New mums - Derby area

hello mums,

New to mumsnet, new mum - with a 4wk DD, wondering if there were some mums out there who wanted to meet, share horror stories, chat, or generally have a moan. I do try and get out each day, but conversation with a 4 wk old baby is quite limiting.

Shalaa, Derbymom & Madrose - Lovely to see you all at the party, hope the kids enjoyed it! Sorry for not spending much time with you, Dom was quite clingy as you could probably see!

Thanks for the pressies, will open them on Doms Birthday (Thursday).

I've still got Holly and Mads party bags so will take them to Debs next time we meet!

Anyone up for Sat at 11?

shalaa · 19/09/2005 20:07

Yep I can do Sat at 11! Had a lovely day Sunday and many thanks again to you and Paul for the lift! Hope Dom had a good time and you all got a good nights rest?!

DomsMummy · 21/09/2005 10:47

You're welcome Shalaa, it was lovely to see you & Caleb!

We took Dom to the docs on Mon as he's been really grizzly and it turned out he's had tonsillitis! Feel awful as have just put bad breath and grumpy'ness down to teething!

Apparantly the infectious stage has passed so he's back at nursery today. He's slept brilliantly the last couple of nights as well so is definitely on the mend, poor little monkey!

See you on Sat xx

shalaa · 25/09/2005 19:20

Sorry couldn't make Saturday Domsmummy! Only had 3hrs sleep as Caleb has bad cold + teething. Hopefully can do this coming Saturday??

madrose · 26/09/2005 20:51

Hya, did post a message to say that I would pop to Debs, - but for some reason didn't post?????? Wierd!!

Did pop along - but was late nightmare getting organised oh well.

3 hours sleep - opps. strange thing is, Mads slept through last night, and today I'm exhausted - what's that about, having seriously early night tonight and he can deal with any wake ups .

does anyone fancy going to chatsworth for a morning or afternoon, apparently the chrissy decs are up and look good (I know its Sept), I know mads and caleb too little, but would be nice, especially before it gets too cold. anything let me know what you think. I'm going to go anyway, and might make Tim go to, mind you not talking to him at the mo.

If not - when's the next debs date? kisses to babies

just worked out what i did wrong last time - previewed message then logged off - opps

Thanks for your call the other night Shalaa - hope you are all feeling better!

Sorry didn't go to Debs Madrose, didn't think anyone was going so we went to B'ham instead (as you do!)

Hope you are a bit more awake now!! I don't think our bodies are made for all these strange sleeping patterns!! Let Tim deal with the wake ups for a bit! I'm finally training Paul to get up during the night, thought after a year he should be as sleep deprived as me!

Chatsworth sounds great, never been but always wanted to. Can do any weekend so let us know when you are planning to go. Think it's a fab idea to put Xmas Decs up in Sept, wish I could convince Paul to do the same! Anyway will mention it to him as he's never been either.

Catch up soon xx

derbymom · 28/09/2005 21:09

Hi all - had a great time at Doms party. Holly really enjoyed it esp bouncy castle - couldn't get her off it - she slept like a log when we got home. Would love to meet up - never been to Chatsworth so sounds good - can do this sat or next if anyone is interested?

DomsMummy · 29/09/2005 16:49

Glad Holly had fun and had a big sleep! Dom also slept well so maybe bouncing castles are the way forward!!

Def. up for this Sat at Chatsworth if everyone's free, otherwise free next Sat.

Thanks for Doms pressies by the way, they're all fab!!

DomsMummy · 06/10/2005 13:27

In town on Sat if anyone fancies meeting for coffee & cake??!

derbymom · 06/10/2005 22:38

Hi Sorry for delay in reply but v busy with work so no time. Can't make it this sat unfortunately but still up for Chatsworth - am free next couple of sats if any good with you. Another great place which I've recently discovered is Bumpi's on Ascot Drive. Don't know if you've been - it's an indoor play centre with a coffee shop. Holly absolutely loves it and it's free to get in until baby can walk so a bargain afternoon out. We should meet their one sat and give babies a chance to play together.

Holly has MMR jab tomorrow morning - not looking forward to it. Hopefully she will be OK afterwards as first lot of jabs really knocked her about. Have big stock of Medised just in case.

See you all soon

shalaa · 07/10/2005 20:35

DomsMummy · 08/10/2005 08:05

See you there at 11 Shalaa, will take your number with me incase I'm late!

Up for a meet up at Bumpi's, it's great there - even better that adults are allowed on the big slides too!! Perhaps could do that nxt sat for a change, their cake is also good!!

Hope the MMR jab went ok (as well as it can do anyway!) Hope she's feeling ok and it didn't upset her too much, give her a big kiss from me, brave little girl!!

Anyway Dom being a monkey so better go, seeya soon!

derbymom · 13/10/2005 19:28

Hi Up for meeting at bumpis on Sat if anybody is interested. Shall we say about 12?

DomsMummy · 14/10/2005 14:55

Sounds good, seeya there at 12

leggymamba · 14/10/2005 19:41

Looking for somewhere to take dd (2.5) what is bumpis? where is it? and is it expensive?

Thanks

cheekymonkey257 · 14/10/2005 20:53

It's on Ascot Drive, haven't been yet but apparently it's quite good.

derbymom · 15/10/2005 09:27

Bumpis is an indoor adventure play centre - excellent for kids. All paddedd with slides, ball pools etc. Costs about £3 once baby can walk - free before that. Also has a nice cafe so mums and dads can sit and have a drink.

See you all later.

madrose · 18/10/2005 21:59

Hya - really sorry ffor not being in touch. To be honest have been really stressed out, not with mads thankfully, just work. Its 10pm and I've just finished for the evening. I feel as if I have smoke coming out of my ears. Am seriously thinking of jacking it in and finding something a lot less stressful - even the thought of holidays doesn't bring a smile at the moment.

And then we had a scare, Mads was really poorly last weekend, sky high temp and we couldn;t keep her awake so off to hospital we went. Have you ever tried to collect a urine sample from a baby - I was nearly tempted to wee in it myself. 6 hours later - no idea whats wrong, by Monday all back to normal - tigger on speed is back! Thank goodness.

How was Holly's MMR? hope she was ok, not looking forward to that at all, and now getting paranoid about bird flu.!!!

Its Tims b'day this sat, but up for anything another sat. Chatsworth, bumpis - or there is even a really nice soft play area in Belper. Would be lovely to see you all again, been far too long. Take care
xxxxxxxxx

sorry its so long - needed to rant!

DomsMummy · 28/10/2005 11:16

God MR, sounds like you've had a tough time!! Really glad Mads is ok, that must have been scary. As for your job - 10pm is just wrong!! Hope you are making the most of your half term break now though!!

Dom had his MMR on 17th and has been absolutely fine until last night. He was up all night coughing until he was nearly sick and just wanted to be walked round! Luckily he's ok this morning, all be it v. tired! Managed about 1/2 an hour between us so all knackered! the next person to tell me how crappy I look today I'm going to kick where it hurts!

Anyway - that's my moan over! Hope all babies & mums are ok. Can anyone make Chatsworth on Sat 12th (as Bonfire night next sat )

Seeya soon x

madrose · 30/10/2005 21:49

It was a bit scary - but she is back to being tigger on speed again

We've just chilled out at home this last week, TBH I was totally exhausted.

How is Dom now? HAve you caught up with sleep. It must of been a worry being under the weather after the MMR. I guess it won't be long until its time for ours.

RE Chatsworth and the weekend of the 12th - that is the only weekend I can't make it normally absolutely crap social calender - but that weekend we're book up and got a wedding that sat. But we went on thursday and it was lovely. Mads got pecked by a chicken she cried I kicked it- now worried about bird flu!!!!!

Apart from manic chickens - it was lovely. We just did the gardens but can't wait to get to the farm. Probably get eaten by a goat!

can do weekend after????

Hope all mummys and daddys are well and lots of kisses to the lovely babies!

DomsMummy · 02/11/2005 13:17

Glad you had a chilled out wk, sounds like it's what you needed!

Dom's still got a bit of a cough but is much better - think it was a bug and unrelated to MMR, but we always seem to assume the worst for some reason?!

Chicken thing is completely bizarre!! Well done you for giving it a kick though! Will avoid the one with the footprint on it's feathers when we go!!

Can do Sat 19th if you want to meet up? Either Chatsworth (if Mads could cope with seeing chickens again!!), Debs or Bumpi's, don't mind where providing there's coffee & cake!!

Hope to see everyone soon xxx

4kids · 03/11/2005 19:55

Just wondering anybody from Whaley Bridge?

DomsMummy · 07/11/2005 13:16

Hi 4kids, not sure where Whaley Bridge is?! We do sometimes meet up on a Sat at Debenhams cafe in Derby if it's not too far for you to come?

shalaa · 07/11/2005 20:55

Hello peeps!

sorry not posted sooner, if it's not Caleb with a cold it's DP dying from a throat infection! I'm up for meeting one Sat at Debs if anyone can make it?? Sorry to hear about Mads hope she's fully recovered, must have been really scary for you.
