Modibodi and gender

I was reading another thread with regard to Modibodi and period pants. I am going through the menopause and my periods have become erratic and very heavy. I thought I’d have a look on this website and unfortunately the first thing I am greeted with is a headline. Period wear for all genders and a picture of a girl with a moustache, and a bulge in her period pants. Anyone else just fed up with this insidious movement even when having to find pants which will stop me leaking blood through my trousers or on my bed. I am a menopausal woman with heavy periods and my menopausal anger is increasing daily. Any thoughts.

Oh get over it.

I'm a non binary perimenopausal person on HRT, and I for one am incredibly grateful that some brands are doing this.

Pixilicious1 · 13/02/2023 20:48

I agree. 0.5% of the uk population identify as a gender that isn’t their birth sex. Why is every company courting them at the expense of women??

Towntroubadour · 13/02/2023 20:52

@discobrain, curious why are you grateful they’re doing it? They’ve always done boy shorts.

Gatekeeper · 13/02/2023 20:52

"For all people who menstruate" 😑

Women in other words....

If you're peri menopausal and on HRT then you're a woman.

Towntroubadour · 13/02/2023 20:57

Was it Oscar? I found it quite insulting and unsubscribed from their emails because I couldn’t get my head round this quote “I think we really need to break the stigma that only women menstruate, because you have no idea who does." I don’t like any product/services that erases the word woman. Like you @Emilypank, it makes me really cross.

Seriously.

Do you not know what the word ‘binary’ and the prefix ‘non’ mean?

And then are you not able to put them in the context of gender?

People can live and identify however they please when it affects and hurts no one else.

However your bigotry and ‘free’ (aka hate) speech is hurting people.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2023 20:58

I saw it too on ModiBodi, I also found it annoying, this shoehorning of an ideology into everything.
Only women have periods.
Everyone is non binary when it comes to gender stereotypes.

Not sure which area your in but when I had my twins the midwife suggested tena incontinence pants. And no joke I never went back to pads now over a year later. No leaks, no uncomfortableness etc etc. Midwife said she recommends to all new mums as the main complaint is leaking, changing constantly, rubbing sores etc. Well worked for me and since found my sister in law and a cousin all moved to underwear pants ages ago. The cheaper incontinence pants supermarkets own brands worked aswell but I prefer the cosier tena ones 😁

BeetrootFeta · 13/02/2023 20:59

@Emilypank agree, really annoys me that it’s front and centre in their website and in emails recently. Who do they think their audience is? I am in my 50s and going through flooding and all sorts with a young teenage DD (not a regular cycle yet). She does not want to see this when she is looking at a new pattern for her next purchase. We have spent around £300 with them but switching to another brand now. We went online together to look at new colours, we just looked at each other and hit the unsubscribe button. I don’t think they want our business, after all we are only born female and not ‘brave’ people changing gender.

SusanPerbCallMeSue · 13/02/2023 21:00

Telling someone they are a woman is hurting them. Oh please. If that hurts them they need to get out in the real world. 🙄🙄

Lennybenny · 13/02/2023 21:02

I am. Funny how F2M don't have issues like this but M2F seem to think there are certain things that make them a woman...periods, make up, short skirts and heels and that they must be included on everything otherwise you're transphobic. You aren't allowed to support transpeople if you have an opinion on their need to take ownership of everything female.

Emilypank · 13/02/2023 21:03

Also reading today that the Senedd in Wales are putting sanitary products in the mens toilets. What next!!

This is the image the Op is referring to. The person with the bulge is female, wearing period pants.

Great yet another brand to add to the boycott list. Thanks for highlighting it OP

They do indeed make incontinent pants for men but this man/woman/other is in the period pants section (I just went to have a look on their website).

If you were born a woman and are comfortable with that identity, then how can you tell people who don’t share that experience what they can consider hurtful?

I will never share the same experience as a trans person - but I can recognise they are not hurting me and therefore let them live their lives.Especially when transitioning or embracing gender non-conformity may save their life.

Empathy is a basic life skill.

FrancescaContini · 13/02/2023 21:05

“Non binary perimenopausal person on HRT” has made me laugh out loud.

I’m with you, OP.

Emilypank · 13/02/2023 21:06

Wondered when the old bigot, transphobe would appear. Two sexes and no subsets. Will not cave in to this madness.

So intersex people don’t even exist? My goodness the ignorance.

Towntroubadour · 13/02/2023 21:07

@devonianpricklypear, woman isn’t an identity though. It’s not a costume or a feeling. It’s a fact. I don’t like makeup, or high heels, I’ve never worn dresses or skirts. I don’t identify as a woman, I am one because of my biological make up.

FuckeNell · 13/02/2023 21:08
