My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

huff! talk about doin the ditch Kew!

i'll prob still do it as it'll be my last chance to do this sort of thing with her.

gulp. am really starting to realise how much i will miss my tuesdays off with dd

SushiMummy · 15/10/2007 10:17

Morning all.

So this is where you are hiding, then.

Foxie - hope DD gets fully recovered soon.

QC - did you get the envelope?

foxensteinscreature · 15/10/2007 11:03

Well DD woke this morning saying "I'm better now" and has trotted off to school

I think its partly starting school which is exhausting her but I suspect she may hav a gastric virus. Its just wierd that no one else here has caught it. Especially DS1.

CoV your Dcs (and DH LOL) are very lucky to have a Mum who can cook such lovely food. I'm more o a warmer-upper, but I love preparing vegetables. Couldn't make a pie to save my life though

Kew/Paddle I need grown up slimming lessons as I am rubbish. In an ideal world (you know, the one where I have the lottery win) I wuuld swim every morning before breakfast (served to me by a well oiled Italian Stallion). If anyone knows of some good adut lessons, or joint Mummy/baby ones let me know (i.e. where Mummy learns too)

Paddle your friends are lovely - I had a real laugh yesterday when they were here. A is very relaxed and good fun isn't he? I will ask him about the PC when I manage to clear up the room a bit. BTW I got the Posh coat too - for £45 (new with tags RRP £125) - no one else bid! So in effect I got two coats for the price of one new one IYSWIM

So that meamns I saved money

foxensteinscreature · 15/10/2007 11:05

Ooops,I need "Swimming lessons" not "slimming lessons" (Freudian slip or what?)

sfxmum · 15/10/2007 11:23

good morning all

foxie - hope dd gets sorted out it sounds tiring for all involved.

must get dd out but I must say that has been draining lately, for some reason (mb because she is 2) she has started shouting everything then looking at me and saying 'don't shout please, it is not necessary' stealing my line

paddle are the swimming lessons at pools in the park? I dread booking things it does not really act like an incentive to go, quite the opposite, but I think dd needs something more regular iyswim.

hope you all ok

ComeOVeneer · 15/10/2007 11:49

Morning all, glorious sunshine here, must get ds out in it, although tbh he is currently favouring rain so he can wear his new shrek wellis and puddle jump. He asks me if it is a "raining day" when he gets up and is dissappointed if the answer is "no"!

stepfordwife · 15/10/2007 12:40

hi everyone
what a glorious day
glad you all had a good evening at cov's

SJ, as you haven't met me yet you can go on imagining what i look like - think angelina jolie but prettier...

foxie - poor dd, yes, maybe a check-up 9not with the boy doctor, tho)
lol at 'slimming' lessons....

kew, what time are the lessons on?

sfx - yes, i think 2 is one of the most delightful ages but also the most 'challenging'...as well as 8 and 6...

paddle, would love to come out and play tomorrow, but working.

toodlepip

stepfordwife · 15/10/2007 12:56

foxie, i think they do "grown-up" swimming lessons at pools on the park.

i've often thought of having them, too. as i'm rubbish. i don't like being out of my depth (in life or the pool...)

not sure, tho, i could take the public humiliation of bursting into tears when the teacher tells me to jump in the deep end and/or having to be fished out with the pole

SushiMummy · 15/10/2007 13:46

bumped my head (close to left eye) against a wall really badly yesterday and I look like a battered wife atm! This morning DH tripped over the stair gate and possibly broke the toes. DH refuses to go to the docs as he thinks there's nothing they can do.

SJ99 · 15/10/2007 13:57

Ouch Sushi, that must've hurt BTW where do you buy the seaweed from, I might start making some sushi myself?

Foxie hope DD is feeling a bit better, hope you manage to get some rest.

Not sure if I'm going to book swimming lessons, DS seems to have developed some water phobia since we came back from hols but loves going to the pool. He prefers to splash and play on the steps which is fine. But I don't really want to fork out for lessons if he's not going to stay in the water for the whole duration of the lesson. Or maybe the lessons might encourage him to stay in the water, what do you think?

SJ99 · 15/10/2007 13:59

Steppie - I picture you as more like Nicole Kidman just because she was in the film Stepford Wives

foxensteinscreature · 15/10/2007 14:02

poor you Sushi!!

Can confirm Steppy looks like Angelina

Steppy would you be interested in grown up lessons> scared to go on my own. I could try and find out when they are...[grovel] [grovel] . Imagine all the future swims you could enjoy with your DCs

Kewcumber · 15/10/2007 14:02

steppie - Mondays are 12-12.20

Sushi - yes thanks got the money. I now have enough for the Kew membership when we can confirm 2Cute would like it.

Thanks for food Cov and sushi Sushi (IYSWIM!) - can't beleive I ate raw sea bass I'm such a wuss. It was very nice though.

Steppie/Foxie - I am a v good swimmer and am very kind - will give lessons at my special mn rate of £40 per hour - guaranteed success or I keep your money.

CM rang - DS not at all well may have to leave early.

QC - poor DS, hope he gets better quickly. My DS has a cold atm, seems a lot going round.

SJ, got mine sent from Japan (much better quality). You can get seaweed sheets from Waitrose/Sainsbury in Richmond and they are not too bad. My local Olivers (organic shop) has some, too.

SJ99 · 15/10/2007 14:30

No wonder the seaweed was so good if it came from Japan! I found a really good oriental shop when I was in Sweden and they sold good seaweed but have never bought it in the Uk so didn't know where to look. Will check out Waitrose then

QC - hope DS gets better soon

Kewcumber · 15/10/2007 15:56

Steppie - my mum wants to know if your kids are going to trick and treat? If so she'll get something in for them and if you ring her when they head over she'll actually open the door rather than hiding in the back!

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 15/10/2007 16:29

i hate trick n treat! sooooo american. don't mind giving a few sweets to the kids on our street but there's a constant stream of the little blighters that i've never seen before in my life!

plus, all the knocking wakes the baby up!

it's 2 weeks away tho isn't it?

sj, i'd say do the swimming classes as it will help ds get water confidence more than anything.

anyone up for a swim tomorrow am? weather forecast is pants !

sfxmum · 15/10/2007 17:13

nearly starting a AIBU thread about the local teenagers - why must I be forced to see the local mating rituals on way home with dd?
this new couple seem to have tongues permanently down each others throats

Sushi that is awful - hope you feel better soon
and about your dh, broken toes affects balance and back because it affects the gait.

sfxmum · 15/10/2007 17:14

and hope gherkin is not so bad and recovers quickly

SJ99 · 15/10/2007 17:18

Thanks PC - swim lessons did look good, I was spying on the class last Fri when we were in the pool. They have a few places left. Cannot come swimming tom, having a medical day - taking DS to opticians am, god knows how he is going to read the letters LOL! Then he is due PVC jab in the afternoon.

Just got tickets to see Kaiser Chiefs next Fri, woo hoo!!

foxensteinscreature · 15/10/2007 17:29

SJ at you going to see the Kaiser Chiefs

K ew I saw Ds today -he looked a bit pale and very quiet (didn't get my usual cheeky grin)

Paddle minelove trick or treating. We always do it down the road next to us, as it is moe lucrative All the kids around here do it frantically at the same time, so I see loads of Mums and have a chat and it is good fun. Then we get home and after an orgy of sugar and E numbers, I hide the remaining sweeties in the cupboard and then forget them for a year!!

OMG I have period pains Hven't had any AFs for 16 monts so had forgotton how awful they are.

BLUUUUUURRGGHH!!

rosmonster · 15/10/2007 18:45

hi all, I've been on my course today so have only just caught up with everything!

Kew - hope gherkin is ok
Foxie - glad dd seems to be better

Can't do swimming tomorrow, but might go later in the week.

SushiMummy · 15/10/2007 19:05

Foxie - I always had most excruciating period pains prior to DS arrival and had a couple of tests to investigate the cause but they couldn't find anything other than blocked fallopian tubes which wasn't the cause.

Now I have no pains whatsoever. Feel rather strange as I suffered every month for so many years.

I really thank DS for that.

Kewcumber · 15/10/2007 19:51

mum picked him up early foxie but I think it is just a heavy cold. He is very prone to throat infections and last time it became tonsilitus so I am a bit paranoid. PLus he stops eating and drinking when his throat is sore. However he can't be that bad as he ate chocolate buttons and ice cream and water for tea!

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 15/10/2007 19:52

I think my mum will have him tomorrow though - better safe than sorry. Will go in late and come home early so she doesn;t have a full day.
