Hi all - so, with kbear's blessing , I'm starting a new thread for all of us to organize meetups. Why don't we try a picnic again in one or two weeks time on Tuesday the 9th or 16th near the Maritime Museum? Let's do around noon... So, let me know which date is better and we'll go with the majority. I was so sad that yesterday didn't work out!!

I actually carried him in today so I've still not used it! He's napping now but I'm going to take him out for a walk just as soon as he wakes up. Woohoo!

FYI about the coffee morning this Friday at 10:30 - it's going to be at Buenos Aires on Royal Hill in Greenwich. It's a lovely cafe - there are several leather couches and a table with legos and coloring books for older kids. It's fairly new and is not a chain so I'm feeling better about supporting this place than Costa... Parking on Royal Hill is resident permit only but the side streets have a few meters or a pay and display area. Hope to see some of you there!

Sorry Jen, I was on MN yesterday evening but didn't see your post. It would have been quite tricky to meet up anyway as ds' class is at 11 and we came home straight after as he was up early this morning and very sleepy after class.

Do you fancy meeting up at the open gym sometime? They do 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays so we could have a coffee first and then tire the kids out.

KBear · 27/09/2005 16:19

Yes, Drop, she did! I cleaned it up and then didn't want to sell it at all, wanted another baby ("don't be R I D I C U L O U S", I told myself!) so yes, sold it to Jen on the proviso she lets me have a turn of pushing her DS when we go to the woods in half term!!

Jen, how did the walk go? Hope the pram was okay and lived up to my hype!

coldtea · 27/09/2005 16:33

Sorry Jen, i can't make friday but hope it goes well for you .

Dropinthe-She lives in Larkfield, i think you would drop it off to her(remembering she has 5 children between the ages of 2 and 8!) but if you wanted to talk about it with her i can pass on your e-mail address & she can contact you. She is lovely & wouldn't be at all offended if nothing came of it. She is still waiting for my suitcase full of clothes!

Dropinthe · 27/09/2005 17:28

Where is Larkfield? Never'erd of it!!

jenweber630 · 27/09/2005 17:30

That would be great Bran! Next Tuesday works for me - how about coffee at 2:30 somewhere and then off to Gymboree?

OP posts:
bran · 27/09/2005 17:48

Sounds great. Cafe Rouge are very child friendly (although not at weekends apparently), and it's right across the road from Gymboree. Could we meet a little later as ds gets very bored with coffee and chat, say just before 3 (2.50 ish). Otherwise there's a reasonable chance that he will demolish the cafe.

coldtea · 27/09/2005 19:30

Larkfield, near west malling-Maidstone. It's about 40 mins from here.

Hoges · 28/09/2005 10:04

Hi SE Mums. I hope you don?t mind me jumping in on your thread. I have just moved to Woolwich with my husband and 6 month old, Jazmine. We have moved over from Australia and don?t know anyone at all in the area , so I?m hoping there is a group of you close by with babies/small children that Jaz and I can get to know and meet up with sometimes. Please let me know if you have anything planned locally that we could join in with. Thanks , Liz

coldtea · 28/09/2005 10:45

Hi Liz and welcome .

I have two children ds(5) and dd(2) there are a few here though that have young babies. Look forward to meeting you soon.

Jen-hope you got your e-mail from Nicola, she copied me in too. Dropinthe to explain a little more this is what she sent to me & Jen

put it on at a price that I believe will get interest, but of course I am guided by how much you would like and how much I know it would get. I will list the item for you, invoice the buyer, collect the money, pack and post the item and then give you the remained amount. Which if you have a pay pal account I can transfer into that for you or send you a cheque or give you the cash.

I do charge you 20% of the selling price, not the postage as if any thing extra is made on that you will get it. I also charge 10% of the postage cost to cover packing. Plus I take the cost of listing the item. E.g.

Boys Winter Coat Sells for £10.00 plus £4.00 post and packing Cost of listing was 30p as I started it at 99p

The cost to you would be

£10.00 ? 20% = £2.00

£4.00 ? 10% + £0.40

30p

Total to me is = £ 2.70

You get = £11.30

I hope I have made my self clear. If there are any questions please let me know. I do not know if michelle mentioned it but I have 5 children and I am in and out all day but I do check my emails quite a few times a day.

jenweber630 · 28/09/2005 11:27

Hi Hoges! Welcome to London! Actually, this Friday I'm hosting a coffee morning for cancer relief at a cafe in Greenwich and have a 9 month old boy who will be there. (We just moved to the area 5 months ago from the states.) Anyway, it should be fun - there info about it further down in this thread or CAT me (contact another talker) if you wish. We should have another large meetup in October - I'm going to visit a new venue next week and we'll set a date soon.

Dropinthe · 28/09/2005 11:30

Thanks for that Coldtea! I might find it hard getting the stuff to Larkfield although could do it one go and bring a couple of boxes. Its mainly baby clothes with a few other items and some computer games.Let me have a sort through and I will get back to you,ok?

Hoges-I live in Plumstead so am probably your nearest Mumsnetter.I've got 2 boys who will be four and two in January.I'm quite often free on Mondays,Tuesdays and Thursdays so would be happy to meet you in Woolwich for a coffee sometime so I can tell you about the place.
CAT me if you would like to do that!

KBear · 28/09/2005 13:07

Hi Hoges, I'm Kbear and I'm not far from Woolwich, in Belvedere. Welcome! My DD is 6 and my DS is 4.

Feel free to join in the meet ups anytime or even organise one which suits you and ask everyone to join yours!

This is a good place to ask for local advice too -like good shops (Bluewater - my spiritual home [ grin]), doctors, dentists, creches etc.

bran · 28/09/2005 13:27

Hi Hoges, welcome to London. I won't be at this Friday's coffee morning, but I'm sure I'll meet you at another meet-up.

mummylonglegs · 28/09/2005 14:50

The Tuesday / Thursday Gymboree meet-up sounds lovely if you don't mind another guest? Or will my dd be too old at 3 for the particular Gymboree session? And where is the Gymboree you're talking about?

Hoges · 28/09/2005 14:52

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will come to the coffee morning on Friday morning and look forward to meeting any of you who are there .

Norash · 28/09/2005 15:23

Hi Hoges,

tex111 · 28/09/2005 15:30

Hi! Jen sent me the details and I'll be coming on Friday too. I have a 3 year old DS and a very large bump. Can't wait!

KBear · 28/09/2005 15:45

I wanna come too but I gotta work Friday - waaaaah

jenweber630 · 28/09/2005 16:25

Woohoo! I'm excited about all of you coming to coffee on Friday! But we'll miss you Kbear!!!

MummyLL - I'll ask next week (Tuesday) when I go if children not enrolled in a class can go - or at least give it a try... If not, maybe we can go somewhere that everyone can go.

Have you all seen the thread about the huge christmas meet-up in central London? The cutoff for signing up is tomorrow - and it's only a 5 pound deposit if you decide to cancel. It looks really fun - I didn't see a whole lot of us SE-enders on the list. I'm going to go as long as we're in town.

OP posts:
mummylonglegs · 28/09/2005 22:15

I did see it Jen, just didn't fancy it somehow or other. Plus quite a trek to get home from in the evening.

Norash · 29/09/2005 08:54

I feel the same Mummylonglegs, haven't seen you since the first meet up. Hope we see you again soon .

mummylonglegs · 29/09/2005 11:37

Me too Norash how you doing?

Norash · 29/09/2005 12:05

I'm good Longlegs , we are doing well here. How's little longlegs?
