HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU

Now that we've more or less survived the festive season how about reviving our meet-ups for 2005?

I'm a bit busy next week and the week after with dr. appointments and school interviews for dd, but then my diary is pretty bleak and empty.

So who would like to do what and when

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 18/01/2005 18:12

I won't be doing anything as our tap in the kitchen just went and we have a lovely water feature there now Called the plumber and he'll be round 'sometime tomorrow'. Very precise

unicorn · 18/01/2005 18:22

so who's available? I am.. suggest maybe meet at YMCA, and have a coffee at least?

Anyone???

unicorn · 18/01/2005 22:25

I guess I'm just meeting myself then!

yingers74 · 18/01/2005 22:55

I should be able to make it! As no one else is coming perhaps we should meet at gunnersbury park cafe? Will check mumsnet tomorrow am, have to go off line now!

unicorn · 19/01/2005 07:58

Hi Yingers..
Gunnersbury should be ok... but how about meeting in the big park bit then walking down for a coffee?.... ds needs to tire himself out, as otherwise he tends to run riot around the cafe
(upsetting all the dogwalkers- and people without sproglets!)

I can be there for about 11.

yingers74 · 19/01/2005 08:28

hello unicorn, I will try and be there around 11.15ish if not earlier.

MrsBigD · 20/01/2005 15:36

yingers74 · 25/01/2005 15:40

slink, glad to hear u are well, was a little worried.

met unicorn at the park and it was very nice, unicorn is lovely and my dd was quite fascinated by her ds in the cafe, I think she thought he was pretty cool!

MrsBigD · 26/01/2005 13:51

sorry I've been 'away' for a while, with dd starting nursery (2.5h in the mornings) and me sitting in with ds the days just vanished.

My dad is visiting as of Sunday for 1 week so won't be able to do anything next week to maximase grandparent time with kids

After that no real plans yet and from now on will only be able to do afternoons except for in 1/2 terms, whenever they might be - you can tell I'm a first timer when it comes to the schooling system here

unicorn · 26/01/2005 23:51

Yingers your dd must have the makings of a gangsters moll!..

ds is 3 today and has been totally wired!.. I am shattered, so relaxing by means of good ole MN!

Apologies for swift exit from cafe (but we can never linger wherever we go!!!!).. nice to see you both.. I hope you are well (didn't realise things were developing.. so hope everything is ok?)
ps have read a fab book recently worth your book club reading.. will e-mail you.

Hope you are well Mrs bd.. and slink and all...

let us plan another meet up sometime (I am more talkative/relaxed without kids )

yingers74 · 27/01/2005 09:24

Hello all!

Unicorn, LOL, I would not be surprised!
On other matters I am pretty good. Look forward to hearing any book recommendations. We are a tad rubbish at deciding what to read next!

Am up for meet up with or without kiddies!

If anyone is interested we are having a small birthday party for katie's second, probably Thurs FEB 24th, 10.30-12.30, just a small party, ie, let the kids run around and there will be food about! If u fancy it then let me know.

OH and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to unicorn's ds

MrsBigD · 27/01/2005 13:36

belated Happy Birthday to Unicorn's ds

yingers... brave indeed to have bday party ! I'm sure dd would be more than happy to help your dd unwrap pressies

Slink · 27/01/2005 18:36

Yingers hi i would love to bring dd to the party but she is at school in the mornings.

yingers74 · 28/01/2005 11:11

mrsbigd - will CAT u the details, so if you and kiddies can make it would be great.

unicorn · 28/01/2005 11:20

Yingers,
ds would love to run amok at a party but is at playschool on a thursday.. so will have to say happy birthday to your dd another time.

will try and meet up at next meet up!

network · 28/01/2005 17:25

Hi

New to the site. The family is feeling a little isolated at present and my self and my DD (4)would love to meet with others.

MrsBigD · 28/01/2005 20:04

network welcome whereabouts are you? Acton, Ealing, Chiswick...?

yingers - got your cat thanks for the invite... I'm a butterbrain though! dd is at nursery in the mornings 0900-1130. Could come after that though, but wouldn't be there till about 1230

slink thanks for the 1/2 term info. Am assuming it's the same date for all schools & nurseries?

O.k. all... shall we arrange for a meet-up on 16th February with all the little monsters and maybe Friday 18th Feb or 25 Feb for some 'drunken debauchery'(well for those who are partial to the odd glass - all non-drinkers are naturally most welcome to join us with a glass of virgin mary or such ?

jane313 · 28/01/2005 21:04

hi yingers hope the birthday party goes well. What do you do with 2 year olds?

Would love to meet up again but I still can't do wednesdays and am working over half term.

yingers74 · 28/01/2005 22:11

my plan is to simply let them run around and offer food ie a play date with cake!!!! I am not inviting too many other kiddies just the ones she actually recognises!

She goes one day to nursery so I am going to get a cake for them too so she can have a little party there as well. And the scary thing is that it only gets worse from here on - themed parties, parties at soft play areas, entertainers etc etc

Slink · 31/01/2005 19:01

Were are we meeting on the 16th???? what about the wacky warehouse it's on the A40...... not literally.

Also can anyone give me some good suggestions for hols in easter cheap abroad??? dd's 1st hols ...how sad and pathetic are we.

MrsBigD · 01/02/2005 09:27

16th fine by me a.m. or p.m. depending on whether nursery is closed for 1/2T

Cheap hols with kids... hmmm... maybe Portugal? Turkey?
or check this out

yingers74 · 01/02/2005 13:46

hello all, not sure I will be able to make the 16th, it is half-term, me and dh are thinking of going away for a few days with our dd, somewhere in the uk, any ideas?

Should be ok for the night out though!

Slink, try cyprus or greece, I have heard there are good deals and they are child friendly.

Finally, anyone got tips for how to entertain 2 year olds. The more I think about it, the more nervous I get. Can't back out now though as have sent half the invites out!!!!

Slink · 01/02/2005 15:13

Yingers, we may pack up the car on the 10th and go to cornwall or devon for a long weekend let you know how that goes. Entertaining 2yrs well i would play lots of music we have the disney CD and at dd summer party we just had that played and they danced, you can't play games.. unless parcel parcel if they will sit still that long have lots of toys............Good luck sorry we will miss itxx

Hi Ladies,
Do you mind if I join your thread? I'm a first time mum with a gorgeous 15month DD, I live in Ealing Common (not far from the station)
I don't know many mums in this area and would love to chat with you.
