Hi all - so, with kbear's blessing , I'm starting a new thread for all of us to organize meetups. Why don't we try a picnic again in one or two weeks time on Tuesday the 9th or 16th near the Maritime Museum? Let's do around noon... So, let me know which date is better and we'll go with the majority. I was so sad that yesterday didn't work out!!

Oh dear,
DS has just been diagnosed with chicken pox and I'm expecting dd to break out at any mo.

Nurse reckons we should spread it around so everyone's had while still young but alas we have no one to pass it on to...any takers?

Dropinthecauldron · 13/10/2005 12:16

Both mine have had but I think t is quite common for kids to get it more than twice so I wouldn't be out and about too much-remember pregnant mums too! May have to suffer a few days indoors! Miserable,eh!

Here is a big to cheer you up!

piximon · 13/10/2005 14:24

Drop, we've been staying in for the past few days as soon as I suspected it might have been cp.
We're starting to get cabin fever now.

I kept the rain cover over the buggy while in the surgery and asked for a room to wait in but the nurse said I was being melodramatic.

Still should have all cleared up by the 25th so hopefully we'll still make it.

mummylonglegs · 13/10/2005 14:46

My dd's never had it piximon and I'm quite keen for her to get it over with. But I'm not really anywhere near to you to make that an easy option.

jenweber630 · 13/10/2005 16:30

He he - we DON'T want to be exposed! Mitchell will get the innoculation for it in the states in a few months and I'd rather not have to go through it. And piximon - I don't think you were being melodramatic!! If I were a pregnant woman coming into the office after you, I would have appreciated your thoughtfulness.

Anyway - the forum has a play area as well as a cafe. I was going to walk down today after swimming lessons but it was too rainy and I had forgotten ds's buggy rain gear. sigh However, our monkey music teacher recommended it highly, particularly for a get together.

Well - I jinxed myself by saying Mitchell was going to get the jab in a few months - he sprouted chicken pox yesterday!!! sigh So, I'm not sure I'm going to make it to the next meetup unless he's scabbed over by then. I will call the forum and make sure it is a suitable place as I didn't get there and won't over the next week. I am so bummed out - luckily the house is clean and I have all kinds of new things to scrapbook with so I don't mind sitting around for the next week. sigh

Jen - sorry to hear that you didn't escape the dreaded pox. Your DS is now officially one of us Brits who get the pox and don't get innoculated like you lot across the pond!

Hope he's okay and not suffering with it. My DD had about 20 huge spots but DS had about 20,000 small spots - much worse IMO.

Catch up with you soon when he's over it.

Hoges · 17/10/2005 09:56

Hi - back from Lanzarote and it all seems a bit grey and damp here! Bad luck for those of you battling the dreaded poxy chickens! No sign of it here, thank goodness. Hope the spotty ones are feeling better soon.

jenweber630 · 17/10/2005 19:15

Well - I must be going insane or be experiencing some kind of pananoia. Mitchell doesn't have the pox. He had an ill-timed rash on his stomach and it's gone. The other few blemishes he had on his legs are gone as well so I think we actually did clear it. So, I think we're going to walk down to the forum tomorrow to check it out.

Great news Jen! See you next week. By the way, I've found Winne the Pooh for the toy I gave you for DS! I will bring him with me.

mummylonglegs · 18/10/2005 19:19

Is there a Forum meet-up date then? Dd's on half term next week so I could meet up on Tues, Weds or Thurs morning?

KBear · 18/10/2005 21:33

yep MLL (do keep up!). Tuesday 25th.

The forum is on the corner of Trafalgar Road and Christchurch Way in Greenwich. Head east from the Queen's house/Naval College (towards the Greenwich peninsula, Woolwich), it's on the north side of the road in a large stone church.

Jen is checking it out for us.

mummylonglegs · 19/10/2005 11:28

Oops!

Do you happen to know if the 188 bus goes past there? I'm not at all clear about that side of Greenwich as I come from the other side, close to Bermondsey. If you were on the main Greenwich high street which has Starbucks, Ottakers, then further up the Nat West etc. would you go up that hill towards (I think) New Cross? Or would you go past the entrance of the War Museum past the Arches leisure centre? The 188 goes that way so would be much easier for me. I don't drive. It's a good thing for other motorists.

jenweber630 · 20/10/2005 11:59

I'll take a look at the bus numbers that stop near there when I go by next time and figure it out for you.

Think this is the place Jen means. Lots of info

here

jenweber630 · 22/10/2005 00:07

Thank you kbear - I wasn't able to get the website to work when I found it... It does work as a space for a meet-up and there are areas where the kids can play while we have a coffee. I'm looking forward to Tuesday!

KBear · 22/10/2005 09:03

So, Tuesday 25th October 2pm at the Forum in Greenwich (details on the link on my earlier post).

See you all there.

KBear · 23/10/2005 20:22

bump

bran · 23/10/2005 20:24

I'll be there, but a bit late. I've replied to your e-mail KBear.

KBear · 23/10/2005 20:39

I haven't got an email from you yet Bran but my Outlook has been playing up today. If I have replied by tomorrow will you send it again? See you Tuesday.

mummylonglegs · 23/10/2005 22:00

Hopefully also see you guys on Tuesday. I've slightly over-booked myself for the half term week though so don't rely on me absolutely arriving ...

KBear · 24/10/2005 09:42

Jen, Drop - you still coming tomorrow? Who else is coming?

Dropinthe · 24/10/2005 10:31

Can't get your link up but am hoping to come-think I know which church it is-can you park near?

KBear · 24/10/2005 10:43

It's just past Greenwich Hospital

map /link{http://www.streetmap.co.uk/image.dll?ShowImage&image=TQ37NE77.gif&street=Y&loc2=d4\here} I hope

Website says limited parking at the back of building but lots of side streets.

See you then.
