What happens when a pregnancy has ended but miscarriage is yet to happen?

Hi, am 8 weeks but a scan has shown that heartbeat is just a flicker and measurements are way out for the number of weeks. I have a scan on Monday and expect to find the pregnancy is finished.

However, all the pregnancy symptoms are still there so think I will need some kind of medical help to end it.

Would anyone mind sharing what my options would be and how it might work please?

I thought all would be ok at my last scan but now I know it's not I just want to prepare for the next stage. Thanks in advance.

I had a little more clear discharge than usual a few days ago rum. It was noticeable because Anna discharge I would normally have dried up completely whilst pregnant. It was before me cramps started though, so on it's own I didn't really think much of it.

Rum..tmi alert .. I had more discharge than has been typical over the last few days.... Not clear, not bloody..... Now ongoing very light bleeding (could get away without pad but scared of onset of gliding as have had to go out and about today

Caught sight of myself in mirror in shop. God. I look grim as death. Didn't realise the misery was showing in my face. Was worried would bump into work bod and they would think me a fraud.... But no. I look ill..... May be I will plaster in the slap next time I venture out....

Beam hope you're ok tomorrow - I'm supposed to be going to a fancy dinner so think I'm going to go fully prepped wearing a pad, dark trousers etc but prepared to make a hasty exit it needs be. Sounds like it could be starting for me too.

I know what you mean, luckily it's just with DH so I think it will be OK and actually quite nice to get out of the house. As for others though, I'm struggling even with my best friends, I'm just at a loss at what to say.

it doesn't get any worse for you, are you stocked up on pads/got a spare change of underwear/trousers etc to take with you? I've found that being as prepared as I can be every time I leave the house has made it a bit easier to try and relax (a bit! don't think I will properly relax for a while
to be honest).

Oh no little , I hope it subsides again, lots of TLC, are you off work atm? Cosy up at home if you can. I hope you have a good time out tonight beam , all I want to do is stayb in and curl on the sofa and watch tv.. But taking the girls out to the cinema... Compromise lol.. They asked to go swimming...err not today but how about the cinema,? 🙂

I passed it Sunday lunchtime then I had no pain at all until Monday mid morning, and since then it's come on as soon as the pain killers are due. It's so uncomfortable :( Might see if the doctor can offer me any stronger pain killers today xx

Littlemiss maybe best to ring epu or GP today. I don't believe that you should be in that much pain, it sounds like something is still trying to work its way out. Definitely get checked. Mind yourself x

Miami; I can't believe that there would be anymore to come away though. The sac was huge and I've had lots of bleeding and big clots; and today the bleeding has definitely slowed down, you know like old blood when your period is coming to an end xx

I know what you mean, it amazed me how much there was, I mean just how big was my uterus at 9wks??
Anyway - just keep an eye on it, if you feel unwell and not OK pain wise I would definitely get checked.

Maybe my body is just in shock coz it's now empty, I don't know. I'd gone 4 weeks without knowing I'd miscarried as I'd had no signs so perhaps it's all still settling down xx

I hope so Little..... I went to epau ... They said to expect cramping for a few days after surgical procedure so may be it is just that? I would still give them a call if you are in pain (I am guessing they will scan you again)

Epau were lovely. Bit odd as I used to work there years ago..... Confirmed preg has ended (as expected).... New news is there was a fetus there after all - they think 5-6 weeks. Basically as I tested late, preg was probably over before I even knew ...: I am not sure how that makes me feel. Given this was likely one and only time I guess I am glad there was and stupidly if gives me a tiny glimmer more hope it might be possible again

Booked In by skin of my teeth on Thursday morning. One of the consultants agreed to add me as an extra. There are three more ladies waiting for the same thing (I was last in line)..., they are all slotted in elsewhere ..... Epau nurse agrees it is insanely unfair way of managing it all. I had to wait ages to hear if I "made the cut"

I had medication management Beam, but I suppose it's still a strain on the body. I rang epu and she wants to rescan me in the morning coz she's concerned I'm still having pain and wants to check it's all definitely come away.

Sorry for your loss Beam, I'm thinking of you. I hope you're feeling better in time, I know how hard it is to overcome :( xx

Beam that's awful :( it doesn't sound like a great system. I'm glad you managed to get a slot and hope it goes as well as it can, it just seems to be handled a bit insensitively sometimes :(

little just caught up with your posts, maybe you should call EPU? Just to be safe? If you're still in pain? Thinking of you. Hope it eases off.

The bleeding has started again and I've just passed another big clot :( I rang epu earlier and she's asked me to come in for another scan tomorrow coz she's concerned that I'm still in so much pain xx

I wonder if it is just pregnancy symptoms (though not a lot else except mild occasional nausea)...

Please get checked little , it may be an infection... I hope the pain and cramping goes soon. Know what mean beam. Everything is meh, my boobs still hurt, nauseous, tired... Appetite up and down, no energy... Visiting my sister overnight soon,. She doesn't know anything, really not in the mood to socialise at all... Or do anything.

Beam know exactly how you feel just had a nap on the sofa - I'm not even bleeding either. Haven't had anything since the bleed that sent me to EPU in the first place. I think it's just pregnancy symptoms, like hula my boobs are sore still and I've been feeling queasy on and off all day. It's so cruel.

Hope the visit goes ok Hula I feel for you, I seem to have opted out
of real life since I found out, everything just seems a bit trivial and pointless.

I'm still have cramping and the bleeding is still ongoing. I was so worried about getting an infection as the pregnancy had ended 4 weeks before I found out that's why I chose medical management to end it sooner rather than later. I had it done on Friday and I honestly thought it would have all been over by now :/
I hope you are all ok. Just about to have a hot bath then I'm going to pour myself a big glass of rosé wine and put my pjs on. Hoping my scan will be ok tomorrow xxx
