Pregnant and bleeding

Worried22 · 17/05/2014 18:40

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and waiting in a walk in centre to see a GP. I have a thread in Pregnancy, but thought I might get more responses here.

I started bleeding a week ago, but today it's much heavier and red. I've got a splitting headache and my temps a bit high. The nurse said they can't do much, they don't scan here. I'm worried the GP is going to say the same and u just need to go home bleeding, not knowing what's going on.

Has anyone experience of this? Can I ask to have an internal, or a scan elsewhere, or go to the early pregnancy unti to be checked out? I don't know what to do, bit scared.

you need to go to a&e now..can someone go with you?

Rachie1986 · 18/05/2014 05:53

Call labour ward and talk to them. Lots of hand holding and thinking of you xx

Worried22 · 18/05/2014 05:54

I don't know whether to go to a&e or phone the labour ward. I've been told to do either by the GP. I'm so tired I can't think properly.

Oh op. That's a nightmare.

Please go now. Can anyone go with you?

stickkettleonwillya · 18/05/2014 05:58

phone labour ward and ask them what you should do

MammaTJ · 18/05/2014 06:03

I would go to A&E if you can. Is there someone to come with you?

stickkettleonwillya · 18/05/2014 06:17

you ok op?

Blondiebrownie · 18/05/2014 06:36

Please listen to the other posters OP. You need to go to A&E, they will want you there as much as you need to be there.

Another hand hold here Thanks

Worried22 · 18/05/2014 06:40

Labour ward, but they don't see you under 20wks, so I'm in a&e. At least I'm in the building where there is an antenatal ward etc. I'm really hoping they don't just send me home with no answers.

worried hand holding here. I hope you went to A and E x

RobinSparkles · 18/05/2014 06:50

Hand holding here too, Worried. It's horrible to be in this limbo, I've been there and it's awful!

I'm crossing everything and hoping and hoping that there is a positive outcome and you haven't miscarried.

Thanks
GingerRodgers · 18/05/2014 06:52

Hand hold for you worried and really hope you get some answers soon Thanks

stickkettleonwillya · 18/05/2014 06:53

thinking of you op. I really hope everything is ok x

Loverofpeas · 18/05/2014 07:56

I hope you get a scan today. I've been there with all my pregnancies and really empathise with how you must feel right now. Sending lots of hugs.

ChickyEgg · 18/05/2014 08:02

Flowers I hope you are ok.

SquidgersMummy · 18/05/2014 08:05

Hi - just stay put in A&E until someone scans you. Try and insist. I too had spotting at various points and a noisy 20mths old currently emptying my handbag. It's awful. Try and insist and just wait until they see you. A scan will show what's going on. Be positive xxx

Purplehonesty · 18/05/2014 08:05

Thinking of you op. I too bled with dd - so much it was running out of me. I posted on here too and got some lovely helpful replies which took me to an EPU after a very unhelpful midwife told me just to wait it out.

It was a bleed from the womb wall but although they couldn't guarantee I wouldn't lose her I went on to have an easy pg. It was so worrying tho.
Hope you get some answers today and you are okay.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 18/05/2014 08:14

They don't scan at my local a&e. I have bee there. And a miscarriage is low risk and I have wasted 4-5 hours in the waiting room. When I got in they said they gave me a stick to pee on. I would have just stayed at home and rest tbh.

I did went to a&e for my second miscarriage but I was bleeding so heavily I had bloody trousers and asked for huge pads to sit in the waiting room or I'd be dripping blood on their chairs and floors. I was taken in immediately and admitted.

From my experience the a&e is far too busy to deal with non emergency cases. I'm not putting a downer here but just being realistic about it.

slithytove · 18/05/2014 08:28

Yes, insist on being seen, they should be able to get access to an ultrasound.

At the end of the day if a non oregnant person was bleeding copiously they would need to find out why!

I really hope all is ok with you and baby Thanks

oohdaddypig · 18/05/2014 08:29

This makes me so cross. Are miscarrying women just meant to go home? If they are stupid enough to miscarry on a Sunday we should stop miscarrying and wait until Monday?

I have a bleeding problem (I don't stop bleeding) and had to push to be admitted when i miscarried and I'm glad I did as I needed IV fluids and help to stop bleeding.

There should be EPU services open across the country 7 days a week. A and E isn't the right place but maybe it's the only place?

I think this is utterly wrong and that women in this country are dealt a completely bum deal when it comes to maternity services.

Ledkr · 18/05/2014 08:33

I also had very heavy bleeding at 12 weeks, she's 12 now.
I'm really hoping for the best for you, I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Ledkr · 18/05/2014 08:35

I totally agree oohdaddy it's awful to have to sit around worrying and bleeding just because it's a weekend. It needs looking at.

ilovemonstersInc · 18/05/2014 08:40

Epu in Manchester is 24hrs. They see ladies in labour triage after a certain time i think its something like 10pm

ilovemonstersInc · 18/05/2014 08:41

Ps hope you are ok and baby too Flowers
