Any meet-ups in the Ealing Area?

Hi there, just had ds, now 7 weeks old. My dd will be 3 in December. Been living in the area for a few years now, but since not working in the City anymore after having dd finding it really hard to meet up with friends (with or without kids) as they all seem to live on the other side of town and it takes ages to get there... quite a challenge with 2 little ones I found (still getting used to having 2 around!)

So looking for new contacts/friends in the area. Been to a few toddler groups before ds came along, but somehow most mothers already seem to be very cliquety and it's hard to 'break in'. Even if I get to chat to someone at e.g. the playground it never evolves, even though I try to be very approachable...

So if you're in the Ealing Area and want to meet up for a chat, tea, coffee or the like ...

P.S. Also I'm German so bringing little ones up bi-lingually if anyone wants to 'expose' their kids to some foreign tones

Is anyone else going? If not I will leave it to next time - don't want to be sitting there on my own!!! I can do Tues during school holidays though.

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 14:21

mrsbidd, what does are good for you? shame you can't make chiswick but perhaps we could all meet up another day less formally at the park or something, assuming the weather holds? which park do you guys go to and which ones have good cafes?

Jane313, what is the park near you like? have never been. a friend told me there are animals there?

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 14:23

and janeybops, am sure jane313 and a few others are going.

jane313 · 11/11/2004 16:37

so a bit of a wash out then! I was there but no one else as I accosted every woman on there own there between 1.15pm and 2,15pm. Luckily there were only 3 as its a the sort of place that attracts gangs of mothers. We had a nice time anyway.

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 21:53

jane313, glad you had a nice time anyway! I will def be there on tuesday though and pretty sure Slink is coming, right? Does your ds walk now?

MrsBigD · 11/11/2004 22:26

jane313 - sorry about the washout. I was really looking forward to the outing, but don't think S&L would have appreciated 2 rather poorly kids...

yingers - usually dd is at cm Tuesday and Friday, but from next week for 1 month it's going to be Tues and Thurs as cm has some physio (she's been lugging too many kids around ).

So on those days I've only got ds who's not doing much yet so 'activity cafes' or playgrounds not really that good for him yet at 10 weeks.

Otherwise dd is up to any mischief, assuming she's not ill that is. Doc put her upset tummy down to drinking the bathwater... so I'm now wondering how ds got the same without sharing the bath, not to mention NOT drinking bathwater... DOCTORS!!! [grrrrrr]

Anyhow enough ranting.

Usually to to Pitshanger Park to the play ground there. Sometimes to Walpole Park if we're in the Broadway anyway and dd demands to go to the Spielplatz... neither of them have nice cafe's though.

I'd be quite happy to host an informal get together at our flat, if people don't mind sitting on the floor or scooching together on the sofa and bean bag. Kids will be in heaven as our place is like toys 'r' us. Any takers for that?

hello mrs bgd!!
Very brave offer!!
If it's a mon/wed or fri morning me and my little tornado ds will come and wreck your pad...!!!
Otherwise suggest a park on those mornings, and I am sure we can find our way!

MrsBigD · 11/11/2004 22:31

I'm a brave sort of person LOL
mon/wed/fri are all generally good for me. How old is ds? Then again doesn't really matter... have toys age range 0-5years gotta hate visits to Hamleys! As for wrecking the pad... dd is doing quite a good job on her own so another helping hand won't matter

yingers74 · 11/11/2004 22:32

Assuming I can get there via public transport and it is not on a friday, should be able to come along! You are very brave and maybe I will finally get to meet Unicorn!

My dd drinks bath water too!

unicorn · 11/11/2004 22:37

yingers.. don't hold your breath.. I am not remotely exciting!!!!

(I just typed that as gurn!! maybe we should have a gurning icon!!!!)

Will be nice to meet you and everyone else too!!

MrsBigD · 11/11/2004 22:38

yingers - public transport not a problem. Lot's of busses from Ealing Broadway

Upps ds is demanding FOOD NOW. Will log off for now but will check diary thoroughly tomorrow to see when I'll 'brave' the mumsnet hords at my place...

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 12/11/2004 12:08

So, have had time to check my diary and a.m. on Monday 22/11, Wednesday 24/11 and Friday 26/11 are all still free - you can see I've got an active social life... NOT

So who's up for visiting my pad* with their dds/dss to help my dd wreck the place?

I'll supplie biscuits, tea & coffee, you'll supply sane or insane convesation as you wish

*for location details CAT me please, don't want to post my whereabouts on here

Slink · 12/11/2004 15:06

Confused although it doesn't take me much.. Ramanadan coming to an end arhhhh.

Ok so we are doing next Tues????
I am free Mondays too??? Mrs BigD do you want that many peps at your place???

You can have the next one at my place, mil away for 3 months from the 15th YEHHHHHHHHHH(SAID VERY LOUDLY)

MrsBigD · 12/11/2004 15:23

Slink, the more the merrier... it'll just be cozier if there's a few peps with their pipsqueaks and it will wear DD out so hopefully she'll have an afternoon nap for once!

So MIL is going away? Looking forward to some peace and quiet then?

Hmmm, here's me thinking... for ealing meets... dh is going to set up a web server at home, so maybe I can throw a meeting planner up there. Have to have word with him to see if that's possible so that mums can put in dates/venues and people put their names against them... you can tell I'm desperate to do other stuff than dd/ds no matter how much I love them

OP posts:
janeybops · 12/11/2004 20:33

I'm afraid I work on Mondays, but have a nice time

jane313 · 12/11/2004 20:38

MrsBigD · 12/11/2004 20:44

jane & janey - I can always arrange for a second meet on a Wednesday or Friday... anything to wear dd out [huge grin] and also a good excuse to eat biscuits

OP posts:
yingers74 · 12/11/2004 20:46

slink, yes we are meeting on tuesday, the outing at mrsbigd is the week after! So i hope you will still go to the cafe on 16th as I plan to be there. Jane313 you still coming along? I aim to be there around 10am until probably 1ish.
