Scottish Christmas meet-up

There has always been a good night in Edinburgh at Christmas but so far, there doesn't seem to be the impetus for one.

Nailpolish started a thread here but it has limped on without getting to a critical mass.

I thought I'd start a new thread with Christmas in the title to see if that would generate a bit more interest! As someone said on the other thread, we are getting a bit close to Christmas, so we should get a move on if we are going to organise something!

I just got back from shopping (a friend came and took me in her car and made sure I wasn't out in the cold too long!)

I am wearing black - black trousers, black tiny bit sparkly top with purple sparkly jewellry.

I am even dyeing my hair a little bit purply tonight!!

And I will be with PB.

I am excited - its like my "work night out"!

Wheeee!

TBBE - I've juse sent you an e-mail.

I've got something to celebrate too - just found out that I've got some work that we pitched for. That means we've got some income coming in for the next 3 months, so we can properly celebrate Christmas!

TBE - what size do the pins need to be? I've some that are about an inch long - will they do?

Prettybird - brilliant news!!!

TBE - are you on the PGCE? I did that forever a long time ago and I remember the stresses.

I'm trying to get an essay finished so I can relax tomorrow!!

weegiemum · 04/12/2009 20:50

TBE - I am not pinning anything on my nice new chiffony top!!! It has to do CHristmas and New Year as well!

expatinscotland · 04/12/2009 20:52

have just seen this!

synopsis, please, as i have another eye on 'axemen' .

sorry!

is it glasgow?

arrgggh! we love living here but it does make it hard for meetups because it's very difficult for me to get out past the last ferry at 10PM.

expatinscotland · 04/12/2009 20:53

PS, 'Axemen' is a series about loggers in Oregon and Washington State, not a horror film (well, unless you're a tree).

Is Edinburgh, Cuba Norte (near Haymarket station) at 3pm tomorrow.

Where do you live expat?

expatinscotland · 04/12/2009 21:01

I live a long way from Edinburgh, unfortunately.

It's only technically 90 miles away, but it is the Highlands here and I'd definitely need a place to stay overnight even if it were at 3PM.

But have fun!!

Party for me.

Besom · 04/12/2009 21:03

Is Glasgow easier? Maybe should be Glasgow next year.

weegiemum · 04/12/2009 21:42

expat - you can stay with us anytime, you know that! Including tomorrow night if you can swing it!

and as I am plannign on being on a 7ish train, dh could get you to gourock for the last ferry if you needed it - he's nice that way (I can't drive and even if I did I intend to drink too many cocktails sip leisurely at some fine fruit concotion)

stirlingstar · 04/12/2009 21:50

Wow - have just seen this thread but it's 4th dec and kids both ill. Can I mark a place for next year?

Yes, why don't we do a New Year meet up in January or February in Glasgow so more West-Coasters can come.

I'd be up for that.

See the rest of you this afternoon eeeek!

PrammyMammy · 05/12/2009 14:25

:O! I have just seen this. A day out with grown ups, and i missed it? cries
I'll be waiting for this new year meet. :D

weegiemum · 05/12/2009 15:00

I hope someone sees this!

My dh spoke to Prettybird - I just can't come. I feel like crap and actually it is me up "supervising" the kids just now as dh probably feels worse than me and I have sent him to bed.

We've not been well since we went to South America in the October Break 6 weeks ago and we are still suffering - serves us right, I suppose! But I can't take a breath outside of Glasgow's nice damp friendly air without doubling up today (let alone Edinburgh!!!) and dh is asleep!

So SO SOOOOO sorry.

Hope you all have an amazing time

Wish I was there
