My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

Yingers74 · 06/11/2007 09:31

thanks fox, will indeed google her! cannot believe I am already stressing over her 5th b-day party! Must calm down!

SushiMummy · 06/11/2007 09:59

Morning all.

LOL foxie. Very clever!

Just a quick one for MrsR to say I am happy that biopsy went well and fingers crossed for good results.

stepfordwife · 06/11/2007 12:26

glad things looking good, mrsR. keeping my fingers crossed..
foxie, am seriously considering the swimming lessons....

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 06/11/2007 12:51

Wahhayy!!

I have signed up for swimming lessons and am so excited - Steppy they start tomorrow and run for 5 weeks. It is only a 30 minute lesson so is not a huge committment.

I am SOOOOO excited

I have this vision of me going for a regular swim at Cedars (I have decided that Cedars membership is more important than buying food and clothes LOL) and having a cappucino afterwards in their fabby cafe, with DS2 in the creche (OK so this is the lifestyle I very much aspire to )

Go on Steppy - take the opportunity while it is their and join me!! Anyone else interested??

CoV so you you spotted my deliberate mistake huh?

Yingers - JJJ is very good I really like her I find organising kids birthday parties the most stressful part of being a parent LOL!

Well I had a free fireworks display in the garden of one of DS1's friends last night. Very posh house (like 3 x the size of our house) - the fireworks lit by his friend's Dad. It reminded me of when we were kids and our Dad used to do the fireworks each year.

There is something really magical about watching your Dad do the fireworks, due to the extra excitement caused by wondering whether he'll survive!! There were a couple of scary moments when one of the rockets slipped and the rockets fired off towards US, rather than into the air, but we all survived.

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 06/11/2007 12:51

Can you tell I am on a "I am going swimming" high ?

SJ99 · 06/11/2007 13:12

Good for you Foxie enrolling in swimming lessons, you're nearly living your dream

QC glad your swim lesson went quite well. DS wasn't so keen on swimming on his back either. I just told him to look at the lights on the ceiling, that helped. Unfortunately we can't join you on Fri as that's when we have our lessons.

BTW QC have emailed you about adding my name to 'the list'

Lovely day again today, park for us this afternoon I think if DS ever goes for a nap!

sfxmum · 06/11/2007 14:14

foxie go for it with the swimming, so which gym has creche? I dream of swimming by myself these days I just squat about the toddler pool

nice time in the park today, spoke to a nanny looking after 3 under 3's and I think she is about 70 herself, at least. I often see her at the playground and C&C lovely woman and very funny

think we have painting this pm and maybe little walk to the shops

paddle thanks for pic/card dd delighted

Kewcumber · 06/11/2007 14:47

Foxie is talking about Cedars which is private and my old gym but I can;t afford the £80 per month plus creche fees for the amount I could use it. Tis nice though. I think The fountain leisure centre also has a creche but no idea what the gym is like.

OP posts:
SJ99 · 06/11/2007 14:53

I think Cannons has creche too...but I too couldn't justify the monthly fee for the amount I would use it, plus you have to pay extra for the creche.

Kewcumber · 06/11/2007 14:55

yes - did get your email SJ will get around to reissuing list with you in it shortly...

SJ99 · 06/11/2007 14:58

Thanks QC

sfxmum · 06/11/2007 14:58

thanks KC bit dear am mean these days regarding things for myself.

but I have been seeing these women running along the river path with their very buff personal trainers and have wondered how much they cost

Paddlechick666 · 06/11/2007 15:13

hi all

glad pic/cards have arrived and are liked.

swimming went swimmingly altho 20 mins does seem a bit stingy and the water temp was a little cool i thought. mind you, i am permanently freezing these days so....

my vendor has written saying they want £2k compensation for lost rent and extra expenses as sale has now taken so long.

i have replied by return something slightly more polite but essentially the same meaning as "get stuffed! it's costing me a shedload more than you. tell the agent to cut their fees if you're that desperate".

i am truly at the end of my tether and financial rope with all of this.

bike ride to cambridge park this arvo for us. can't be arsed with the trek to kew today.

Paddlechick666 · 06/11/2007 15:15

ps: bike rides and doing toddler size/shape free-weights negate the need for gym membership in the paddle house.

used to love my gym time tho

altho, even if i were flush and could afford it i wouldn't have the energy!

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 06/11/2007 19:05

Hi everyone

[ency] of you enjoying the crisp weather while I was stuck in office all day

OK swimming begins tomorrow night

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 06/11/2007 19:07

One last question:

Does one really have to walk from one's locker to the pool in just a costume, or can one bring a burka?

fitfox · 06/11/2007 19:11

New topical monicka

SJ99 · 06/11/2007 19:21

Foxie - Swim hat doesn't look great but they're brill for keeping hair out of the way and does stop some water getting in ears. Goggles great esp if you don't like getting water in your eyes

Don't do make up when I go swimming

Tampon usually does the job

Never had boobies escaping prob, I guess just buy a cozzie that fits!

I tend to keep towel at side of pool rather than in locker to minimise amount of walking I have to do in cozzie, LOL

Foxie you'll be fine, have fun

SJ99 · 06/11/2007 19:25

No nap again for Ds today, I went into his room to get him from his cot and somehow he'd removed his dungarees and was proudly telling me there was a picture of Pooh bear on his nappy

Anyway because he was tired for once he was happy to sit in pushchair while I did some shopping this afternoon. Was meant to buy an engagement present for friend but ended up buying a candle for myself,

sfxmum · 06/11/2007 19:38

SJ well done on treating yourself

foxie for me big norks inside proper swim
suit with integral underwired bra, otherwise I think they would float ahead of me by some distance

cap only under duress it is useful but I just tie my hair then wash it afterwards

goggles only if I am doing serious laps but not much chance of that any time soon.

tampon usually ok. have a lovely time and make up? never.

might possibly take dd to pool tomorrow.

hope everyone ok today plan to do some knitting while watching spooks - dh asked if I was pregnant because last time I knitted non stop

sfxmum · 06/11/2007 19:40

a burka? ffs! show your body woman with strategically placed towel as you walk

Kewcumber · 06/11/2007 19:58

agree with all previous answers except strategically placed towel. BE brave woman if I can expose my enromous body to the unsuspecting public then you can - its a swimming lesson not a beauty pageant!

OP posts:
fitfox · 06/11/2007 20:08

OK thanks for the advice

I think I will just tie my hair - not sure about goggles though They look very uncomfortable to me

Not wear make up??? OMG!!! OK for you brunettes but not good for me as I have no eyebrows or lashes (think Cate/Tilda?)

Will try and remember about the towel but less worried about flabby butt on show than about having no eyebrows...

Just heard DD telling our lodger how the last lodger: "used to leave his smelly dirty clothes all over the floor. He was SO smelly!!" PMSL!

fitfox · 06/11/2007 20:10

...to which current loder replied: "I think its a hetrosexual male thing"

Nt ure DD understood that but she will,in time...
