Hi there, just had ds, now 7 weeks old. My dd will be 3 in December. Been living in the area for a few years now, but since not working in the City anymore after having dd finding it really hard to meet up with friends (with or without kids) as they all seem to live on the other side of town and it takes ages to get there... quite a challenge with 2 little ones I found (still getting used to having 2 around!)

So looking for new contacts/friends in the area. Been to a few toddler groups before ds came along, but somehow most mothers already seem to be very cliquety and it's hard to 'break in'. Even if I get to chat to someone at e.g. the playground it never evolves, even though I try to be very approachable...

So if you're in the Ealing Area and want to meet up for a chat, tea, coffee or the like ...

P.S. Also I'm German so bringing little ones up bi-lingually if anyone wants to 'expose' their kids to some foreign tones

Hi all!
There are spaces available at the SW London Xmas bash - if interested (next Saturday in Mortlake)

I'm going (bit of a MN xmas tart a la mo!)

.. so any takers let the CountessD.. aka Silentbite know.. we could all get a cab etc.

SilentBite · 03/12/2004 20:08

Oh yes do come along, it would be great! We are having a nice meal, have booked the whole (small) restaurant out so we can be as norty as we like!

details are on this thread Our last one was a riot....

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 03/12/2004 20:12

pardon my ignorance but where exactly is Mortlake? I know where Wimbledon is...

now I've only got to break the news to dh that I might be going out ... again... having my work bash tomorrow. They invited me even though I'm off on maternity. Nice ain't they

SilentBite · 03/12/2004 20:14

Mortlake is where the boat race ends... between Barnes and Richmond.

V close to Ealing, go round the N. Circular, over Kew Bridge and it's about a mile or two past there.

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 03/12/2004 20:16

oh... near the crematorium! Now I know... we frequent a fish shop near there

hmmm very tempted now... better go off and check with dh ... he better say yes

SilentBite · 03/12/2004 20:18

No, other side of the 316 to that, keep going round towards Putney, it's basically the south bit of East Sheen.
Hope you can come!

yuleicorn · 03/12/2004 20:18

ahh go on mrs!!.. offer him xmas favours!!!!!! (hahahahaha!!!)

SilentBite · 03/12/2004 20:18

Ah do you mean Tropicals and marine?

SilentBite · 03/12/2004 20:19

Get your order in ASAP on the thread if you are coming as I am going to see the restaurant tomorrow pm. You can pay on the day if you like

yingers74 · 03/12/2004 20:30

I did think yuleicorn might be you! Cool name.

Slink - oh no, never mind! Will have to make it another day! can't do 1pm as dd sleeps until about 3pm! I think fate doesn't want you going to the cafe! Cool about school, the whole process scares me, I don't know why!

Mrsbigd - will tell my bro to go check out the argos! I can't wait till she sees it! I have already put our xmas tree up, but no other decorations yet!

regarding social - can't do the monday and wed are out as dh is out but otherwise should be okay!

Oh just noticed your xmas name mrsbigd, very good, LOL

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 03/12/2004 20:34

yes Tropical & Marines is the place

yuleicorn

  • assuming you're going then? The xmas favours worked... dh doesn't mind so'll I go over to the other thread and 'put my order in'... once I've settle dd that is, she's just started screaming the house down
MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 03/12/2004 21:31

Hi All,
though I start a new thread for the Christmas drinkies as I keep getting confused about which days refer to which meet... then again my grey cells and brainmatter still suffer post natal shrinkage

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 06/12/2004 12:30

I'm not very organised at the moment Sad. DD and DS both coughing their lungs out so everything's a bit on the back burner.

Anyhow, if I could get an idea how many people would be interested in the Xmas Drinkies at least that way I've got a number to work with Smile

Please post on the Ealing Christmas Drinkies thread with ideas, suggestions etc.

Thanks

yingers74 · 07/12/2004 22:01

slink, yes i did go and we had a nice time, for whatever reason, the french for tots group had their lesson in the front room rather than their usual place so dd got a bit of free french tuition! I don't know whether I will be able to go as i may be going to the science museum, it is all a bit up in the air but if I can i will see you there.

Take care x

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 08/12/2004 08:19

science museum? where is it yingers and is it good for littlt ones? Smile

Slink · 08/12/2004 09:54

Yingers are you going up by train??? you are very brave for this time of year.

yingers74 · 08/12/2004 14:34

science musuem is in south kensington so just a quick journey on the train. I have been before on the train, as long as you go in the morning and leave before rush hour, it is pretty ok on the train. they have a basement aimed at young children and I think the restaurant sells kids meals and has high chairs (if u need them).

Saying that I think i might just go to the cafe on tuesday and leave anything more until the new year when I have a bit more energy. Smile
