A good thing to do (if you don't have good anti-virus software already) is to go to housecall.trendmicro.com and follow the instructions to do an online scan. It will take a long time to run, though (possibly overnight) but I've found it pretty good.

Do you have anti-virus software installed? AVG Free Edition is good.

What about anti-spyware? I'd install and run both Ad-Aware 2007 Free Edition and Spybot Search & Destroy which between them should pick up most things.

Run Spybot
