My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

Hi Oxo [waves]

Sushi Hi - have a nice time a the athletis ground! What are you planning for next weekend? We are free on Saturday

xoxo · 04/11/2007 19:19

HI Foxy [waves back]
this new set up is freaking me out. Must use site more often....

Kewcumber · 04/11/2007 21:10

sushi "hopefully our DSs can play together quietly while we have a nice cuppa!" I'm assuming this is sarcasm because you have met my DS...

Blimey she is cheap - don't suppose she's do Monday afternoon would she? Could you email me her phone number?

LOL QC!

Talking of cheap - I am still looking for cleaner if anyone has a spare one!! mellow has a brill one but she's £9 an hour which seems a bit dear to me

ComeOVeneer · 04/11/2007 21:24

Foxy I aim to head straight in your direction after dropping dd at school, so will be at you 9.30ish. Is that too early for a cuppa? (I will have ds in tow btw) I will only stay a short will anyway as I want to get Ikea over with as quickly as poss.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 04/11/2007 23:30

Went to Richmond Athletic Ground fireworks, didn't see any of you there but Jason Leonard sat a couple of rows behind us with his family...

Good show and DS enjoyed the fireworks, although I was peeved at the half-hour delay... fortunately we had bought a light-up wand and a light-up flashy necklace noisemaker thingy so those kept him occupied for a while... thank goodness for the (older) children behind us who nobly pretended to be being enchanted by his wand when he waved it at them.

Apparently Battersea Park fireworks on Saturday were fab -- a friend of a friend we saw at lunchtime said they were the best he'd ever seen (and he was in Sydney for the 2000 Olympics, so that's no shallow praise). May try them next year... hmm...

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 05/11/2007 07:57

Lemonaid - sounds great!! Glad you had a nice time...

CoV I need to pop to the swimming pool to pick up some goggles and info on adult lessons, but should be back by 9.30am. If I am running late I may try and text to say where I am as I will only be 5 minutes away

Would be nice to see you and your DS

Catch up later Grrls

xxxx

hauntedvillas · 05/11/2007 08:01

Who is Jason Leonard

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 05/11/2007 08:26

Jason Leonard

Paddlechick666 · 05/11/2007 08:32

Jason Leonard, AKA the 2nd player on the England rugby team who has a modicum of talent and the ONLY player whose talent isn't all in the toe of his boot.

hauntedvillas · 05/11/2007 08:58

I have clearly been missing out on a good thing

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 05/11/2007 09:25

(of course, he's not actually been on the England rugby team for the last 3+ years, but paddle is a traditionalist...)

sfxmum · 05/11/2007 09:25

good morning

guess paddle doesn't really rate the England team
team sports just not followed in this house, dh completely uninterested in such things.

but was quite pleased Paula won although I used to really dislike her

I could hear the fireworks at the athletic and many more besides well into the night

off to meet friend and child at Kew later on hope you all have a nice day

SushiMummy · 05/11/2007 09:52

Morning all.

QC, will email you with the number.

Foxie, I've invited QC to take a look at the toys we want to get rid of. My house is tiny and messy but if you don't mind that you (and everyone else) are welcome this weekend.

Went to the field next to the athletic ground [stingy emoticon] but DS didn't like the fireworks (too noisy) so we went for Chinese instead where you could see the fireworks without the noise.

Paddlechick666 · 05/11/2007 10:20

doh! jason robinson i meant.

sfx is right tho lol

will also be having a cull of toys in the run up to moving me-thinks!

kew, hope swimming goes well. let me know as it'll be me and dd tomorrow.

nice to see you yesterday too

SushiMummy · 05/11/2007 12:55

Have emailed you, QC. She does Monday pm. She also does a complementary massage (shoulders and head), too. Very Japanese!

Yingers74 · 05/11/2007 14:19

so no one got any party entertainer recommendations then? HELP!

SushiMummy · 05/11/2007 14:22

Sorry, Yinger! No experience here.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 05/11/2007 14:32

Not for that age group, sorry. I've seen a few for third birthday parties but it's hard to say how they'd be with five-year-olds based on seeing them with two- or three-year-olds.

I think there's stuff about this in the MN archives, though... might be worth a search.

stepfordwife · 05/11/2007 14:36

hi chaps
how you all diddling?

lemonaid - i was at the richmond athletic ground fireworks too. they are fab, but it was half-an-hour late last year, too.

how many weeks are you now? how are you feeling?

aheam, if we're going to name-drop, i spent most of sunday with jason leonard (and about 100 small boys) at a mini rugby tournament. his son -plays in same team as ds1 and ds2. very nice chap (father and son)

foxie, thanks for cuppa - and dd happy she got her fix of your ds2
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 05/11/2007 14:39

oh ele, i've got a hectic week with deadlines,i'll probably have to give thurs a miss (cue sound of violins..)
that's trouble with work flow being unpredicatble at times. but will take an executive decision later in the week.

ComeOVeneer · 05/11/2007 14:43

Hi all. Nice to see you Foxy even if it wasjust a brief chat on the door step. Ikea trip was 100% sucessful (which makes a nice change) but I have come home feeling totally wiped out. DS is asleep in the driveway, and dd has a play date and then ballet so I won't see her until 6pm tonight. Just putting my feet up for 1/2 an hour with a cup of tea, before I tackle the housework. I slack offor a week whilst I am ill and now have so much to catch up on.

stepfordwife · 05/11/2007 14:43

sorry, yingers, have never used a party entertainer.
will give you a shout if any come to mind, tho, from parties we've been to.

SJ99 · 05/11/2007 14:44

Hello all

Glad those of you who went enjoyed the fireworks and star spotting

We went to Kew yesterday, the autumn colours were lovely.

DS not napped in cot the past few days, grrr. As soon as I put him in pushchair he's out of it, what gives?

Sorry Yingers, no idea about entertainer

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 05/11/2007 14:47

Aloha highly recommends John Styles and it looks as though a few other MNers have been happy with him. Other MN recommendations for Graham Lee, Action Station, KidDoodle and Fruit Salad Faces (that one's face painting etc. rather than strictly entertainment, though).
