New mums - Derby area

hello mums,

New to mumsnet, new mum - with a 4wk DD, wondering if there were some mums out there who wanted to meet, share horror stories, chat, or generally have a moan. I do try and get out each day, but conversation with a 4 wk old baby is quite limiting.

I think I'm slowly starting to come round......might go and try a small piece of toast in a mo....

derbymom · 06/11/2006 13:20

Hi everyone and new bods. Hope everyone is ok. Unfortunately i can't come on 18th as hubbie is off to football with mates and drinking session is planned for afterwards. Could do the week after if people are prepared to move the date. If not then i will come on the next one.

As for where to go, hubbie and i went to La Tasca on friargate on Sat and it was really nice. Has a good atmosphere, music and food was good. Would recommend. They only take bookings for 8 or more people so first come first served but we got a table staright away.

Started potty training Holly at the weekend. Seems to have gone ok so far - managing to get them in the potty. Bit worried as I've sent her to nursery in pants today so will have to see how she gets on.

DomsMummy · 13/11/2006 15:09

Can't make 18th either as I'm paint balling in the day and don't want to go out all battered & bruised!

As Paul has Dom overnight on Fridays now, doing things on a Friday will always be better for me... therefore is Friday 24th ok?? Sorry - a pain in the A$$ I know!!

Well done you DM re potty training!! Very brave of you to send her to nursery in pants! Hope she's taken to it ok. Dom had his 2 yr Health Visitor check up a couple of weeks ago and she advised to wait another few months - which I was quite relieved about!

Hope everyone is ok, hopefully we'll catch up soon, if not on the 24th!

derbymom · 15/11/2006 12:19

Hi mmm maybe not so brave. Got on really well with PT, wees and poos in the potty. Feeling very pleased with ourselves.......................then she went to nursery. Sent 4 changes of clothes and she'd gone through the lot by 10.30. Too many distractions I think. Plus I don't think they get as much attention at nursery so back to square 1 really. I think we'll have to wait another couple of months and then take a week off work to really get a system going.

Anyway, 24th sounds ok. I'm off that day anyway otherwise it might be a rush. Where are we going? any ideas?

sara31x · 19/11/2006 20:41

Hi Madrose my address is [email protected] great to hear from you.

DomsMummy · 20/11/2006 13:28

Oh dear DM, bet your washing machine is on non stop! Going to try Dom in the new year (mainly because nappies are too expensive, particularly training pants!)

Sorry, again, can't make it this friday as I promised I'd got to a quiz night and completely forgot about it! Can anyone make any other dates?

Otherwise if anyone fancies coming to the quiz night we could do with a few more in our team (so far it's me, mum and possibly two others - we're supposed to have a team of 8!!) it's at the White Swan in Milton?

derbymom · 20/11/2006 16:08

Yes it was - we've put PT on hold for now although this weekend she wanted to wear pants and was going on the potty. I think perhaps she thinks she only has to do it at home.

Oh shame about Friday - although no replies from anybody else. I can't do the 16th or 22nd of December as I have 2 xmas parties. Other than that - best to suggest date and I'll see whether hubbie is busy.

Wouldn't mind coming to the quiz if you don't mind DM. I'll give you a ring later in the week.

madrose · 21/11/2006 21:56

hello, sorry things a bit mental so haven't been checking in opps and been on holiday.

Well I think you're brave for potty training, mads was starting to tell me if she did a poo, but now denies it all. 'had a poo' - d'oh (no)runs off and avoids eye contact and she had spent 5 minutes straining .

Pub quiz - big martial row at ours last monday.

I'm ok date wise, now I know its a saturday, but there is a decentish band playing on the 2nd Dec, in derby ashbourne road (friargate end) - worth getting drunk too - last time I was sick - not sure if I'm proud of that or not.

or theres the 1st, 8th? which are fridays. or there is always the lunch option?

OP posts:
DomsMummy · 27/11/2006 13:50

8th Dec would be ace, can everyone make it??! I know I'm the culprit for pulling out at the last minute but promise I won't!! Although it will be the week before my payday so won't be going mental, but still would be nice to finally go for a few beers with you all

Pub quiz was good, and we won (although my contribution to that was answering a question about Family Affairs, v. embarrassing - I think everyone else pretended not to know the answer, should have kept quiet!) There's another one in the new year DM so will give you more notice for that one!

Really gutted as I forgot to mention that there was an Xmas fayre on Sat in Milton for little Children - sorry :-( I didn't have Dom anyway as he was with Paul) but I was an elf in Santas Grotto - nearly as embarrassing as knowing about Family Affairs! Was good though - although Santa was rubbish and I kept having to tell him to look jolly!

Would love to see the band on Sat but it's a Sat so can't! Out on Friday with work anyway so will probably still feel rough. Have a good time though, try not to be sick MR!!

Hope all little ones are ok.

Can't really do lunch anymore unless it's on a Sun which isn't ideal! Oh well, let me know about the 8th? x

madrose · 27/11/2006 22:17

8th is ok with me.

Took mads to sundown adventureland sunday - tis good.

Waited 35 minutes to see santa, and she hated him, got photo of her straining to get away!

but it was a nice place to go, santa sleighride, tractor rides etc, its a place designed for under 10s, once mads got use to things, she loved it. would be nice in the summer.

OP posts:
madrose · 01/12/2006 20:27

arrrggghhhh can't do the 8th - well not until 11ish. forgot its the school play - certain things a teacher has to endure. Actually should be quite godd if anyone fancies it.

Just wanted to wish everyone a MERRY XMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hope all little ones have a great time and the adults have good break from work!!!!!

Catch up in 2007 xxx

derbymom · 02/01/2007 13:06

Hi folks. Hope everyone had a good xmas and new year. Back at work today. Time off went sooo quickly. Anyway haven't seen everybody for ages and girly night out seems doomed so anybody want to meet up with kiddies in the next couple of weeks and have a good catch up? Perhaps a softplay. DM am I right in thinking Doms at Paul's on a saturday? if so I'm sure we can meet on a sunday.

DomsMummy · 02/01/2007 13:19

Back at work today too, seems very wrong!!

A Sunday meet up would be cool, anyone free on Sunday 21st Jan?

derbymom · 04/01/2007 13:13

Sun 21st would be great. Holly has chickenpox at the moment so will give her a couple of weeks to recover. great timing as only back at work 1 day and now she can't go to nursery for about a week.

madrose · 04/01/2007 22:05

Happy new year

21st sounds good - what do ya fancy?

Sorry about chickenpox - how's it going?

Right mummys keep the 3rd March free (it's a saturday) We're having a party. Not sure where yet - but plenty of birthday cake.

speak soon

xx

OP posts:
DomsMummy · 05/01/2007 13:25

Oh dear DM, hope it isn't too much trouble with work and that Holly gets better soon, at least chickenpox will be out of the way anyway!

Could do bumpi's on 21st or somewhere like Brewsters and grab some lunch or tea at the same time?

Will sort out 3rd March so that we can make Maddies b'day... can't believe she's on her way to 2! They're all growing up too quickly!

Still haven't started on potty training yet, much to elderly relatives displeasure! He just doesn't seem ready though.

Anyway, look forward to catching up properly - it's been ages!

Seeya soon xx

madrose · 15/01/2007 22:03

hey - brewsters sounds good.

How is everyone, we've just got over a virus thing.

all well now.

speak soon

OP posts:
derbymom · 16/01/2007 12:42

hi all - survived chickenpox - hurray. I think she only had a mild case so not too bad.

I can't believe Maddy is nearly 2. She was only a few weeks when we first met. oh they do grow up sooo fast.

Brewsters sounds good - are we eating then? is it the one on pride park?

DomsMummy · 23/01/2007 14:12

Yeah Brewsters on Pride Park would be cool! Is everyone ok to meet for lunch? Could meet at 12pm or something and then let the kids have a play after?

madrose · 18/02/2007 21:38

Hello,

how are you all?? Sorry I've not been in touch, I have been ill since christmas, started of with a virus, picked up by DD sho had it for two days, and then I had it, but developed into a chest infection and a visit to hospital, drips the works.

Which is why I couldn't do brewsters, I did send a text message, but not sure if I had the right number. And my computer has been a pain in the backside and hasn't been working.

Some good news, went away to the Red Sea to recuperate, and had plenty of rest, and sea air and now feeling pretty good, well I did, but back at work tomorrow and feel pants about it all

must catch up soon, M has a party on the 3rd March, to which you are more than welcome to - farm visit and tea

speak soon

OP posts:
derbymom · 01/03/2007 17:12

Oh madrose. that sounds awful. I'm glad you feel better now. I'm afraid I did get your text but I have also been ill for a couple of months and I didn't reply.

Holly would love to come to the party so could you let me have times and places? I think we need a catch up.

derbymom · 11/04/2007 13:53

Hi All - hope everyone had a nice Easter. I hope everyone is OK as there has been a lack of correspondance lately.
