My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

oh well, at least i can get my washing on the line i s'pose.....

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 09:50

Morning all. Sounds like a fab day for going out. (It was raining when I left this morning.)

foxensteinscreature · 17/10/2007 10:11

H evryone

Sushi do you work?

Slng - Hiya - I am extremely gorgeous looking BTW HaHaHa - what do you look like. I look like Jessica Rabbit, as opposed to Angeline Jolie.

Scarey - whereabouts in India did you live and for how long? My DH lived there for a while too. It must have been hard being so isolated. My friend has been working in Belize for 3 years for the FCO. She had a fab apartment with a cook cleaner, air conditioned car with driver etc, but she felt so isolated she used to trap the cleaner for conversations, just so she's have someone to talk to. I think all her colleagues were men a well, so she didn't even have women work colleagues to talk to. She's in Beirut now!!

Well DS1 and DD are both off school today - which means I can be a Waynetta Slob

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 10:15

Foxie - yes, I do work. I know I'm on MN a lot but I work Mon-Fri. Are you WFH today?

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 10:17

Oh, foxie reminds me of the actress from NZ, can't remember her name. You know the tall and red-haired one..?

foxensteinscreature · 17/10/2007 10:22

Yes, Shirking from Hone

what do you do?

sfxmum · 17/10/2007 10:26

Sushi do you mean Nicole? spitting image really with added curves

foxie - was thinking about that book should you have it around somewhere before it becomes too late

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 10:27

I work for an asset management company, prior to DS arrival as analyst now mainly on compliance.

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 10:30

No, not Nicole but similar type. She was in a fantasy film.

foxensteinscreature · 17/10/2007 10:34

Sushi we have asset management whre I work too - but social housing. Is yours private sector assets?

sfx - OMG will look for book today as I am home all day. Can you do me a favour and nag me if I haven't mentioned finding it by the end of the day. I get very easily distratced...mainly by MN and Ebay [wink

SushiMummy · 17/10/2007 10:43

Foxie, our assets are mostly equities (stock and shares) and fixed income (bonds). We'd probably made more money if we invested in properties.

sfxmum · 17/10/2007 10:49

sushi only one I can think of is Xena but not red hair, scratches head>

foxie - sure I can nagare you WfH on eBay? is that a second business?

ok Tesco man has been and dd wanted to demonstrate to him that she could do a wee in the potty - we must have a talk about private -
now can sort self out and go out

stepfordwife · 17/10/2007 11:55

hi everyone
how's everyone diddling?
no, no, foxie doesn't look like nicole, I do..well according to SJ's imagination, anways..
atually, SJ, in a certain light, my friend, in a certain light....

foxie, hope dd and ds1 are feeling better, have just sent you a text.

kew, how's ds doing today?

god, sushi, your job sounds very brainy

lol at dd, sfx, bet the tesco man "dropped" mighty speedily

had parents' evening for ds1 and ds2 last night - one of those times that makes me feel i'm pretending to be 'grown-up" as can still vividly remember when my own parents trudged off to school to be told what a genius i was

stepfordwife · 17/10/2007 11:57

cov...hmmm, after my name, eh? eh?
actually hoping to grow into it. i've always been a late bloomer, so maybe my domestic gene will kick in....

have you seen there's someone called stepfordchav posting?!

Kewcumber · 17/10/2007 12:34

yes I noticewd - wondered if it was your alter ego?

DS is slightly better today unfortunately I am slightly worse!

An old secretary of mine used to say I looked like Ingrid Bergman (deluded old bat!) though my mum thinks (or used to think) I looked like Julie Andrews . Wasn't impressed by that in my 20's.

Currently looking a lot more like Godzilla.

stepfordwife · 17/10/2007 12:40

hmmm, was that just before she asked for a wage rise, kew
actually, yes, i can see you in a bergmanesque light...nothing of the julie andrews about you, tho!

no, it's not my alter ego...

glad ds feeling a bit better. it's a bummer when you're both feeling ill, isn't it?

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 12:43

hi all, lovely day finally!

Kew - hope your illness doesn't worsen for the weekend.

Sj - that would be great re Tesco welly status

I had a hospital appt this morning so dh took ds to Lollipop where (apparently) he was besieged by all the women there and he had to form a queuing system to talk to them all !

Anyway, ds off for a nap, I'm off for lunch and then we're hopefully meeting up with a friend this pm, this will be the 4th time we've arranged to meet so fingers crossed it won't be cancelled again!

foxensteinscreature · 17/10/2007 12:44

Steppy - we had parents evening last night too. IKWYM about pretending t be grown up Now if I can find my moby, I'll be able to find my text messages

sfx - don't let me off the hook today with that book I had a quick look but need to be more focussed about it

foxensteinscreature · 17/10/2007 12:50

sfx - I've found the book!!! Its brilliant BTW

Do you wat to pop round and collect it. I am about today but am shirking from home atm as you can see and hope to pop out to Sheen this arvo...at some as yet undecided point in time

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 12:52

Hey all. Our parents' evening is tonight. I find it so hard to keep a straight face and be all grown up when you have to perch on those ridiculously small chairs. DS exhausted himself puddle splasshing at the park and then Monkey music class and is now asleep (fingers crossed until I wake him to pick dd up). I have 3 dozen cupcakes to ice this afternoon for school bake sale. I thought I would copy this

bunyanvillas · 17/10/2007 12:55

Wow Cov, those cakes look fantastic, you are clearly an uber-mummy! I managed to knock up a lemon sponge the other day, and that was progress for me! I am not good at spending time in the kitchen!

SJ99 · 17/10/2007 12:58

Lovely to see you Paddle today and thanks so much for boots and mac, will try mac on him after nap and see how it fits.

Pity wellies were too small, will have to join forces with Ros on the great welly hunt . Unfortunately Tesco's selection was rubbish for boys i.e. non-existent, but they did have lots of nice girl style wellies.

Sushi - are you think of that fantasy film with Jennifer Gardner in it? Don't ask me what it's called though....

QC - get better soon, now I'm imagining you singing the hills are alive with the sound of music

CovenOVeneer · 17/10/2007 13:02

Buny, that is an image of the cakes I want to copy, not the ones I have made, I am icing them this afternoon. I will get dh to help me upload a picture of them when I have done them.

rosmonster · 17/10/2007 13:27

Well, it seems it was my friend's turn to cancel today! Doesn't feel like we'll ever get to meet again at this rate!

Need to think of something to do this afternoon now...

Sj - thanks, must admit, I do think Tesco's is a bit rubbish for boys things, they always seem to have so much more stuff for girls.

Kewcumber · 17/10/2007 13:29

I would much ratehr people focussed on the Ingrid Bergman bit than the Julie Andrews bit...
