New mums - Derby area

hello mums,

New to mumsnet, new mum - with a 4wk DD, wondering if there were some mums out there who wanted to meet, share horror stories, chat, or generally have a moan. I do try and get out each day, but conversation with a 4 wk old baby is quite limiting.

derbymom · 20/07/2006 13:09

Hi Had a great time on Saturday. Holly was shattered when we got home. Thanks for the presents and cards.

How's it going boobylicious? I bet you're suffering in this weather. when's baby due?

madrose · 24/07/2006 23:21

hello, mads was absolutely shattered and had a very late nap and was still tired an hour later.

it is just amazing how now they are playing, when just a year ago, mads couldn't sit up.

anyone fancy park/coffee in a couple of weeks or so?

derbymom · 25/07/2006 13:10

Hi yep sounds good. park would be nice if weather still good.

I know it's a cliche but.....it is scary how quickly they grow up. and just from week to week Holly becomes more of a little adult rather than a baby. I have to correct myself as I still call her a baby and then think no she's not a baby she's a toddler! Do I sound really old?

madrose · 26/07/2006 20:19

sounds good to me, anyone else interested? when shall we 'park it'

OP posts:
DomsMummy · 31/07/2006 13:10

No DM you don't sound really old! It is scary how quickly they change and grow up and hard to not think of them as our little babies anymore - even though they always will be!

It was great to see you all the other week (even though it was brief!) Can't make this Sat as we'll be in Flanborough (nr Bridlington) - hopefully weather will perk up a bit as it can be bloody cold there!

Will make the next meet up and try to turn up on time! Hope all mums and little monkeys are ok x

DomsMummy · 15/08/2006 14:15

Hi, just got back from a nice break in Bridlington! Had much needed family time!

Are you free on Sat 23rd Sept (sorry I know it's ages away!) I'm trying to book Dom's party at Bumpi's and they need numbers! If you can make it then I'll bring invites next time I see you.

Catch up soon :-)

madrose · 27/08/2006 20:38

arrrrghhhhhh would love to come but we are away that weekend - another b'day. Friend's 40th, to be honest would rather go to Dom's b'day.

OH my god he is going to be 2 that is so scary.

How about meeting up before then? Has been a while, I know weather is poohy.

boobylicious, have you popped yet?

Sara not heard from you for a while, will try and find email address.

Derbymom how are you? Likewise Calebsmum?

And anyother Derby mommys.

Sorry I'm gushing, just panicing about work!!!!

DomsMummy · 29/08/2006 10:55

Hi MR, would love to meet up. I'm going to France on Friday but am back on the 8th Sept so could do Sat 9th if everyone's free. Could do with a good chat to be honest, having a bit of a nightmare time at home, but that's another story!!!!

Will Holly and Caleb be able to make Dom's party? I have to have a minimum of 8 kids and at this rate there's going to be more adults than children!!

Hope everyone's ok, look forward to catching up soon. xx

madrose · 29/08/2006 22:18

hey, if you ever need chat (beer) just say. In fact beer sounds good, leave the kids at home .

was walking through town today, and had thought, a lightbulb flashed above my head , i even spoke out loud and people looked at me , I need to check train times, but might be able to make bumpi's if in morning.

You are always going away - so jealous . so fancy a beer?

OP posts:
madrose · 29/08/2006 22:20

sorry just reread message, I think the 9th is ok for us, anywhere in particular?

OP posts:
DomsMummy · 30/08/2006 15:44

Hmmmmm beer sounds great!

Dom's party is booked from 11 - 12.30, would be great if you can make it MR but if not don't worry, I'm sure you'll have fun at your friends party!

Could meet in Debs on 9th? Say 10.30am if everyone's free?

More importantly, I'm free for a beer anytime!!!! We could arrange a night out sometime and dump the kids with their dad's!!! we'll have to sort something out, could certainly do with it!!

I'll think of you next week while I'm sipping my Bordeaux wine by the pool, he he!!!

derbymom · 31/08/2006 13:04

Hi sorry for not replying sooner - been having a bit of a hard time - I'll fill you in when we meet. .

I'm really sorry but we won't be able to make the party as we have booked a cottage in cornwall for a week and we go on that Sat. We'll have to get together before then. I think Sat 9th will be ok although I'm out with the girls on the friday night so might be a little fragile!!!

Anyway a night out sounds fab. I don't get let out on my own much - life revolves around work, Holly and chores (not necessarily in that order). Rant rant.

Hope everyone is good. See you soon. Not good with presents for boys so give us a few hints DomsMom.

DomsMummy · 08/09/2006 17:05

Got back from France at lunchtime, had a fab time with Dom, shame to come back!

Don't worry about the party DM, I'm half tempted to cancel it anyway with home life being poo but seems unfair on Dom, I'll explain when I see you all!

Hope you're ok though, you sound a little stressed! Think that beer is in order soon, it's about time us mums started thinking of ourselves!

Anyway, is everyone still ok for a meet up tomorrow? I'm heading into town anyway so will get to Debs at 11am - you may be in need of some greasy food with your hangover DM!!

Hopefully see you all there xx

Rodeo · 10/09/2006 22:00

Hi Derby mums!
I am also a Derby mum of 3 (dd1 age 7, ds 4 and dd2 11 months) Ds has just started school and it's just me and the baby at home now and we're bored! Do you meet up in the week or do you all work? I live in Chellaston so not far from Bumpi's or town
Madrose, have I seen you on the Lost threads?!

madrose · 17/09/2006 21:58

Ladies i'm soooooo sorry, completely forgot about the 9th and since I've been back at work - don't get time to check. And home has been a bit crap and at the moment I've no idea what day it is.

I'm so sad to have missed you both, I could do with a chat - home well things with DH have been very very strained.

I'm away for the next two weekends, but how about the first weekend in Oct??

Rodeo - I did (Ithink) pop into the lost thread - ages ago. I get tuesdays off, my DD is 18mths. Mostly hit the park in the afternoons, Markeaton or Darley. heading to tubbybears this Tuesday.

get school hols off, so availbale any day then. but mostly its weekends unless you are crap like me and you forget

derbymom · 19/09/2006 12:44

Hi Don't worry - you're not called madrose for nothing!!! Anyway I think we all need cheering up at the moment. Hope things are getting better at home.

First sat in October sounds good. Please come Rodeo it would be lovely to meet a new face and some more little ones. Debenhams again or do you fancy a softplay?

DomsMummy · 19/09/2006 13:29

Hi MR, hope you're ok. Don't worry we can all have a right good moan when we get together!!!!!

Sat 7th Oct sounds great, a soft play centre would be good. Last time I went to Debs there weren't any high chairs free so had Dom sat on my knee, tantruming, while I tried to eat my veggie curry.... not a great way to do lunch!!

Quite enjoyed that place near Uttox New Road, but could do Bumpi's or somewhere new?? Would be nice to meet you and your little ones too Rodeo.

Would be a good chance to arrange a night out if everyone's up for it. Think we all need a beer or 5!!!

madrose · 19/09/2006 20:56

beer beer beer at the mo really really need beer

Soft play is better, Mads thinks it's hillarious to run off at the mo. Don't mind in a safe environment, but Debs would be pushing it to far.

I don't mind where we meet, as long as I can watch mads, keeps trying to do dangerous things. I like Bumpis, but feel that Mads is still a tad to small for it, unless I follow her round - which I don't mind BUT occaisionally I like to sit on my big bum!!!!!

So how about Tubbys, off uttoxter (sp) road? Bout 10/11 am? Or there is that place in spondon?????

Rodeo - any preferences?

OP posts:
madrose · 26/09/2006 23:59

hya,

are we ok for that sat? we can only do morning as Mads has party in the afternoon. Is 10 to early? Will need to leave about 12ish. As she'll need a nap about 12.30.

Would be great to see everyone. Did dom have a fab birthday?

OP posts:
DomsMummy · 28/09/2006 12:03

Dom's got a party at 2pm so 10am's fine (promise we'll be on time!)

He had a lovely Birthday thanks, really impressed with Bumpi's, they did a fab job.

I spent most of the weekend trying to assemble toys - bloody nightmare - was tearing my hair out by the end of Sunday!!

Hope everyone's ok, look forward to seeing you on Sat xx

DomsMummy · 28/09/2006 12:05

Just realised it's next Sat not this weekend! Sorry, going mad - will still be there at 10am though! x

madrose · 28/09/2006 20:35

my fault - very badly written message - soz.

see you on the 7th

Hi Mums. Just moved into Littleover after living in London for 8 years. I have a 15mnth boy called George. Would appreciate names of any good toddler groups/softplay/music etc. you'd recommend. He needs entertaining! Thanks

madrose · 30/09/2006 16:38

hello, not to sure what is in your area, but on a Tuesday there is a nice toddler group on broadway in Derby. 9.45 - 11.30 and only a £1.

I have a friend who is nearer your way, but we're meetig a soft play close to town, next saturday if you fancy checking it out and having a coffee.

Welcome to Derby
