Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

@Armdjm to be honest the worst part was that they used a metal speculum 😳 so much more uncomfortable than the plastic ones! 🤣 They didn't scan, but I'm going Friday morning. I really hope that's the last of it. It's been such a long drawn out process!

To be honest I have never stopped bleeding 🙄🙄 it's been super light, but annoying hahaha. I didn't get some cramps yesterday, but I just attributed it to the metformin as they can cause side effects like that!

I'm going to test again today.

It was a vvfl. The type you would post on here and ask for line eyes opinions 🤣🤣 xx

Armdjm · 25/07/2024 07:22

@CJHR18 oh wow I didn’t even know they did metal ones 🙈

I really hope that was the last of it for you! It really is the longest most drawn out process ever.

hopefully if you test today or the next couple of days that’s the line totally gone!

I got quite a light test last night but I had drank a lot of water so I’m going to test again tomorrow and see how it’s doing! Monday is my official test at the 3 week mark but at the minute I just can’t see that line being completely gone!

Fingers crossed for you! How was your test this morning? Some how mine was darker this morning 🙈🙈

Hi everyone, haven't posted in a while but I've been following your journeys, thank you for sharing. I'm a bit earlier on my journey, I had my MVA on Tuesday this week. It went fine apparently, the general anesthetic and fentanyl wow! Very surreal but mostly glad it's done. Still bleeding but lightly. Some cramps but I felt fine yesterday so I'm back at work today. Although I'm feeling a bit more wobbly today emotionally.
They told me to test in 3 weeks and let them know if I'm still positive. Trying hard not to test right away!

Armdjm · 25/07/2024 12:29

@CJHR18 ee that is dark isn’t it if your previous ones were squinters! Mine are getting lighter this was yesterday and today. I just have a feeling that faint line will still be there come Monday!

hopefully yours being darker might be if they’ve removed things it might be a rush of hormone or something? I have no idea! At least you have your scan on Friday!

@WildFinch I'm glad you’re not feeling too bad! I was shocked at the recovery I was expecting to be in a lot more discomfort!

I had a big emotional wobble around 2-3 days after my op! I think it’s just hormone related and maybe it hitting me also

Sooo sac and feutal pole are still there 🙈🙈🙈

I actually burst out laughing when they told me.

Sac still measuring 22mm feutal pole 6 weeks and 2 days.

Eee I can't cope

Armdjm · 26/07/2024 15:00

@CJHR18 oh god you’re joking!! So what happens now?

What?! I'm so sorry to hear this @CJHR18 :( would surgical management be an option? This must be so tough for you.

CJHR18 · 26/07/2024 18:12

@Armdjm @WildFinch They only gave me the two options: medical or surgical.

I've went for medical again as I'm really scared about scar tissue! I'm going back in to hospital on Tuesday. Fun!!!

They said the sac was starting to collapse, but everything was measuring the exact same size as my scan 4 weeks ago.

I honestly can't believe that this has happened 🙈🙈

Armdjm · 26/07/2024 18:39

@CJHR18 i don’t even understand how that happens! I understand there’s a risk of something remaining but for everything to be the same!

Ee bless you man! Are you doing the medical in hospital again?

OP posts:
CJHR18 · 26/07/2024 22:18

Yeah I'm doing it in hospital again, so they can make sure the sac has passed. I mean they did an excellent job with that last time 😬

Sac was 22mm and fetal pole was 6.2mm.

Here's me thinking my experience was OK after hearing some right misoprostol horror stories! Hopefully it's not too bad this time round 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Armdjm · 27/07/2024 09:58

@CJHR18 ee I’m so sorry this has happened! It makes you wonder what even passed last time!!

I have some digital tests coming today and going to take one Monday morning because my lines are all over the place they keep getting so light you have to squint then the next day they’re back being clearly there so I thought I’ll do a digital Monday morning and just go off what it says because that’s the day I have to ring EPU!

Armdjm · 29/07/2024 13:00

Well I finally got my negative so I dont need to call the hospital today! It feels so bittersweet, such a strange feeling.

now just have to wonder when on earth my periods will return 😅 if anyone has any input on when theirs returned?

OP posts:
Bellebg · 29/07/2024 13:08

@Armdjm have been checking in on this thread once and a while to see how you’re doing. It feels odd to say congrats to a negative pregnancy test but pleased that you’ve made it to this point! It’s such an odd feeling desperately wanting a negative test after a positive isn’t it.

My period returned 8 weeks and 4 days after my MVA 😬 which felt like a lifetime. I read loads of forums and asked around a lot and most people got there’s around 4-6 weeks by the looks of things.

I’ve just had the first ttc again and now I don’t think I’m ovulating again yet - haven’t had any significant bbt rise so the fun continues 😅

Hope you’re doing ok x

Armdjm · 29/07/2024 13:11

@Bellebg the strangest feeling! The relief when I saw those words ‘not pregnant’ was so strange! Just feels like the end of a very long process doesn’t it.

I’ve started re testing my ovulation just to see what’s going on leading up to having a period. My cycles were so long anyway I just have a feeling this will have made them even more irregular/long!

I hope you’re doing okay!

Bellebg · 29/07/2024 13:13

It really does. Keeping my fingers crossed for you as you move into the next stage!

Armdjm · 29/07/2024 13:47

@Bellebg Thank you! Wishing you lots of luck in your TTC journey as well! Here’s hoping we all update in the months to come with happy news!

Bellebg · 29/07/2024 14:29

Thank you @Armdjm and right back at you. Chat to you in a few months and hopefully we’ll both be celebrating 🤞🏼

Confusedmermaid1 · 30/07/2024 15:16

@Armdjm glad you’ve got your negative, I’m hopeful for hearing some good news for you soon 🤞🏼

Mine was still positive so I had a blood test today and it’s dropped from about 16,000 3 weeks ago to 150 so they think it’s just taking time to work it’s way out.. got to test again next week.

I’m just so glad it’s not looking likely that I need further intervention!

WildFinch · 30/07/2024 22:21

@CJHR18 how did today go?

I'm a week post-MVA, still experiencing sharp pains but did think the spotting was finally stopping today until this evening when I've had a lot of bleeding, anyone else experienced this? When did it stop for you? I also did a pregnancy test which was much fainter than before but still positive. It definitely feels strange waiting for a negative now :(

Armdjm · 30/07/2024 22:29

@CJHR18 Been thinking of you today! Update us when you’re ready!

@WildFinch I had lots of bleeding and large clots 3/4 days after my op out of nowhere, lasted a couple of hours and lots of pain. They said it was retained tissue. But I have also heard the drop in hormones can cause more bleeding so it could be that?

OP posts:
Armdjm · 30/07/2024 22:30

@WildFinch also to add to that after that big bleed I spotted for maybe 2/3 more days literally just on wiping after a wee and then have never bled since!

OP posts:
CJHR18 · 31/07/2024 14:41

@Armdjm @WildFinch Thanks for checking in on me!

I ended up passing the sac naturally before my appointment! Now I'm riddled with guilt as I panicked and flushed it down the toilet 😭😭😭

I have to go back next Tuesday for a scan to make sure everything is gone, but the bleeding has stopped now.

Back to the TTC game 🫣 hopefully metformin helps regulate my cycles because I ovulate so sporadically!

How are you guys doing?

Armdjm · 31/07/2024 19:25

@CJHR18 oh I’m so sorry! I don’t blame you for panicking and doing that! I don’t know what else I would do.

Hopefully it does! I’ve been tracking my ovulation just to see out of curiosity how long it takes to ovulate again after this but so far no where near a positive! I’m hoping my periods won’t take months to come back. A few years ago I took the period delay tablet for only 2 days for my honeymoon and it delayed it for 4 months 😅 so I feel like my cycles don’t need any help getting messed up!
