My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

Foxie I'd be up for grown-up swimming lessons as I am totally rubbish! Am planning to sign dd up to a Jan "shrimps" class to get her water confidence up as I don't want her to be like me. But even the thought of having to get in the training pool doesn't really fill me with joy!

ScaryScaryNight · 15/10/2007 20:36

Hi guys, I STILL have not managed to get myself to KEW retail park. I am planning to go on Wednesday, will be there between 12.30 and 4.pm -ish. Anybody care to join me for lunch in M&S with my 28 month old Mr Mischief?

I have to go now, starting toilet training, and must must must buy potties and other paraphernalia!

Paddlechick666 · 16/10/2007 08:38

morning all

WTF is it with rain on Tuesdays?

hope everyone is feeling better today including foxiecub and gherkin.

can't decide what to do today now. CM said Brentford pool was great fun but if I want to register dd for swimming then I need to get to Richmond to do that. But I prefer to take dd later in the day and the baby pool closes at 3:30 today

decisions decisions, they seem beyond me today!

Starry, all the potty training advice I've had has been to skip the potty and go straight to the toilet. DD has progressed to telling me she's done a wee so next step is to hear about it before the event LOL.

My mum came up with a classic last week which I love. When dd is doing a poo she now tells me she's hiding and takes herself off somewhere to do it. Mum said to her "next time you tell me you want a poo and we'll hide it in the loo" lol

sfxmum · 16/10/2007 09:48

good morning all

hope little ones and poorly grown ups are feeling better today

given the rubbish weather I think we will do tidy up games followed by jumping in muddy puddles at some point.
I think that even if this winter turns out to be a mild one it will still feel dreadful given that summer never really happened

CovenOVeneer · 16/10/2007 10:01

Morning all. Lovely wether isn't it. I was supposed to be at dd's school this morning helping sort out the shed (they have a large shed where they store all the books/toys etc donated for fairs/events and we decided we need to cull it as there is a lot of cr*p that gets brought out every time, nobody buys it and it gets put back). Unfortunatley we can't do it in the rain so I have a morning to myself instead

Kewcumber · 16/10/2007 11:25

sushi - do you want my mum to take your toys to charity shop? She says she is in the ones in Sheen all teh time and is happy to pick them up at the weekend. She says if you are working you might be glad of someone to help out! I think she is trying to adopt a more grateful daughter!!!

Kewcumber · 16/10/2007 11:26

Gherkin-kun still ill but I think only a bad cold. Ma has him today.

SushiMummy · 16/10/2007 11:42

Oh, what a lovely mum you have!! Well, that'd be great but we don't mind taking them to your mum's either (or the charity shop). We do have a trampoline and other bulky stuff so it'd be awkward for your mum to carry?

Hope your DS gets better soon.

rosmonster · 16/10/2007 11:55

Morning all, ds at nursery today so have cleaned the house and am taking a break from some studying.

I think we'll try and get outside after his nap today, even if its just for a short walk. I am toying with getting ds some wellies so we can go puddlejumping - any thoughts from those among you who are experienced welly buyers?

Kewcumber · 16/10/2007 12:01

How about I come over with her to cherry pick what DS might like and depending on how much is left, she can either stick it in her car or not depending on how much of it there is.

SushiMummy · 16/10/2007 12:07

Sounds like a plan, QC. We are around this Sat if that'd suit you.

Hi Ros. I always buy wellies from our fab local shop in Kew.

rosmonster · 16/10/2007 12:09

Is that the one near the station?

Paddlechick666 · 16/10/2007 12:10

ros matalan, tesco & asda have all got good value wellies in at the mo.

what size is ds tho as I have a postman pat pair as donated by Oxo so they'll be 4th hand but still plenty of wear in them. size 7 iirc.

we had a great swim and signed up for the classes starting 1st week in Nov. dd is going great guns and really getting around under her own steam now with just armbands.

always said she was a water baby!

sfx, text me if you're up for a bit of shared puddle jumping this arvo. don't mind coming over your way.....

sfxmum · 16/10/2007 12:12

hi Ros I get them from the Shoe station in Kew too, fab service and they have great rain ponchos which keep active toddlers really dry

rosmonster · 16/10/2007 12:13

thanks! Might venture out and see about getting him some today. Thanks for the offer Paddle, but ds is only a size 5 so they'd be a little big on him! I just wanted to avoid Clarks at all cost as I just keep hearing really bad stories about their shoes & service.

sfxmum · 16/10/2007 12:31

hi Paddle we might pop out a bit later, but just nearby by the river. although I am getting a bit overwhelmed by just how much rubbish I need to sort out around this tiny flat

SushiMummy · 16/10/2007 12:37

Sorry Ros, just finished my lunch. Yes, Shoestation, it is. I'd avoid Saturdays as it gets really crowded (tiny shop). My DS has a pair of dolphin shaped wellies which he looooves.

Kewcumber · 16/10/2007 12:38

Sushi - I think Saturday is fine, we just need to agree a time and I'll talk to my mum. She is lovely. Has just rung to say DS is fine, nose running like a tap but much better than yesterday.

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 16/10/2007 12:43

Oh good news on DS! Sounds like a simlar cold that DS has with running nose (number 11). Mine cried a bit at nursery this morning which is very unusual.

CovenOVeneer · 16/10/2007 12:53

Hey all. Just settling own to a bite of lunch after picking up ds from nursery. He made apple crumble today so pudding sorted out for him and dd tonight. Poor mite fell over on the way home and put his hhand on a stingy nettle. Couldn't find any dock leaves, any ideas on anything else I can use?

stepfordwife · 16/10/2007 12:58

hi all
how we all diddling?

foxie, will give some thought to the grwon-up slimming/swimming lessons. but not sure i could bear it. can you swim at all?
hmm, kew, your offer sounds good, tho..do you throw in a pair of goggles?
and we will indeed be trick 'n' treating...remember one of my guilt trips last year was CM doing the honours....so tell your ma we'll set up a special code..
foxie, what time does one go t n t? know what/ can't remember ever taking them, although have had little parties.

hope ds is better soon. CM rang up to say she's feeling a bit dodgy - so hope she's better for tomorrow/thurs! 9she said selfishly) had to do a phone interview with dd milling around thisd morning. sounded really professional when she bellowed;' me done poo-poo, mama!"

ho-hum, lunch, i suppose..
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 16/10/2007 13:02

funnily enough have just bought dd some wellies from woolies - the shrek ones your ds has got, cov. £7
sadly, they didn't have the £4 ones in her size and i refused to let her have the high-heeled (!) barbie ones...

poor ds, cov. i usually find saying breezily:'let's put the magic cream on!" then putting anything to hand on does the trick. the power of suggestion..

CovenOVeneer · 16/10/2007 13:06

Tried that steppy but it is really red and is stingy, poor guy, he is only just recovering from his sore willy.

foxensteinscreature · 16/10/2007 13:08

Swimming lessons??

Bunyan
Foxie
Steppy?

Steppy I can just about do doggie paddle - I really am rubbish. I have always wanted to swim though - just think we could swim in Cedars if only we could swim

I will investigate

Also interested in getting a Belly Dance class started at The Barn - its such great excercise!!

Hope CM is not sick on Friday - thats "my" day!!

SJ99 · 16/10/2007 13:11

Hello all

Had to take DS to the opticians today, he was really good until he jumped off my lap and started fiddling with the buttons, next thing I knew was my chair was going up and down, LOL. Fortunately they said his eyes seemed fine from what little they could see as he didn't stay still for very long.
He's having a nap now and then we're off to the docs for his jab later, not much fun for him today.

Steppie at story.

COV not sure what else clears the sting but it should wear off soon enough.

Also need some wellies, will try and go to Tesco tom. I saw someone wearing the high heeled wellies the other day, they looked weird
