Missed miscarriage

Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

@SureLook Recurrent miscarriage, this was my third one so I can finally get some help there.. they took 8 tubes of blood from me on the day of my surgery and also did genetic testing on what they removed so I’m hoping for something useful to come out of it

SureLook · 20/02/2025 20:58

@KT199 right there with you with the anxiety. The same day I had my scan my Dad started his second round of chemo for stage four cancer. I'm trying not to be consumed by all these worrying things that are out of my control. I think we're all due some good luck at this stage so all will be resolved before your wedding! I'm the same with the OPKs. They never worked for me when I conceived my first and just made me worry!

SureLook · 20/02/2025 21:06

@Confusedmermaid1 sorry to hear this was your third one. Hopefully you get some answers. I understand you wanting to wait until after that appointment. Hopefully the appointment will come through soon!

KT199 · 20/02/2025 21:18

@SureLook oh I’m so sorry to hear that, that’s very tough to deal with in isolation let alone experiencing the MC alongside. I hope you have plenty of support. You’re right we are due some good luck!! I go through moments of positivity and moments of none 🤣.

OPK’s have worked for me in other cycles, so hoping I get a positive soon. Time will tell I guess, as with everything in this process!

SureLook · 20/02/2025 21:40

Thanks @KT199 it's been shit and life feels very unfair at the moment but what can you do? We just have to get on with things! I do have great support, thanks.

We are definitely due some good luck! But there's up and down days along the way. I've my fingers crossed for everyone 🤞🏻

@SureLook So true, my ovulation tests look to be darkening now so I suspect I’ll have ovulated by the end of the week providing I start to see a positive result.. hopefully then AF will make her appearance!! 🤞

Fingers crossed @KT199!

You could be me. My baby stopped growing at 6w4 too and I should be 9w5. I found out on Sunday. I was seen by the EPU on Monday morning and they confirmed what the private scan said but they said they have to wait for another scan to confirm it’s definitely over before we can move forward. I go back on Tuesday. Im so sorry that you’re also in this horrendous limbo of waiting for your body to realise it’s over and letting go. This has been the worst week of my life but now i just want it to be over. DM me if you want to hand hold together during this horrible time x

Exact same position. I go back on Monday. Accepted it but holding on to a glimmer of hope x

Hi Sunshine8537. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I actually naturally miscarried before my next scan so I didn’t have to wait the full week. It does feel like you’ll never feel happy again but I’m 8 months down the line now and it does get easier. Happy to answer any questions you may have though!

hope you don’t mind me asking but are you still trying to conceive now? If so how soon did you start trying again x

We are trying again but no luck so far. My period returned in the August so about a month and a half after the miscarriage. We started as soon as my cycles came back but it’s very individual to each person on when they feel ready.

SureLook · 28/02/2025 17:07

I got my period back this morning! I never thought I'd be so happy to have my period back 😂

KT199 · 28/02/2025 20:45

Ahh good for you @SureLook !! My BBT confirmed ovulation earlier this week and I had positive LH tests for a day and abit so I am hopeful mine is on its way!

Confusedmermaid1 · 28/02/2025 20:51

Mine also turned up earlier in the week, about 5 weeks post procedure, I was very happy but then it absolutely kicked my ass so the novelty wore off quite quickly 😂 taking a break from TTC at the moment until I get my appointment through.. it’s actually quite refreshing not to be tracking everything for a little while. I’m sure the novelty of that will wear off soon too 😬

SureLook · 28/02/2025 22:42

Ah that's great @KT199 definitely sounds like it's on the way. Did you have regular cycles before?

Delighted yours has come back too @Confusedmermaid1 not so delighted that it kicked your ass, though. Mine has been light enough so far. A little break from tracking will be good. It's so easy to become completely consumed by it all.

KT199 · 28/02/2025 23:19

@SureLook yeah I did, 28-30 days and always a 12 day LP so will be interesting to see whether it snaps back or takes some time to settle! How about you?

@Confusedmermaid1 Sorry yours was so rubbish!! I’m prepared for the same tbh 😅 especially as on my ultrasound she could see clots and tiny bit of tissue which had a clot around it!! It will be really strange for me as my period is normally quite chill and light!

GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow · 28/02/2025 23:25

Hi guys.
I have never posted on here before but I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you to everyone who has shared their stories on this thread.

I had my 12 week scan on Tuesday and it showed an empty sac. I had been really worried about a missed miscarriage despite not having any definite reason I could pinpoint but it was still very upsetting. I had a heartbeat on a 7 week scan after some bleeding and had told family after that. Medical management didn’t work and I had surgical management today.

I haven’t read every entry but I’ve read a lot of the posts and the advice people gave and the descriptions of the process were so helpful. It made me feel a lot less alone (and made me cry a lot, but in what felt like a healthy grieving way). ❤

SureLook · 01/03/2025 07:07

@KT199 maybe around 26-28 days with ovulation usually exactly two weeks beforehand. I can tell by my EWCM and by how my partner starts acting 😂

SureLook · 01/03/2025 07:12

Hi @GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you're feeling ok after your procedure today. I was also shocked and upset getting the news but deep down I knew something wasn't right. It is still so hard to hear.

GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow · 02/03/2025 16:16

Thank you 💚I’m fine physically after the surgery but am still struggling to sleep and I’m really, really sad. My mind is all over the place and I keep ruminating. I’ve got really good support though x

Bellebg · 02/03/2025 16:31

@GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. The days will get brighter with time 🤍 In the meantime, hope you manage to get some more sleep and have lots of support and people looking after you. We are always here to chat!

SureLook · 02/03/2025 20:33

@GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow that's great that you have good support. That's so important. I have found this thread in particular to be very supportive and helpful. I know what you mean about feeling sad. I was the same, it's just sad. Feel everything you're feeling but it will get better x

Armdjm · 05/03/2025 07:06

@GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow I’m so sorry you’ve found yourself here and going through this. You’re allowed to feel sad, it is sad, it’s so so sad! I promise overtime that sadness does start to get easier but while it’s not just look after yourself and give yourself time to heal x

@GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow so sorry for your loss, it’s no fun being in this club but there is great support and you can ask any questions. Take good care of yourself and lean on your support network, the next few weeks will be a little like a rollercoaster.

As for me, looks like my period has finally arrived so just over 5 weeks after my RPOC surgery.. weirdly happy to see it. But also feel my emotions could ebb and flow a little as the days go on!

SureLook · 10/03/2025 11:21

@KT199 ah that's great that your period is back. I was happy as well. It was good reassurance that things are resetting. Although it is a bit bittersweet! Are you going to start TTC soon? Sorry if I've already asked this!
