New mums - Derby area

hello mums,

New to mumsnet, new mum - with a 4wk DD, wondering if there were some mums out there who wanted to meet, share horror stories, chat, or generally have a moan. I do try and get out each day, but conversation with a 4 wk old baby is quite limiting.

Hi friday sounds good - won't miss it this time. everyone having fun by the sounds of it. me too - teething again!!!

DomsMummy · 26/04/2005 09:50

hi everyone, friday is good for me too. Hope Mads injections go ok - don't worry they're not too bad, honest! Make sure your hubby goes with you though!

Look forward to seeing you all on friday x

DomsMummy · 26/04/2005 09:51

hope Caleb's go ok too!

Pol25 · 26/04/2005 13:30

I'm near Burton on trent if anyone wants to meet up??? With 7mth old Girl

madrose · 26/04/2005 17:20

Look forward to seeing everyone on Friday. Another mum I know may come as well. Domsmum, did you hear back re the new job? Will be thinking of Dom tomorrow, but he'll be fine. RE injections - husband managed to get himself on a course so I'll have to bear the brunt of it. Will be thinking of caleb too, we can compare horror stories on Friday. Looking forward to seeing derbymum too, and pol25 can you make it?

derbymom · 26/04/2005 22:32

Just thought I'd let you know that if babys are suffering after injections they can have half a spoon of Calpol to sooth them. Did the trick for Holly - made her sleep as she was quite grumpy all day. Fine after 2nd and 3rd lot though.

shalaa · 28/04/2005 13:13

urgh injections were very traumatic! Was on my own and Caleb screamed the place down, took me nearly 15mins to calm him down. I cried as much as he did! See you all tomorrow.

I also gave Caleb some Calpol as he got a slight fever and was generally off colour.

DomsMummy · 28/04/2005 17:23

oh dear hope poor Caleb's ok, don't worry I think the 1st set are the worst, at least you know what to expect next time! the calpol should do the trick though!

hope mad's went ok and that she's feeling alright too!

heard back from that job but it will be based in Northampton so is no good thinking a change in career may be in order as derby/burton construction companies seem to all have sites miles away!

on a more positive note nursery was great, I left him after 5 mins as he was playing away happily, I cried like a mad woman when I got out the door though and got some strange looks so had to pull myself together quite quickly!! when I picked him up he was smiling away so really enjoyed it!

anyway enough of me gibbering on! looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow x

shalaa · 28/04/2005 19:20

I'm glad Dom enjoyed his first day at nursery. Think it's more traumatic for us mums then the little ones! Hope madrose didn't have a bad day with the injections.

DomsMummy · 29/04/2005 14:13

Hi guys, sorry I didn't see you today. An agency called this morning to see if I could go to Nottingham to interview and register with them. Had to take Dom though as no last minute babysitters available!

Hope to see you all next week if you meet up

shalaa · 29/04/2005 16:09

wondered where you were! Hope it went ok? We had fun with the babies, would like to meet next week if people are up for it??

derbymom · 02/05/2005 17:33

Hi sorry we missed you domsmummy - hope the interview went well - job hunting is such a pain. Nice to meet you Shalaa and baby Caleb (who was very well behaved), and to see Madrose and Maddie again.

Arranged to meet again on Friday but have something on in morning until 11.30 so would have to be afternoon. Otherwise could do Thurs or next Mon if any good with you guys. Depending on the weather we could venture to the park. Markeaton is very nice but not sure about how convenient it is for everyone to get to. see you all soon.

DomsMummy · 05/05/2005 15:55

You're right derbymom job hunting is a pain, everything's either unsuitable or looks too boring for words! did you manage to find any p/t jobs or are you going back to your current job?

Can anyone make a meet up next friday? would be nice to see you all again.

Oh and by the way Shalaa I got some of that Johnsons Holiday Skin stuff and didn't think it was working at first so kept piling it on then after a couple of days of using it I looked like I'd been tango'd so be careful with it! I had bright orange hands for a week!!

derbymom · 05/05/2005 21:26

Looking for a p/t job but like looking for a needle in haystack - nobody wants a p/t accountant with a 1 year old baby!!! so unless anything comes up in next few weeks am going back to old job f/t not having much luck then?

next friday (13th?) sounds good - debenhams again or something different?

madrose · 05/05/2005 22:31

hello, how are the orange hands - domsmummy??

Next friday is fab - what time?, but will be popping in tomorrow about 12ish if anyone is around - have to get B'day pressie for mum in law! any ideas what I can get a very crazy lady?

Hope the job hunts goes well - I'm just hoping that mads sleeps past 2am this morning, am so tired.

hope to see all soon

opps meant to say we could try something different, if nice could do markeaton - or even darley park (nice bacon sandwiches!!) Or Debs

OP posts:
shalaa · 07/05/2005 13:01

Well we could meet at the main entrance of Deb at 11am and then decide where to go?

Used some fake tan last night and i've got some streaks! Can't find the johnsons stuff, but will definately give it a go now I know it works. (also have orange hands!!)

DomsMummy · 08/05/2005 13:11

Sounds good, can't rely on weather being good anyway as there's a hailstorm here at the mo!

Orange hands have calmed down a bit - still looking a rusty colour though! serves us right for trying to fake it Shalaa! the woman on the advert didn't go this colour!!

Hope Mads is sleeping okay Madrose, don't worry it does get better!

Heard that Reed Recuirtment Agency in Notts is good for Finance jobs Derbymom so might be worth a go.

Look forward to seeing you all on fri x

madrose · 09/05/2005 21:35

Hya, debs sounds cool - but better to meet upstairs at 11, just in case a feeding/changing emergency. DD slept for 10 hours the last couple of nights, but I still woke up at 3am!!!!

Hoping she'll do the same tonight, but DH had to bath her and give her, her final feed, (I got to escape for a couple of hours) and she wasn't having any of it! She went down, BUT who knows what will happen. fingers crossed. See you Friday.

Hi, sorry to interrupt your conversation, but with summer coming (lovely weather today!) I'm getting a bit short of ideas as where to take my son around Derbyshire (preferably for free as I'm a student mum!)? I live in Ripley. I go to Markeaton park quite a lot but fancy a change. Please give me some ideas...

derbymom · 17/05/2005 14:07

Hi everyone sorry i missed you on friday - Holly has been unwell and sleeping a lot - thought it was teething but yet again no sign of teeth.

hope you are all well - i have 2 job interviews this week so fingers crossed. Holly had trial at nursery yesterday. only left her for an hour and she has been a nightmare ever since. really clingy, won't sleep in cot, cries everytime i put her down - driving me up the wall.

any more meet-ups planned?

shalaa · 22/05/2005 11:07

So then, anyone fancy meeting up usual place usual time next week?? What day is good for you?

derbymom · 23/05/2005 21:12

Hi yeah sounds good - unless anyone fancies the park (weather permitting) although I do need to get a few things from town. Wed/Fri are good for me as Holly now goes to nursery on a Mon & Thurs afternoon.

Anybody else up for it???

DomsMummy · 25/05/2005 06:48

Hi all, hope everyone's ok and that Holly's settling in to nursery alright Derbymom.

Sorry, can't make it this week - decorating tomorrow and have got an interview on friday and Doms at nursery today so am going to be lazy and do nothing!

Have fun, hopefully catch up with you all next week.

madrose · 28/05/2005 22:32

Hya, sorry not been in touch - been away catching up with scary parents and friends. feel v relaxed as was looked after all week. But then came home to the house looking like a tip, DH with a major hangover wondering why I looked a little annoyed .

Quite proud of myself as first long journey with DD and we survived

how is everyone for Friday next week, Mads is going to nursery (with me) Friday morning but with be free by 11.30 - shall we watch the weather forcast and maybe hit the park?

How did Holly get on? How was the interview Domsmum? Did Caleb get on ok with his injections?

hope to see you all soon.
