HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU

Now that we've more or less survived the festive season how about reviving our meet-ups for 2005?

I'm a bit busy next week and the week after with dr. appointments and school interviews for dd, but then my diary is pretty bleak and empty.

So who would like to do what and when

raincheck until everyone gets better?

MrsBigD · 17/02/2005 21:49

rain check this end for tomorrow I'm afraid, still under the weather and ds has decided to become baby from hell. Been up most of last night and probably anotherone to come... gotta love the teething!

SLINK - anytime you need a break you're welcome Can't remember whether you've got my tel. If not cat me and I'll send it to you

Slink · 18/02/2005 13:22

Thank you MRs i sound like a sad ole cow don't i!!!!!.

Glad tonites off though Dh has the bug must look after him after all he looked after me and got me chocs (even though they were on sale in Thortons..)

MrsBigD · 18/02/2005 21:44

it's still Thornton's ;)

No you don't sound like a soc Slink... MIL's can be a pain... ask my dh ;) my mum is coming to visit for a week in March and dh is making sure he has to work at the weekend... do I need say more?! Of course that does not compare with your situation, so feel free to visit me in the afternoons should you need to escape. Well at least until I find a job that can pay for the childcare I'd need... so probably for a long long time going by the job market at the moment

yingers74 · 18/02/2005 22:56

how is the job search going? How much is childcare going to cost you? Nursery or childminder?

yingers74 · 18/02/2005 22:57

so many questions! All of which I will have to answer myself one day..........

MrsBigD · 18/02/2005 23:10

yingers
job search is active but not very successful so far... just sent another application in for a job at the Imperial College - part-time PA and they seem very flexible about the way the allotted hours have to be worked.

Had to chuck in current job as even after the payrise the boss was willing to give me I only would have broken even. Not a big incentive to go back to work.

So far had a childminder for GBP 30 a day but she's gone back to Pakistan for the next 3-4 months. So even if I find another childminder in my area for that kind of money - really depends which side of Argyle Road I've noticed, Pitshanger Lane side is more expensive. So with 2 kids full time at cm I'd be looking at GBP 300 a week! plus of course transport costs to/from work etc.

All very frustrating that but hey... that's life. But really need a job, be it evening or weekend, just for my sanity! After this week (1/2 term) I definitely found out I'm not built to be a SAHM

Slink · 20/02/2005 09:34

Oh Mrs i am sure you are great i love being a SAHM (but only when mil is away) no i am so busy but i will be returning to work in Sept as dd goe sback to work

MrsBigD · 20/02/2005 09:41

Slink - yeah I'm great haven't killed anybody yet! I think what gets to me is that there never seems to be enough time to do the things I need to do, not to mention the things I want to do... ah well I shall see what comes about work wise and shall contend with my lot for now

Slink · 20/02/2005 15:25

I have decided to take my hand to card making??? I am trying to do dd and my invitations and then dd's invitations for her school party and then my niece has asked me to do hers.

Thats after i have made time to study and oh yes look after dd and sick dh. And it 3 pm already arhhhhhh

MrsBigD · 20/02/2005 15:32

isn't live as a mum just great...

yingers74 · 20/02/2005 16:40

mrs big d, totally get u, I have days where being a SAHM is great and then days I think if i have to go to another playsession I will go mad!

Slink, u mean school right? As think your dd is abit young for work!

Slink · 20/02/2005 18:15

DD goes to school i am going to look for work in Sept.. it is Sunday i have been on the brandy and Coke already bere with me girls i know you know what i mean.

So when's the next night out??? Can't do next Friday as may go to my mum's if mil has not got her flight.

And our meet up's with the little ones??? can do anytime after 12pm.

MrsBigD · 20/02/2005 18:22

bere with you eh? I suspect you'll be hitting the beer next then?

Let me guess... you're hoping MIL misses her plane?

Playsessions with little ones. After 1200 fine for me too.

Evening out... well brother's coming to visit this coming weekend, then my mum on 8/3 for a week (argh) then I'm wide open until Whitsunday

yingers74 · 20/02/2005 18:29

night out, normally any days but Monday as long as I get some notice. Wednesdays andFridays can be tricky though as dh usually goes out but if i tell him early enough often willing to swap!

yingers74 · 20/02/2005 18:30

Slink, what kind of work will you go for?

Slink · 20/02/2005 20:53

Yingers at the mo i am when i am not here, playing with dd or nursing dh studying. I am doing a Dip in Child care education so i am hoping to go and do pre school work. Not great but they do not do term time social worker..... terrible isn't it.

Mrs do you know i only drink on social occassions as we do have drink in the house BUT i do feel i need it now and again (and got brandy for dh's cold..but i have been drinking it shhhhh)

yingers74 · 20/02/2005 21:11

slink - LOL, naughty, naughty.

Yes, difficult to work as a social worker and be a mum. A friend of mine is a SW and it is rather full on.

MrsBigD · 20/02/2005 21:48

Slink - purely medicinal of course

I usually could do with a bottle of something every evening (especially during 1/2 term!) as my nerves seem to be terribly easily fraied at the moment, but if I get started with that I'd have to join AA soon (and not the one for the old wreck of a car kind . Usually we think... we should have a glass of wine tonight... by the time we would have it I rather have a cup of tea though. Gone are my drinking years and stamina . Well as my colleages have been saying for the last few years... I'm a cheap date... 2 glasses of wine and there's my limit! {staggers off to bed now}

Slink · 21/02/2005 14:29

Oh i am really good(or should i brag... i may been joining you at the AA) I can drink a bottle of wine and be fine.. not that i do it all the time, last time was a montha ago then on new yrs eve. BUT just back from Tesco's a brought a bottle today... purley to help me study......hicup.....

yingers74 · 22/02/2005 09:40

lol, what are you two like? ok, sound like a goody goody now, i don't drink as am trying to get pregnant, also recently given up caffine and drinking pretty much only water. Basically becaue of my recent miscarriage, feel i should at least make an attempt to be healthy to improve chances of having another baby.

Slink · 22/02/2005 09:45

Yingers good luck. As you know i have been trying so thought i might go to drinking to improve my chances as most people get drunk and find out their pregnant????????????

Actually i am due a period Saturday and know it's coming so i think i am going to stop trying as it gets me down soooooooo much now.

MrsBigD · 22/02/2005 10:33

yingers - good luck TTC
slink - you have a valid point re drinking/pregnancy... when I had ds in September the hospital was very busy... 'strange that' 9 months after xmas/new years.

I always feel 'guilty' when I read about people ttc so hard and feeling down when they didn't 'catch'... we didn't even try for dd and ds ...

Good luck to both of you! Just have lots of fun practising . Oh and you're both still soooo young so heaps of time . Old bag here who had ds at age 36

Slink · 22/02/2005 12:40

You are too kind Mrs but i will be 34 in May and dh HAS A LOW SEX DRIVE SO OF AND ON FOR 2YRS NOW................... may have an affair and tell it's his... no i'd get caught out (just for reference i wouldn't do that)

MrsBigD · 22/02/2005 13:15

damn my connection, had a lovely message typed up and it's gone!

anyhow... Slink, that's a shame with your dh, but you still have a few years left in you

you can borrow my DH he's a regular octopus only joking though if he'd ever touch another woman some vital parts of his would make the acquaintance of a blunt metal spoon

We both have a medium sd but unfortunately usually not at the same time iykwim
