Any meet-ups in the Ealing Area?

Hi there, just had ds, now 7 weeks old. My dd will be 3 in December. Been living in the area for a few years now, but since not working in the City anymore after having dd finding it really hard to meet up with friends (with or without kids) as they all seem to live on the other side of town and it takes ages to get there... quite a challenge with 2 little ones I found (still getting used to having 2 around!)

So looking for new contacts/friends in the area. Been to a few toddler groups before ds came along, but somehow most mothers already seem to be very cliquety and it's hard to 'break in'. Even if I get to chat to someone at e.g. the playground it never evolves, even though I try to be very approachable...

So if you're in the Ealing Area and want to meet up for a chat, tea, coffee or the like ...

P.S. Also I'm German so bringing little ones up bi-lingually if anyone wants to 'expose' their kids to some foreign tones

slink I noticed you can only do Mon and Tues, unfortuantely I work those two days so the end of the week is all I can do. SORRY

MrsBigD · 26/10/2004 18:41

yingers74 - didn't know about ealing135
where is it?
I drive so contact in Chiswick is do-able for me ;) Unfortunately can't give a lift to anywhere though as the 2 kids seats take up all the space in the back

from chiswick high road you can get a 237 which drops you off really near Syon (snakes and ladders). is this any help?
It is also possible to get overland train to Syon Lane from Chiswick, but it is a bit of a walk from the train station

Slink · 26/10/2004 20:03

janeypops don't worry, another time maybe. have a great time though xxxx

jane313 · 26/10/2004 20:18

sorry slink I read your post as could do mon-thursday. I really should take my glasses to work!

I'll bring you an ealing135 leaflet mrsbigd.

Hello yingers. I went to the science museum after you talking about it. Had a lovely day there and it was so nice to be in (more) central london again. And I got helped with the pushchair on every set of stairs. Amazing.

Slink · 26/10/2004 20:37

it's ok jane 313, and sorry got your name wrong janeybops

jane313 · 26/10/2004 20:43

we should do a tuesday one as well that slink and yingers could get to.

Name a tuesday and apart from the 9th I'm sure I could make it

Slink · 26/10/2004 20:55

Tues 16th is ok as Eid will be on the 14th depending on the moon and i can go back to eating arhhhhhhhhh, but if it doen't suit the majority then don't worry.

jane313 · 26/10/2004 20:57

we could do 2 different ones. I only have a commitmment on mondays, everything else is just drop in.

unicorn · 26/10/2004 20:57

hello all, I'm an Ealing bod...

Tues/thurs not too good for me as ds at playgroup in am, and is usually knackered in pm!!

will try and make another meetup tho.

jane313 · 26/10/2004 21:03

I thought you were unicorn. I saw your education thread and wondered which school it was as I have supply taught in loads in the borough.

How did you choose your sons playgroup? I thought I would start looking at them soon for mine.

unicorn · 26/10/2004 21:06

Jane313,

re playgroup, it was recommendation really, but also went in to look at a couple, and got a 'feel'.

you're bound to know the school but maybe I had better be careful(!!).. name no names.. never know just who is out there! (paranoid moi?)

yingers74 · 26/10/2004 21:10

hello! Hey unicorn. Can do any tuesday as the group i go to is a drop in so missing it once in a while is not a problem.

Jane313, glad you enjoyed the science musuem, am thinking of going again in the near future.

mrsbigd, ealing135 is a local group that runs a number of activities for parents/carers of young children. Check it out when jane gives you the details.

MrsBigD · 27/10/2004 08:24

MrsBigD · 27/10/2004 12:24

bgger just typed a message and lost it all!

Anyhow, thought I'd get the ball rolling for organising the meet so if you want to 'attend' (oh how formal that sounds) feel free to contact me via email on [email protected] with subject 'meet-up Ealing' (to avoid the message ending up in the spam folder)

Date: Friday 11th November 2004
Time: 13:30
Location: Snakes & Ladders Syon Park

Would be great if a few parents would show up - being selfish here as I'd need a hand taking turns to keep an eye on ds whilst I try and keep up chasing after dd through the over 5's maze even though she's not even 3!

Hello all, can't make this but will definitely try to make the next meet up? Anyone fancy chiswick play cafe?

MrsBigD · 27/10/2004 13:54

hi there I'm up for everything to wear dd our and to meet new people. What is it and where is it? I did a search on google and guess what... it brings up mumsnet threads ;)

OP posts:
jane313 · 27/10/2004 19:18

there is a web site for it.

childsplaycafe

parking is hard as its all resdients with a few metrres. You may be better off parking below the A4 and walking under? Or getting an E3 bus if you only have you baby with you.

MrsBigD · 27/10/2004 20:08

thanks jane313, will check the website
any plans yet for when to go there?
thankfully have a tandem buggy so can get on the bus with both kids

yingers74 · 29/10/2004 16:21

forgot to say that i am find to go in the afternoon too although probably could not get there until about 3.30!

janeybops · 29/10/2004 18:33

is the meet up at Snakes and Ladders still on or is an alternative?

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 19:36

still planned and most likely 3 mn's as far as I know, though unicorn said she'd have to be there @ 1300
