My mum just arrived and let herself in. Apparenty DS rang her whilst I was in the shower and didn;t hang up so she couldn't call back to check I was OK. She arrived thinking I had fallen down the stairs and instructed DS to call (he's not actually smart enough yet to understand numbers!)

Better than the police I guess.

Hi y'all.

Will also be thinking of you Monday MrsR - I have the day off to take DS to his first swimming lesson. Plan to attemet getting my annual haircut in the afternoon somehow. Sushi - does your hairdresser lady cut grown-up hair too and is she dirt cheap? [cheapskate emoticon]

We're off to a fireworks party tomorrow teatime with fireworks at Bank of England sports club after party but I think I'm going to skip them and come home or perhaps watch from the house. DS wacthed the fireworks of one of our neighbours while we were out for our pre-bedtime constitutional and he quite liked them until they got to the loud ones at the end. Don't think he'll be impressed with even louder professional ones!

Nice to bump into you Sushi - we should arange to meet up next weekend as I think (?) I'm free all weekend for a change.

hi y'all ?????

did you fall into a vat of bbq sauce and come over all texan?

dd is snoring thru the firestorm! please explain how one creaky floorboard can rouse her but major fireworks can't?

i'm knackered tonight! combination of very early start and a bit of physcial excercise and i'm about ready for bed now!

why is saturday night tv so rubbish?

who wants to start a MumsNet West London Bike Club?

Kewcumber · 03/11/2007 20:33

only kind of bike club I'd qualify for would be not the kind you're talking about... (those not anymore obviously)

I am prone to southern drawl occasionally - have always had pretensions to be vivien leigh.

I had the same thought - foreworks vs floorboards Paddle. One of lifes great mysteries.

Off the get some dins as DS has just dozed off (eventually!)

Sat night TV rubbish? You clearly aren't watching Family Fortunes. Unmissable.

at my triple post. But to be honest there isn't much else going on this end so I'm going crrrrazy on the 'ole (Texan) keyboard.

Paddlechick666 · 03/11/2007 21:08

christ! you just exhorted me to watch Family Fortunes 3 times!

and I don't even have any chocolate in the house.

am seriously considering starting an AIBU To Be Addicted To Peanut Butter Toast thread.

can i go to bed yet?

sfxmum · 03/11/2007 21:36

well back from fireworks and dd fast asleep. it was really good as there were mostly families with small children to start, kids gentle fireworks at 7.15, not scary not loud.

we left as the bonfire was lit and most big people arrived

dd loved the little fairground rides and was very tired when we got home.

I must learn to ride a bike
oh and Halo managed to go jogging in the morning

sfxmum · 03/11/2007 21:37

paddle I like peanut butter topped with marmalade on ryvita yum

stepfordwife · 03/11/2007 22:45

sorry, sfx, peanut butter and marmalade
that's just not right..

glad you had a nice hols in tenerife, mrsR. will be thinking of you on monday, too.

paddle - x-factor. not crap enough for you? i'm loving it, for one reason - rhydian.

and haunted..it wasn't just family fortunes, eh? it was celebrity family fortunes (said in post-orgasmic tones a la dervla kirwan in those truly dreadful M & S food ads.....)

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 03/11/2007 23:06

Hello Grrls

sfx - did you go to the fireworks at ravenscourt park?

Lemon - OMG!!! We arrived there too - a bit late admittedly - to see that the event was 5pm-7.30pm - NOT 7-9PM. Its my CM's fault (not that I am into blame culture)as she old me it strated at 7pm - but please accept my apologies.

We ended up going onto Richmond Hill and having a drink at the Roebuck. There were loads of families with Kids there (think Italian Promenades - early evening, everyone dressed up warm, everyone out with their kids, buzzy lively atmosphere). We had lovely time actually and the kids enjoyed a treat of lemonaid and crisps whie we watched fireworks going off all over London from our lofty view on the hill, glasses of chilled Sauvingon Blanc in our mitts. Very nice . It remided me of things we used to do when I was a child.

So over to yours next year Haunted? We can get the men to do the fireworks eh?

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 04/11/2007 07:10

Your CM clearly didn't want you turning up early and nicking her places...

sfxmum · 04/11/2007 08:35

morning all my turn to get up with the kid

steppie LOL dh calls me a pervert when I do that on crumpets

foxie sounds nice on the Hill, we did go to Ravenscourt very nice to have kids bit earlier and the crowds only really arrive as we leave

stepfordwife · 04/11/2007 08:45

morning all
trying to do a bit of work, but dh's riot control downstairs is failing miserably..

sfx, that's very civilised takig turns for a lie-in...keep intending to do that..but dh is a much better morning person than me

foxie, sauvignon blanc on the hill. tres civilised. might have to join you next year..

going to cobam/chobham soon (can't remember which one) to watch the little fellas in a rugby tournament. in reality, will just be chasing dd around, of course. better have decent coffee there...

then richmond athletic fireworks later. went last year and dd was fine, but we'll see...

Yingers74 · 04/11/2007 10:45

Hello all,

Need a little help, I am already trying to figure out what to do for my dd1's birthday although it won't be till feb! Does anyone have any recommendations for a good entertainer? she will be turning 5!

Thanks guys x

ComeOVeneer · 04/11/2007 12:27

Morning all. I am slowly on the mend. Foxy, a huge apology. I did't go to the do last night as was still feeling rotten. I asked dh to drop the coat in n his way (he went with the children), there was a lot of traffic so he went a different route and planned to drop it on the way home, then of course he forgot. I am going to IKEA (oh joy) on Monday morning and was planning to go to the one in Croydon, but I will go to the Wembley one so I can drop it of then. So sorry it has taken forever to get it back to you.

ExpLEUSIveS · 04/11/2007 15:00

guyfoxsetsparlaimentalight · 04/11/2007 17:23

Hi everyone

CoV poor you - have the ABs kicked in yet?

I am around tomorrow so give us a knock if you fancy a cuppa - otherwise feel free to just shove through letterbox!!

Hope you are on the mend now

LOL Lemon - I suspect CM also turned up too late as well!

SushiMummy · 04/11/2007 17:32

Evening all!

It was lovely to bump into you and Gherkin-kun on Sat, QC. We are free next weekend, too. We have a nice train set so hopefully our DSs can play together quietly while we have a nice cuppa! Everyone is welcome btw.

Off to Richmond Athletic ground now.

QC, my hairdresser charges 20 quid for a cut plus a train fare (from Stockwell). She's really nice and very good. Highly recommended.

SushiMummy · 04/11/2007 18:00

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, MrsR.

xoxo · 04/11/2007 18:42

Hi guys
just popped in to say hello and are you all ready to brave a night of fireworks?
remember life pre-kids when you would be huddled round a hot toddy watching firework displays instead of ensuring kids are knackered so have slight chance of getting through the night?

am off to do some property searching now. slight chance (50/50) that we are moving to hampshire. not sure about this at all.
