I wondered if anyone out there would be interested in joining a thread for those who have recently experienced a miscarriage - a place to share how we’re feeling emotionally, physical recovery, becoming ready to try again (for those that want to), and hopefully one day positive stories of successful preganancies.

I’m 32 and recently had a miscarriage at 5-6 weeks of my first pregnancy. I was relieved to have conceived after quite a short time, because I have PCOS and was worried I might struggle to get pregnant.

My miscarriage was about 2 and half weeks ago now, and today is the first day I’ve not had any spotting/bleeding at all, and that has been a relief to feel like my body is moving on from it. I know it’s advisable to do a pregnancy test a few weeks after miscarriage, which is something I’m a bit anxious about doing as I’m fairly sure it will be an emotional thing to do.

Since it happened my sleep pattern and energy levels have been a bit all over the place. Some days I’ve just wanted to sleep all the time, which I think could be a mix of actual physical tiredness and also emotional tiredness/hormonal changes. I was back at work for the first time today, and it was helpful to have something else to focus on and motivate myself for.

I’ve restarted tracking my BBT to see what happens with my cycle returning, though I’m aware it could take a while to get back to normal. My husband and I are both on the same page that we’d like to try again once I’ve had one normal period, so I guess we’ll just see how things go and how we feel when we reach this point.

Sorry this has turned into a longer post than I expected! Anyway, if there’s anyone out there who’s had a similar experience recently and would like a place to share feelings/questions/advice it would be lovely to hear from others.

im hoping they’ve gone down further now so I can start ovulating.

don’t really know how to feel, I guess I should take my own advice and look after myself and look forwards.

what a horrible year 2023 has been so far! 😔

TheBirdintheCave · 21/03/2023 21:41

@SMG1992 I'm sorry you had to wait so long to hear that it's dropped :(

kookyelephant · 21/03/2023 22:13

@SMG1992 sorry to hear that, I hope you're ok

@SEAx thinking of you, it is a really emotional time for you 💕 I can understand first hand how you're feeling, hope you find the strength you need

TheBirdintheCave · 21/03/2023 20:21

@s14a Wow that was cheap! Who was that with? I'm glad you've left feeling like there's a plan in place :)

No one has ever offered me clomid or letrozole. No idea why 🤷🏻‍♀️

A small clinic in the Midlands called St Judes.

I have gotten a very faint bfp this morning at 11dpo. Not getting too excited now but am so glad we have a plan in place!

kookyelephant · 22/03/2023 06:51

@s14a 🤩🤩 I'll try not to get too excited for you! But keeping everything crossed xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 22/03/2023 06:56

@s14a Congratulations! And great timing just after your appointment too :)

Chocolatebean · 22/03/2023 17:24

@s14a that’s wonderful news ooh everything crossed xxx
@SMG1992 im so sorry it’s been a totally shit year hasn’t it it just totally sucks what’s happened the good news is you can get pregnant so take a little comfort in that but I know it’s not much
i have had one of the hardest days since my MC today. I kind of live for ovulation and of course this month it hasn’t happened I always ovulate day 15/16 and just nothing it’s totally broken me especially since I had a scan 1 weeks ago and all the eggs and follicles were there looking amazing so what happened?😢. I felt more relaxed than usual as well, all I can think is the strep A.
I saw a dr at the menstrual clinic I told her about our issues etc and she took bloods and says she will see me in her fertility clinic but how long do you think I’ll have to wait for that? Do
i
just jump the gun and start getting private treatment all my scans are totally clear I’m thinking it’s maybe hormones or just my age. I’m dreading finding out my amh.
what do I do ladies try and hold out on the nhs or start looking private hubby keeps saying we have loads of time honestly if he says this to me one more time I think I’ll lose it ( am 40 in July). Sorry ladies having my worst day ever at least when you’re ovulating there’s a chance but without that im
stuffed xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 22/03/2023 18:30

@Chocolatebean My ovulation was two weeks late because of Strep A. It will happen, it might just take a bit longer :)

I'd definitely just skip the queue and go private if I were you.

Chocolatebean · 22/03/2023 18:47

@TheBirdintheCave thank you isn’t it weird how much strep a has knocked us off track. Yeah I know hubby is going to want to wait for the nhs but I reckon he’ll be happy to book a consult which will keep me happy xxx how are u any news xxx

SMG1992 · 22/03/2023 20:31

@Chocolatebean i think book a consultation- it will also give you something to look forward to x

TheBirdintheCave · 22/03/2023 21:04

@Chocolatebean Nothing to report really. Evap today at 10dpo. I'll test again on Friday and if that's still negative then wait for AF.

s14a · 23/03/2023 05:59

I managed to start cyclogest as per plan last night and then I spent all night feeling sick! Turns out symptoms start early on progesterone.

Just a psa as well. If anyone needs progesterone on a private prescription, asda is your cheapest bet because they don't make profit on ivf meds (cyclogest is included). I paid £32 for 42 pessaries (initial prescription is a pessary twice a day for 3 weeks before I need a scan. If it shows an interutero pregnancy then I'll continue on it for the first trimester.

TheBirdintheCave · 23/03/2023 07:51

@s14a Last time I found the Cyclogest gave me sore boobs but it's the pregnancy vitamins that brought on my nausea.

Chocolatebean · 23/03/2023 10:38

@TheBirdintheCave I don’t suppose you know what the nhs would actually do for me with me already having a child and almost 40? I pups they even do tests and maybe clomid? xxx
@SMG1992 how are you doing today xxx

SMG1992 · 23/03/2023 10:45

@SMG1992 Just back to the drawing board really.
I've had some consequences change at work and I need to step up to a senior position for a few months so that is helping take my mind off of everything.
I'm just going back to tracking with bbt and opks. I've got some nice plans in the next few months too so I'm just going to try and enjoy living my life as is and hope the pregnancy soon follows.... way easier said than done.

I'm also reading a book on manifestation so I'm going to be sending all the positive baby energy to the universe too!

Chocolatebean · 23/03/2023 11:21

@SMG1992 thats a brill way to look at things it will sure make time pass quicker.
great idea to get some nice things booked
xxx

Chocolatebean · 23/03/2023 11:22

@SMG1992 oooh if you have any positive baby energy feel free to send it this way 😁😁😁

SMG1992 · 23/03/2023 11:30

@ChocolatebeanI will be sending all the positivity to you ladies too!

TheBirdintheCave · 23/03/2023 11:36

@Chocolatebean I think they'd do investigative tests for you. I'm not sure about Clomid though.

Chocolatebean · 23/03/2023 12:08

Thanks so much @TheBirdintheCave xxx

Chocolatebean · 23/03/2023 18:05

Have e mailed 2 clinics phew hopefully we will get an appt soon and find out what’s what xxx

VillageFete · 24/03/2023 06:41

@SEAx I’m so sorry, so much of what you posted has resonated with me. You WILL get there, it just may take a little longer than you’d hoped.

A tip i’d give anyone is to start taking 200-400mg of Ubiquinol COQ10. It’s pricey but works wonders for egg quality. Us IVF’ers swear by it. Pricey, but worth it. The brands I recommend are Solgar (Sometimes on offer in Holland and Barrett) And also Life Extension- you have to buy online.

Vit D levels are also so important. If low, they can contribute to miscarriage. Ask your GP for a blood test and then supplement with Vit D high dose spray (Called Better You from Holland and Barrett)

@Chocolatebean How’s your throat love? You will ovulate, but it’ll be delayed. Antibiotics can actually be brilliant before conceiving! Clinics in Cyprus often prescribe them before the cycle to clear anything underlying up.

Also, i’d get the ball rolling with private tests now. I know it‘s costly but it’ll be money well spent for your peace of mind whilst waiting for that BFP x

Chocolatebean · 24/03/2023 07:13

@VillageFete @TheBirdintheCave well my OPK tests have been super negative last night we went out to see the northern lights and when u got home did the OPK I wasn’t even going to look at it but I did and there had been a massive surge I can’t believe it. We haven’t been dtd as i have been so down and I’ve been using thrush cream as a preventative so kind of washed the best I could. So dtd last night think I’ve peaked this morning so if we dtd about 1pm again today with no thrush cream lol im so hoping the thrush cream hasn’t damaged all the sperm and that at least a few make it up there please cross your fingers for me xxx
@VillageFete any transfer news xxx

VillageFete · 24/03/2023 09:34

@Chocolatebean Brilliant news!! Absolutely everything crossed for you love. This will be your month!

Yes - Transfer is scheduled for Tuesday! I’m in the North West and it’s a bit of a pain as you can’t fly directly to Cyprus on a daily basis until April (When it’s in season) So getting the train to London on Sunday, staying at a hotel at Gatwick Airport, flying out Monday afternoon, transferring Tuesday morning and flying back Tuesday night! Luckily, there’s a direct flight back to the North West every Tuesday.

TheBirdintheCave · 24/03/2023 09:43

@Chocolatebean Hoorah :) Fingers crossed you've done enough :D

@VillageFete I'm from the North West but live 10 mins from Gatwick 😂
