Would anyone be up for it?

Could it be arranged somewhere in the middle of the country?

And would Carrie and Justine be interested?

Something like this

Gwenick · 11/04/2005 22:44

looks awfully expensive - even if the cost was shared

moo's treat - she's loaded

marthamoo · 11/04/2005 22:51

It was wishful thinking, Gwenick - there's no price online and I think it's a case of "if you have to ask..." I can dream, can't I?

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:11

I was boredly thinking... it would be good if Carrie/Justine would come along and sort of 'endorse' the whole idea, then we need to advertise the meet up by banging on about it every five seconds and maybe having a link on the front page, we need to properly decide on a place, and a vague date... then we should get people to sign a thread so we have a vague idea of numbers etc..... that's if any of you actually want to do it , I have no idea what kind of place we'd do it in.... take over a restaurant for the evening? Go for a big picnic or something?

NomDePlume · 12/04/2005 14:13

me. I'd love it. A middle of the country one would be great too as I'm in the Midlands

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:14

Shall I email mumsnet and see if they want to makew it a proper mumsnet event?

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:20

Thats just what I was thinking FA. I thought it would be nice if they came along.

Am getting quite excited about it

How do you contact MN anyway?

OP posts:
FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:26

[email protected] is the address but I've just sent an email asking about it so don't inundate them! Lol

Toothache · 12/04/2005 14:28

They've had a big meet-up before when they launched the 1st MN book. But it was all very London based. Tech got a LOT of attention apparently.

I think Manchester is a good middle ground and easy to find coming from Central Scotland!

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:29

Well I told them to have a gander at the thread and maybe help with the logistics a bit....cos we'll never bloomin agree unless someone says 'right it's here, it's then, you're coming!'

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:36

Good, the wheels are rolling slowly then.

I've been thinking about it for a while and then I thought the other night to do the thread and see just how many others would be interested. Didn't think it would get a big response TBH.

FA, if MN aren't bothered about the organising would you fancy organising it with me or anyone else come to think of it?

Sure NBG not sure how much I could help but I can certainly yell 'IT'S IN MANCHESTER' for you! would be glad to do any ringing around potential venues or anything...

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:39

Yeah I think Manchester is the best option.

I don't think it's very fair on the Scottish Mnetters if we go any further south plus it's a nother good place for trains etc.

OP posts:
FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:40

Ok everyone we've taken over until Carrie/Justine/a mod arrives and IT IS IN MANCHESTER.

Which is great as I live in Liverpool mwahaha!

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:44

Right then...

What sort of event sre we going for?

A hotel for meal and stop over.

Find a local event to go to and get seperate meal and hotel.

Or something completly different.

OP posts:
FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:46

Either way we're going to have to organise the trip to the event where the meal is and which hotel...argh! Shall I have a look to see what's on in the next few months and see if any of you guys fancy going to it....then we can look for a cheap yet nice hotel... what about the people wanting to bring kids, do you think they realised the hotel bit was a probability?

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:49

Well if it's an event then those who cannot stop or want to bring their children can and they won't miss out. They can come during the day and those who want to have a meal and stop can.

Keep the options open for everyone.

OP posts:
FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:51

That sounds like a logical idea

www.visitmanchester.com/ I think this has everything to do with visiting Manchester on it...will look through it now!

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 14:57

Loads of family carnivaly type events so am going to make a list of the good sounding ones... (I've got involved now no ones going to come are they!!)

Newbarnsleygirl · 12/04/2005 14:59

Which ones did you like the look of?

There were quite alot listed.

I liked the sound of the Music one at the end of July. Will keep looking though.

OP posts:
FastasleepTheInsomniac · 12/04/2005 15:05

Shall we think July then? So the event search is narrowed!
