Any meet-ups in the Ealing Area?

Hi there, just had ds, now 7 weeks old. My dd will be 3 in December. Been living in the area for a few years now, but since not working in the City anymore after having dd finding it really hard to meet up with friends (with or without kids) as they all seem to live on the other side of town and it takes ages to get there... quite a challenge with 2 little ones I found (still getting used to having 2 around!)

So looking for new contacts/friends in the area. Been to a few toddler groups before ds came along, but somehow most mothers already seem to be very cliquety and it's hard to 'break in'. Even if I get to chat to someone at e.g. the playground it never evolves, even though I try to be very approachable...

So if you're in the Ealing Area and want to meet up for a chat, tea, coffee or the like ...

P.S. Also I'm German so bringing little ones up bi-lingually if anyone wants to 'expose' their kids to some foreign tones

Jane - no i didn't - DOH! Yes I love that too, just makes life easier! I wish they would start a play cafe in ealing, would just be an ideal place to have lunch after a shopping trip.

BTW - are there many classes/activities etc in northfields for young children? we are thinking of moving there in the next year or two!

jane313 · 18/11/2004 17:29

yes theres loads. Tippitoes near the tube which is singing/soft play stuff, theres lots of good toddler groups. 135 play sessions, action songs and rhymes. Theres a play centre in lammas park, snips which is a cafe and play group in a church crypt and twisters which is gym and dance classes. also the ymca is in south ealing which is good. Theres also lots of chilf friednly cafes too.

yingers74 · 18/11/2004 22:06

I'm back! Our computer decided to die very spectacularly loosing all our data, photos etc. for 2004!!! I'm soooooo gutted, especially about the loss of photos.

is it arson if it's your own property? I'm tempted to set fire to the pc!

lovely? me? hahahaha, some people say I'm mad for hosting a meet at my place

Could everybody who's planning on coming along this monday a.m. confirm age of dd/ds's, just so I can make sure the 'right' toys are accessible

See you all Monday

am probably going to walk from ealing broadway as i like a good stroll! Normally work from acton to ealing broadway but will take bus as don't think I can manage acton to you! Looks pretty straightforward on the map!

MrsBigD · 22/11/2004 00:02

yingers - it is pretty straighforward... along castlebar hill, and then follow the main road round
See you tomorrow

Lovley to meet you all, need to go and decide wheather or not to take dd out of preschool this week, the Nursery ran(gov funding one ) said they have spaces if she wants to start next week arhh what to do.. mmm another thread to start....

MrsBigD · 22/11/2004 16:49

Was lovely having you all. sorry I didn't have all that much time to chat to everybody thanks to dd having a territorial fit...

I'm definitely on for a meet at the cafe and for the 'mums night out without the kids'
Don't worry about the mess I'm used to it as dd is a tornado anyways.

Slink - well technically your dd is correct my dd is a little bit younger and definitely much shorter

Slink · 24/11/2004 19:18

MrsbigD is this a regular thing at your place then??????????????thats got you thinking???

yingers74 · 24/11/2004 20:10

slink - you are naughty! I am happy to have people at my place (to give mrsbigd a break) now I know you are all not nutters!!!!!

Does anyone know anywhere in ealing broadway that is good for taking kids? I think there is nothing excluding parks, but could be wrong.

Slink · 25/11/2004 12:12

On tuesday's i try and take dd to the ELC for 9.30-11am free play then we go to the libary, but i do think where the Abby bank is there is a carft place for kids and coffee for mums??? i will check it out Yingers. Plus you are welcome to come to me while mil is away, parking is crap though, and can only do mon and tues

MrsBigD · 26/11/2004 20:24

I could make it a semi regular thing and offer my house for destruction twice a month

don't think there are any particularly kid's things in EB. some places don't mind them but...

Any plans yet for the xmas do?

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 26/11/2004 20:28
