Hi I am 33 years young and live in Copthorne near Crawley, West Sussex and looking to chat to other mums/mums to be in the Surrey/Sussex area and maybe arrange a meet up sometime. I used to be on the Redhill or nearish thread but that seemed to die a sudden death so thought I would start a new one.

I have a daughter of 17 months and am expecting another girl in October.

Hi Steph

Great to see you all as well. The girls seem to really like that place don't they? I thought it was so sweet the way they came away holding hands considering they don't see each other too often.

OK, well I can do any night next month except 1st and 2nd and I'd prefer not Mondays either. Look forward to seeing everyone. Helena, I hope you had a nice time at your sister's wedding.

Amandoh · 25/10/2007 12:26

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all well and wrapped up warm. It's so cold today!

Firewalker and Funnytype ~ It sounds like you all had a lovely time.

A November meet-up sounds good to me. I have a birthday dinner to go to on the 19th (I think it's the 19th. Will have to check) but am free any other night and would love to come along and meet you all.

Take care,

Amanda x

Firewalker · 25/10/2007 12:57

Hi Amanda

Nice to see you posting on here. I sent you a pm asking how you were feeling a while ago but didn't get an answer. Is everything healing up nicely now?

BTW, Rhianna is still talking about "those sweets Amanda gave me"! She doesn't forget things in a hurry.

funnytype · 05/11/2007 08:32

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well and had a good weekend.

So lets get this meet up arranged very soon! Prefer the end of the month now or in December as bit skint until then, how about the Thursday the 29th?

Hi there

I don't like the way they've changed this site isn't it horrible? Anyway 29th Nov works for me. It would be nice to get together before Christmas.

Hope everyone is well.

Amandoh · 08/11/2007 23:49

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all well. The 29th of November is fine for me and I'm very much looking forward to having an evening out.

Take care,

Amandoh · 12/11/2007 19:19

Hello again,

Oh dear. It's gone very quiet here. I wonder if the new board format is to blame. I shall post a message on the "Croydon Mums. Shall we have a cup of tea?" message thread to let them know that we're hoping to arrange another evening meet up. That might drum up a little more interest.

Any ideas as to where we're going to meet? Firewalker and I discussed Caterham Valley as a possibility. Would that be convenient for everyone else? There's a Tapas bar, Thai restaurant and a very lovely Chinese restaurant (Well, I've not actually eaten there as when we've dropped by on a whim they've been fully booked but it smells gorgeous). There's also a nice Pizza Express (and a not nice Pizzahut).

Hope to hear from someone... anyone soon,

Amanda x

Firewalker · 13/11/2007 10:09

Amanda

Yes I think it is the board - I do not like this new layout at all! Anyway, Caterham is fine for me, it will be nearer for the other girls than Purley. I like any food at all, although I'm rather partial to Italian! Mary and Helena where are you both?? Stephanie, did you say you had Mary's mobile number?

Sorry I have not replied to your pm Amanda, I will do in the next couple of days. We do now have a cat so will post a piccie when I get a minute.

Hope everyone is OK.

Amandoh · 13/11/2007 12:35

Hi Firewalker,

I hope you and little R are both well. Don't worry about not yet replying to pm. I often struggle to find a spare or uninterrupted 15mins to reply to messages. I imagine Little R is having fun with the new cat. I look forward to seeing the piccie.

There is a little Italian place in Caterham (It's up near the Miller Centre opposite Bollywood). I've never eaten there but I'd like to. About now I ought to ask "Is Italian ok for the rest of you?" but at this rate it could just be you and I! I'm seeing Dropdeadfred on Wednesday at playgroup so I'll let her know about the 29th.

Take care,

Amanda x

funnytype · 13/11/2007 22:10

Hi Amanda and Steph

Sounds good to me! Let's hope we hear from the others soon.

We got a white cat with torteshell (sp!) bits and she's a real little poppet. Her name is Daisy and she's three. Poor little thing doesn't get much peace when Rhianna is around though as she hardly leaves her alone. The first thing she wants to do when we get home is cuddle Daisy!

My cleaners have just rung to say they've had a nice cuddle with her too. It's the first time they have seen her.

Anyway, take care everyone and hopefully we will all be on here soon. Steph - I hope you and the girls are well and Amanda - I have forwarded your e-mail to work and will reply from here. I just haven't had a minute at home. Hope you are feeling better.

Have emailed Mary but not heard from her yet so hopefully she can make the 29th. Hope all well with you all.

Oh dear - we don't seem to be doing very well on the meeting up front here do we? I can't imagine what's happened to Mary and Helena.

Anyway, still OK for next Thursday so here's hoping!

Firewalker · 22/11/2007 10:33

Just noticed that Helena has posted on another thread with her e-mail address so I have mailed her. Hope she replies

Mumpbump · 22/11/2007 18:04

Hi there! Thanks for emailing me, Paula! I haven't managed to get on MN for ages! Two under two is extremely busy! I will check with dh and provided he can babysit, should be able to make it. Had my first night away from Joseph last Saturday and managed okay! Will have to start expressing tomorrow!

If anyone fancies a daytime meet-up at some point, I am finding Adventureland at Donyngs great for wearing ds1 out!!

Would you mind emailing me the details of where and when the meet up will take place once finalised if I don't reappear on this thread to confirm I am coming?

Many thanks!!

Firewalker · 23/11/2007 11:23

Of course Helena. I will pm you as well.

I can imgaine 2 under is very busy. We went to our third birthday party at Donnyngs at the weekend and it was great. We're going to book Rhianna's party there in April. I have 36 children to invite so it's one of the few places that actually has enough room.

Anyway, Amanda, did we decide where we going next week? Let me know and I'll pm Helena.

Have a good weekend all.

x

Amandoh · 24/11/2007 14:05

Good afternoon,

I hope you're all well and having a good weekend.

If everyone likes Italian and Caterham is ok for you all then there is an Italian restaurant up near the Millar Centre opposite Bollywood. It's only a small restaurant and I haven't been myself so I'm not sure if it gets very busy in the evenings so it's probably a good idea to book in advance just incase. DropDeadFred may come along too if she's free so I'll book a table for 4 possibly 5. Is 7.30pm a good time for everyone?

Firewalker ~ I hope you and Little R are well and still having fun with Daisy. I've replied to your pm. I'm sorry it's taken me a while. Looking forward to seeing you again on Thursday.

Funnytype and Mumpbump ~ It'll be great to finally meet you both. Very much looking forward to Thursday!

Take care and I'll see you all soon,

Amanda x

Firewalker · 25/11/2007 21:03

Amanda

Thank you - I'll read your reply at work on Tuesday.

I'm not sure exactly where the restaurant is, but I will look on the map. Can you let me know the name of it and I'll look it up on yell.com. Hope it works well for you Steph.

I can't really leave the house until about 7.25 so I won't realistically get there until about 7.45ish (is there somewhere to park nearby)? If you need a lift do let me know.

I'll pm Helena as well with details when I know them.

fatbetty · 26/11/2007 11:30

Hi All! So sorry for not writing sooner! I've been checking in now and again, and by the time I get around to writing a reply I get pulled away from the computer (usually by a screaming child!). We have been the house of sick the last few weeks. DS1 was home from school 3 days last week, and DS2 is home today. Took DD to the hospital on Saturday night (her 1st birthday) as she had a very high temp and a horrible rattling cough. She is okay, but still not right. She woke up this morning, gave her a bottle and she went right back to bed.

With that said, I'm not sure about Thursday if I can make it. Need to find out DH work schedule to see if he'll be home early that night. What time are you planning on getting together?

Hope you all are well and haven't been hit by the sick bug. Mary

Amandoh · 26/11/2007 12:20

Hi all,

I hope you all had a good weekend.

I'm not too sure of the name of the restaurant but I've asked DP to have a look on his way home from work so will let you know for sure later.

I looked up Italian Restaurants on Google and the only one it lists is Pasta House, 20 Godstone Road. The adrress is right so I think that must be the one. It's very close to the roundabout in Caterham Town Centre and normally there are spaces on the opposite side of the road so parking shouldn't be a problem.

Is 8pm better for everyone? I'm going to ring and book tomorrow evening so if you could let me know before then that would be great.

Still looking forward to seeing you all!

Take care,

Amanda x

Mumpbump · 26/11/2007 21:12

Hi there. Haven't managed to get around to expressing any milk yet so I don't think I am going to make it. Could you assume that I won't and I am sure that they will be able to squeeze one more in in the unlikely event that I do make it. Any daytime meet-ups, especially on Wednesday when ds1 is at nursery, and I will definitely make it... Have a nice time everyone!

Firewalker · 27/11/2007 10:05

Oh that's a shame - kind of looks like it might be just you and me Amanda!! Do you still want to go?? Stephanie hasn't written so not sure if she's coming.

Mary - I'm sorry to read about all the illness in your house and your worries with Madeleine. I'm glad she is better now.

Helena - sorry we won't see you, it seems ages since I have seen you and Mary. Unfortunately daytime meet ups on a Wednesday don't work for me as I work then. I'm in Reigate on 12th December in the morning, but without Rhianna who is at nursery. I have an appointment, but could grab a quick lunch with you, Mary, Stephanie or whoever if anyone is around. Amanda, I guess this wouldn't work for you, but otherwise, perhaps we could arrange an evening meet Jan or Feb?

Love Paula

Amandoh · 27/11/2007 12:27

Hi everyone,

I'm really sorry to read that more of you can't make it. Nevermind. As Firewalker said, we can try again in Jan/Feb.

Firewalker ~ I guess it's not really a "meet up" with just the two of us. I'm happy to come along though if you'd still like to. I had a peek into Pasta House last night when we dropped the older boys off at Scouts and Cadets and it was empty. It looks a bit erm, dusty. Given the choice between Pasta House and Pizza Express I'd choose the latter. So if you still want to do this how about 8pm, Pizza Express? I should see DropDeadFred tomorrow at playgroup so I'll ask her again as when I last asked she didn't know if she'd be free.

Take care,

Amanda x

fatbetty · 27/11/2007 12:39

I know it's seems like ages since I've seen everyone!! Since October, I feel like we've been extremely busy and I can't seem to get myself organised. Maybe that will be my New Years Resolution. ha ha

I think I'm going to give this meetup a miss as my children as full of colds, and I'm not much better. DS2 is now complaining about his ears and I'm taking him to the doctors this afternoon. Madeleine must be feeling better as she ate loads this morning and pretty much slept all of yesterday. Still has a horrible cough though. Ah, the cold season. Just when you think they are over it, they go back to school/playgroup and pick up something new. I hope the rest of you are healthy.

Keep me posted about maybe making lunch on the 12th. I might be able to do that.
