New mums - Derby area

hello mums,

New to mumsnet, new mum - with a 4wk DD, wondering if there were some mums out there who wanted to meet, share horror stories, chat, or generally have a moan. I do try and get out each day, but conversation with a 4 wk old baby is quite limiting.

ba~~~~ds - I really hate some people. what low lifes. you must have been gutted. It's not just the money - but all the hassle of stopping cards, and all the little bits that you keep in your purse.

mmmm - you're right the poos smell, and goodness how much poo can come out of a little girl???

We went to spain for a few days and ran out of nappies - she was pooing that much.

Right will be at debs tomorrow about 11.

Hi, I am new mum with 5m DS from the Derby area. Would love to chat with other Derby mums as Dh has buggered off working abroad for a week.
It was my first week back at work, doing 3 days so not too bad. DS goes to nursery 2 days and MIL for 1. Went ok but beating myself up about leaving DS

madrose · 19/08/2005 23:25

hya, a bit short notice, but a couple of us are meeting for a coffee in debenhams tomorrow at 11 if you are up for it.

I have a dd - nearly 6th months and will be going back to work in two weeks.

don't beat yourself up, I bet he is having a whale of a time. Mind you I feel quite anxious leaving dd, on a day to day basis, she is a little fatty, but when I take in for visits she looks so little - and my heart goes out to her. But she enjoys it, there are other babies to babble to and lots of toys to dribble over.

but dojoin us, if not this week, then another time

Thanks for the invitation Madrose but have plans for today. I felt the same dropping DS off for visits at nursery, he looked so bewildered but he absolutely loved it. MIL doesn't like the fact we have decided to send him to nursery so I think that is preying on my mind too.

DomsMummy · 25/08/2005 13:01

Just to let you know (Derbymom, Shalaa & Madrose) sent you emails re Doms b'day party.

Could you email me your addresses so I can send Holly, Caleb and Mads invites.

Cheers, hope all the monkey's are ok!!

derbymom · 26/08/2005 21:50

Hi all. so we all going to the party then? should be fun.

Hi cheekymonkey. I think all mothers feel the same about leaving there little ones at nursery so you are not alone. However in my experience babies are fine and mothers are ones feeling emotional. My DD went through a bit of an unsettled time when she first started but now she loves it and has developed really fast since she's been there and she goes FT. As for MIL, it's your baby and your decision. You need to be a person as well as somebody's mum. Anyway hope you can make one of our meet ups as it is always nice to meet new people.

shalaa · 27/08/2005 16:54

Hi, both me and dp will be there! Keep trying to email you domsmum but keep getting it returned? Having problems with our internet connection at the moment so might be a problem at our end. Either way i'll keep trying!

Nice seeing you madrose and derbymum the other weekend!

DomsMummy · 31/08/2005 10:42

Hi Shalaa, we've also been having probs so could be either end!! My work address is [email protected] which should work!

Having great fun planning the party, hoping that there will be quite a few people there! sent out 20 invites so far much to Paul's dismay!

Fancy a meet up soon?

DomsMummy · 02/09/2005 15:22

I know it's really short notice but anyone fancy a meet up tomorrow? Missing mum friends since I've been back at work!

madrose · 03/09/2005 09:47

Hya, I'm having a right nightmare with my computer at the momemt. basicually its dying - so sorry not been in touch. DM - it lost your email before I could reply - so have emailed you via mumsnet, but count us in.

Can't make it today - music in Park means that we daren't leave home as we won't be able to repark! so apart from a necessary food trip - stuck at home today.

How about next Sat?

Anyone going to the concert in the park tomorrow? We're going, but will put mads in sleepsuit so can put her straight to bed when we get back.

Mads is cutting her first tooth - glad but sad as no more gummy smiles

she did two mornings at nursery this week - not bad, but threw up EVERYTHING on thursday morning , and now has a very snotty cold.

Snotsucker back in action - but harder to use this time as she isn't daft and knows what I'm trying to do.

Hope the gorgeous babues are well and that you lot are too.

take care
MR xxx

Well i'm free to meet up most days if anyone fancies it? Hope Maddy is ok cutting her tooth, still no sign from Calebs!

derbymom · 05/09/2005 22:01

Hi all. Anybody up for meeting on Sat. say 11 at Debs.

How are the party plans coming along DM? everything organised?

DomsMummy · 06/09/2005 12:08

Hi everyone. Got your email MR, thanks! Got food, bouncy castle, toys organised thanks Derbymom - just hope people turn up as I've only had 4 responses out of 20!! If anyone knows anywhere where I can hire ball pools & bigger toys it would be useful as I don't really want to buy loads of new stuff for one day and we've got a huge hall to fill!

Debs at 11 sounds fab, will be great to catch up. See you all there, parking improved so should make it this time, think I'll avoid Bold Lane though

shalaa · 06/09/2005 14:10

Hi Domsmom,

Got the invitation today, will send the reply back tomorrow (we will be coming!).

I've got an inflatable pool type thing that can be filled with balls if you want to use it? Just haven't got any balls (don't laugh!)

DomsMummy · 07/09/2005 08:48

He he - sorry couldn't help it!!! That sounds great though, seen some balls in Woolworths I could buy to put in it if you don't mind me borrowing it for the day!

Any donations for the day would be gratefully received!!!

shalaa · 07/09/2005 11:57

Have to say it's not very big but you could git 2/3 kids in there!

shalaa · 07/09/2005 11:57

oops should be fit

madrose · 07/09/2005 21:54

Lots of little plastic toys! But I know where there is a toy libray in derby - could be useful. its by the kingsmead clinic.

We're be along on Sat, mads tooth is definity here and she is doing strange things with her tongue. She's settled well in nursery - better than i have at work, can't get organised or motivated.

must go to bed - v tired - see you sat

Going to see Mortgage Advisors at 10.30am so may be a bit late, will have to bring Paul along too if that's ok! x

shalaa · 10/09/2005 20:50

ooh we have to make an appointment with the mortgage advisors! Will try and make it, might have to be a quick visit i'm afraid!

Regarding Doms birthday do the buses run on Sunday as I can't find a timetable!

DomsMummy · 12/09/2005 10:44

Hi Shalaa, sorry we missed you on Sat - I was also v. late! Hope your mtg with mortgage advisors went ok, don't know about you but getting fed up with all house moving stuff already and not even found anywhere yet to move to yet!!

Anyway re Sunday this is the bus service to Hilton:

www.trentbuses.co.uk/timetables/times/?villager.html

But I can pick you up if you like? Paul and his mum are setting up the hall so will give me a chance to get out of the hard work! Doms car seat is ok from 6mths - let me know if that's easier as it takes about 40mins on bus and know from experience how unreliable they are!

shalaa · 14/09/2005 14:43

Hi domsmum, i'm happy either way! Whatever is convenient for you

DomsMummy · 16/09/2005 12:14

Is it convenient for you to get to the DRI entrance on London Road and I could pick you up at about 10.15am? or if not let me know where's near to your house!

shalaa · 16/09/2005 20:07

Hi Domsmom,

10.15 at the DRI is fine if you don't mind! Will be just outside that pub 'the florence nightingale'. Will bring ball pool with us. Hope to see you all on Sunday!

DomsMummy · 18/09/2005 07:38

See you there later!
