Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

@InvisibleDragon @Moomoo20 @SophieRules really pleased to hear you’re all ok as can be given everything you’ve been through. Hopefully now you can start to move out the other side. Thinking of you and hope all of your recoveries go well.

Bleeding after my procedure lasted longer than I thought it might have (almost 2 weeks) but I was told that normal if it’s helpful to hear.

@Armdjm sorry to hear that you’ve had a shorter luteal phase after mmc. I’ve read lots on threads that it often happens for a couple of months but will right itself before not too long. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope the ttc journey is really successful for you.

I haven’t shared this on here yet as I know it’s very much a thread we’ve all needed to get through miscarriages and I don’t want to be insensitive in any way but hoping it might help everyone to feel positive moving into ttc. I was convinced my cycles were all over the place as it took 9 weeks for my period to come back after my MVA but I’m now 10 weeks pregnant 😊

Sending everyone hugs x

Grr, after bleeding was starting to tail off I've now had a fresh round of strong cramps, with more bleeding and clots. Really unimpressed. FFS.

@Armdjm That sounds really frustrating too! When I came off the pill to start TTC it took a while for my cycle to regulate and I had a long cycle followed by another period 2 weeks later - I guess it just takes time for things to get back to normal?

@Bellebg congratulations, that's lovely news! Honestly, it's not insensitive to share - I'm all about hearing people's positive stories at the moment!

Confusedmermaid1 · 18/09/2024 17:08

@Armdjm my luteal phase is also shorter than usual, around 10 days post ovulation.. I also had the same concern.. hoping it returns to normal soon!

Congrats @Bellebg amazing news

Armdjm · 18/09/2024 17:57

@Confusedmermaid1 hopefully after a few cycles they will lengthen themselves a bit!

@Bellebg Aw that is amazing news! I’m so so happy for you! What cycle after your MVA did you fall pregnant if you don’t mind me asking? Wishing you the happiest healthiest pregnancy 🌈

@TruthUnwinding you will have to keep us updated!
It’s so stressful when you’re trying and you’re late but testing negative, especially if you’re having symptoms

Sadly I think I had another very early miscarriage. I was feeling nauseous up until Monday (period a week late), and something gruesome came out while I was at work. Two days later my period started. :( I feel okay though, just a bit disappointed.

Yes I agree, it gives me hope too, congratulations! Do you have your scan soon?

Bellebg · 19/09/2024 19:25

Thank you so so much @InvisibleDragon @Armdjm @Confusedmermaid1 @SophieRules @Moomoo20 @TruthUnwinding 🥹

I had completely convinced myself I was going to have recurrent miscarriages and found so many reasons that could cause it (in my head) so I can’t really believe it. Glad that it’s positive to hear!

Have my 12 week scan a week tomorrow (will be 11+3) and have already had 2 early scans. NHS gave a reassurance scan at 7 weeks and booked a private at 9. Still not there yet but keeping everything crossed.

@Armdjm we were super lucky it was after first period after MVA.

@TruthUnwinding I’m so so sorry that you’ve had another miscarriage, and that it happened at work. Hope you can find some relief this weekend. Sending hugs.

Armdjm · 19/09/2024 19:28

@TruthUnwinding oh I am so so sorry! Have you managed to speak to your gp to tell them and see if they can do some bloods?

@Bellebg Aw honestly that’s just the most wonderful news and what a lovely outcome to a horrible situation. I’m sure you’ve given us all some much needed hope!

That's lovely news @Bellebg hoping your scan went well today. I'm all about the positive stories as I'm in the TWW at the moment.

Really sorry to hear your update @TruthUnwinding hope you're getting the support you need.

CJHR18 · 20/09/2024 16:34

@Armdjm my luteal phase was 8 days last time.

Didn't track this time due to holiday, but think I could be 7dpo. I'm starting to spot and get cramps, so I'm 100% AF is on the way. X

Armdjm · 20/09/2024 16:52

@CJHR18 how many cycles are you on? I tracked my 1st one and was 9dpo and I didn’t track this one but pretty sure I was 9dpo again. Wondering if next will be the same or if they will start to lengthen

CJHR18 · 20/09/2024 16:54

@Armdjm This is only my second cycle since the mmc x

Armdjm · 20/09/2024 17:15

@CJHR18 oh well we are similar then! This is the start of my 3rd since mine. My period is so much heavier this time around!

SophieRules · 21/09/2024 08:36

Hi all,

Feeling fed up. I took Misoprostol (4 tablets), a week ago and didn’t have a massive bleeding incident but did bleed like a heavy period and over the week have had a few clots/tissue I guess. However a week later I’m still bleeding like a period and I’m sure the bleeding is supposed to decrease after a week. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a sign it didn’t work and my body is still trying to expel everything? Also when did you get a negative pregnancy test? Unsurprisingly mine are still positive, I know that’s totally normal. So fed up, can’t believe how long this process is, I just want to move on.

Armdjm · 21/09/2024 11:39

@SophieRules i can’t comment much on the bleeding/tablets as I had the surgery. But my bleeding eased then got heavy again as I had remaining tissue then once it was all gone I practically stopped bleeding. So potentially it hasn’t fully worked? Can you ring to see if they will re scan you?

in terms of negative pregnancy test it took me just under 3 weeks after my surgery to test negative

I’m sorry it hasn’t gone smoothly 😢

OP posts:
CJHR18 · 21/09/2024 14:18

@SophieRules I had a similar experience. I didn't bleed alot after taking the tablets, but did bleed non stop for 3 weeks. I was still testing positive at this point. When they rescanned, I had RPOC. Hopefully this is not the case for you xx

Confusedmermaid1 · 21/09/2024 15:32

Hi @SophieRules sorry you’re still going through it. I didn’t get a negative until 4 weeks after the medication. At 3 weeks EPU had me in to do a blood test to check my hcg was low enough because I was still getting faint positives and luckily it was so no further treatment needed.

SophieRules · 21/09/2024 16:25

Thanks everyone, I have a scan next Monday so I guess I’ll find out then. Strangely since this message minimal bleeding but then who knows as it comes as goes. As with a lot of this miscarriage stuff, I guess it’s just a case of waiting and seeing.

InvisibleDragon · 21/09/2024 17:15

Really sorry you're going through this @SophieRules . I have something a bit similar - took tablets over a week ago, absolutely loads of bleeding that evening, then tailing off and thought I was getting there. But the past few days I've got really bad cramping with more bleeding and clots each evening. Don't know if it's cus I've been back at work and doing more, or if it's just part of the process, but it really sucks! Might end up calling the EPU again on Monday if it continues - good luck with your scan next week!

Bellebg · 22/09/2024 09:49

So sorry you’re in this position @SophieRules - really feel for you. I didn’t go down the medical route but did bleed for almost 3 weeks after my MVA (with no retained tissue) if helpful to know. Glad you have a scan booked in and hope that gives you some resolution. In the meantime hope you can find some distractions that help x

InvisibleDragon · 23/09/2024 20:49

How are things going @SophieRules ? I hope you had good news at your scan!

Thanks for asking, much better, barely any bleeding. I really hope it’s gone, but no scan until next week. Still testing positive, which I know is normal.

InvisibleDragon · 25/09/2024 14:55

Omg, went for a scan today and they could still see a sac and some retained products. Perhaps stupidly, I opted for a second dose of misoprostol, but if this doesn't work it will have to be surgery. I just want this to be over with now!
