my wild child off to nursery so that Mummy can bet!

I've got bets on with Sky, Bethard, Coral, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes. I also used my free bets at William Hill. I was going to do Moplay £20 TB/£10 FB but odds were shite, £4-£5 loss for a £10 FB that would make £7-£7.50? And it would need £100s tied up at the Exchange. I have a runner in 5 of the 7 races today with Paddy Power hoping to get at least 1 x 2nd, 3rd or 4th place but ran out of liability for the rest. In some races the lowest odds horse is 9.0! The offers I havent had the understanding, time or bankroll to do are annoying me though, William Hill extra places, Betfred and Betfair offers all looked good.

I'm missing a free bet at BFSB but going to leave chasing it until the end of the week as per TP Tom instructions.

I've made around £50-£70 today. This discrepancy is use to the fact I underlayed Coral so if Al Dancer wins the SNHs, I'll make another £21.50.

Goals for next year (yes, already!)

  • Book time off work/child free time
  • Larger bankroll/liability (here's me thinking £1.5k would be sufficient!)
  • Understand extra places

DonkeyScramble · 12/03/2019 13:27

Lesson from today - place the bets much nearer to the race start as the odds are waaaaay closer than they were at 8am this morning!

Fairyliz · 12/03/2019 13:55

OMG nearly had a heart attack. Logged into Betfair at 13.20 to check my lay bets on the 13.30 and they had all disappeared! Watched race on tv and of course my horse lost (so lay bets should have won).

Logged back into Betfair and money was in my account as expected phew!
Apparently the sites especially exchange can go funny just before race.

YesQueen · 12/03/2019 14:04

My horse has been very patient as I stopped mid ride to place a bet 😂😂

thefavourite · 12/03/2019 14:11

Won a 4th place with Fakir so a £10 FB from Paddy Power- good start!

OP posts:
misstiggiwinkle · 12/03/2019 14:32

Help, I'm due a £50 fb from bet365 as my horse in the last race won. Needs to be used on the next race but it hasn't come through and no one answering live chat - what to do?!

miltonroad · 12/03/2019 15:10

I don’t think it’s a free bet but a risk free one so you have to use your own money but get it refunded if you lose. You can use a risk free calc or go snr with it

YesQueen · 12/03/2019 15:16

Bet 365 is the free bet one
