hi 12 weeks pg, how can i tell the difference between dark urine and blood when i wipe?

I think.I might be bleeding, as when I wipe, after a wee I can see a stain on the toilet paper its a sort of Brown colour, do you think it could be blood in the urine, or perhaps just dark urine ?

Don't know if I should try and contact midwife/Dr or a and e or if the NHS make me wait a couple of days for a scan perhaps I should see if j can get in the private place today that charges fifty pounds ?

I just stressed and bit sure what to do

I would contact dr or midwife. Private scan place all very well and good but I think continuity of care is best TBH.

Definitely contact midwife or your gp. It's probably nothing to worry about but you won't be able to stop worrying until you've spoken to them about it.

I wondered if it could just be dehydration I will drink a lot of water see if that helps.

God milk that's a bit harsh. OP title virtually said that and whether yoy feel that or not, this is a serious thread as she is genuinely worried.

I'd call the midwife. Sounds like blood, albeit old, which should be fine. But, your urine shouldn't be so dark you can't distinguish it from blood anyway. It means you're severly dehydrated!

Just pop a urine sample to the surgery, they will get someone to dip test it straight away for you.

Bloody hell milk the title states urine and blood! What diff would tissue make to you being grossed out?

As others have said, your urine shouldn't be so dark you could mistake it for blood, so best go see someone, and keep hydrated.
And milk, if you'd read the title at all properly you would have realised that the thread is about urine and blood.

Call the midwife/doctor and see what they advise, hopefully they will get you in asap if they think there is cause for concern.

Just realised that milk meant "please don't put blood and urine in your thread title as it doesn't aid my breakfast enjoyment", but I still think it was entirely unnecessary to post.

OP, it could be dark urine, mine is pretty dark first thing in the morning. Or it could be old blood. I was told that you need to worry about fresh bright red blood. Also bear in mind that people do bleed in early pregnancy without losing the baby, I did in my first and in this pregnancy.

You can phone your midwife to discuss but realistically there isn't much that can be done either way and in my experience they will suggest that you wait until your 12 week scan next week. I had to wait almost a week for a confirmation scan after my miscarriage.

If you have the money to go private and want the reassurance then I would go for it.

Oh dear, ring your midwife as soon as you can.

I had a bleed at 8 weeks, red blood too, managed to get a scan the next morning at the Early Pregnancy Unit. If you can't get hold of midwife you could try ringing EPAU at the hospital (if you have one).

Oh dear - sorry to hear that, try not to panic - although I know that's almost impossible. Def call your midwife, but if they aren't helping and you are in London, you can self refer to an Early Pregnancy Unit. St Thomas' and UCH both offer scans as a walk in. Same thing happened to me at around the same time as you and he's now sitting in my lap trying to bash the keyboard. Hope it goes OK.
