For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 09/10/2007 09:26

good morning allanother lovely day doesn't it just feel like summer?

steppie dd also tops her 'you are not paying me enough attention NOW' performance with a wee somewhere inconvenient

paddle glad you fell better, not sure about pool today hate it when it's raining buses can be unreliable etc.
think dd will have to be happy with just jumping in muddy puddles

ros do you sing with ds? it is quite a good tool, fun relaxed and introducing vocabulary etc.

Kewcumber · 09/10/2007 09:29

morning - not sure about the "good". Just to go one up on Paddle - DS woke at midnight then at 4.30 and wouldn't go back to sleep. Made the mistake of putting him in my bed whereupon we spent the next two hours with me hissing "lie down, go to sleep" so he'd lie down with his face really close to mine then if I didn;t open my eyes he'd kiss me

I am like a dozy moron today.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 09:35

kew, sympathise with that. had similar here on occasion. dd used to be such a good co-sleeper but now it's just an excuse to play!

god i hate the rain! was really gung-ho about getting out on the bike this morning but dd is the only one with waterproofs.

would prefer to leave swimming till this arvo as dd sleeps so well.

am sprouting a big spot on my chin so maybe missing the black tie do is for the best.

tbh, i've 40% talked myself out of it anyway. i have asked if i could bring a mate but haven't heard back yet. and not even sure either of the 2 people i have in mind could make it anway.

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 09:43

sympathies KC dd does not kiss me she just shouts loudly 'open your eyes' while poking me

these days she has been sleeping most of the night in our bed, it's like clockwork wakes up at around 1am jumps on our bed and goes to sleep again, we really need to sort out her bedroom.

paddle are you sure? a spot is not a big deal you can sort it out and a night out can do wonders for the mood

rosmonster · 09/10/2007 09:45

Morning all, already had two huge tantrums this morning from ds! He didn't want to get out of his cot, just kept waving and saying 'bye bye', and then didn't want to get into his puschair! Feel exhausted already!

Kew, ds is 2 in January, steppie thanks for the comments. Like you've all said, I'm sure he's fine, I do lots of singing, reading, chatting with him so am sure he'll be fine.

SushiMummy · 09/10/2007 10:37

Morning all. Oh dear lots of poorly ones. Hope you all feel better soon. It must be the weather.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 10:47

I hate rain

I'm bored, dd's bored and it don't look like it's gonna get any better

bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored.

feel like i should be doing something earth mother-ish and spending quality time with dd but all she wants to do is pull my hair.

Thank god for Peppa Pig!

rosmonster · 09/10/2007 10:53

Thank god ds is at nursery this morning! I think we might just stay in this afternoon and get the play dough out

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:04

why oh why did mothercare take down the cafe?

it is very annoying I think I really must go out soon otherwise I will be very cranky, not to mention the toddler
-but not just yet ITNG is on

Kewcumber · 09/10/2007 11:06

sfx and paddle - get out there and swim...

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:10

huff! just turned over for dd to watch ITNG and she's demanding LazyTown! Contrary child!

Yes Kew, swimming later. Think I'll venture there on the bus and go to Wagamama for tea on the way home.

First time in a restaurant alone with dd [apprehensive]

SFX, did you go for Thai the other day in the end?

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:11

ps: am feeling a bit grotty again........

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:11

you mock me?

baking cookies appeals to me right now

or might start a thread on 'how early can I test'

or I hate all bf lentil weavers softies child centred fools

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:14

no we are thinking of drafting teen babysitters on half term and go alone.

we might just go for puddles then mothercare new emporium and get more paper for drawings etc.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:14

talking of which, Bringing Up Baby is on again tonight.

I now view this as a sort of therapy. I can yell abuse at the TV and release a lot of my pent up anger and frustration.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:17

early lunch and early nap for dd today i think. she's been up a while now.

wish i was walking distance to somewhere like mothercare.

also wish i could:

a) bake
b) have the patience to do drawing and painting with dd.

i find she's bored herslef after 15 mins and all she produces is a messy brown splodge.

for 15 mins activity the mess and clearing up just isn't worth it.

okay, I volunteer myself for Crappest Mother of The Day.

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:17

I have never watched that ever!
likewise can't watch the thing about China stolen babies or orphanages or any kind of thing where kids get a rough deal, it is on another level but it haunts me can't do it

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:21

paddle dh's and my personality are fairly different it is interesting to see how we play differently with dd and how she responds to each differently.

I really believe, that as in childrearing 'methods' , playtime has to fit the parent's personality.

Kewcumber · 09/10/2007 11:25

I have lovely DS height pen scribbles on the toilet door - does that count as a crafty activity?

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:28

yeah, definately!

if you ever feel like removing it, try baby wipes. worked when dd scribbled on the wall the other day.

jeez, the rain just got even heavier.

am getting tetchy now!

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 11:33

they don't work on walls just strips the paint

dd likes her scribbler now

rosmonster · 09/10/2007 11:47

I've been watching BUB and I don't why I do as it drives me absolutely insane every time I do!

Was also thinking of swimming but don't think I can be bothered. Plus ds is still getting over a cold so might leave it till later this week.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 11:50

worked in my walls....

sfxmum · 09/10/2007 12:11

obviously I have low quality paint on my walls

about the swimming I still have the tail end of a cold and it gets chilly in that pool when you come out of the water, dd is ok I just wrap her in a robe but I freeze.

foxensteinscreature · 09/10/2007 12:34

Hi just quickly popping in from my very public desk at work!!

Steppie LOL at you working from home with DD attached to your back

DD is off school today with DH, having a rest

DS2 kept me awake ALL NIGHT - I am sooo tired...

sfx - peed on stick to see if I was ovulating that is (not to se if I was PG)

Rose - try not to worry - the spectrumof speechdevelopment varies massively - many of DS1's friends were hardly speaking at 3! Your DS is still very young. You'll look back on these days before he could talk, with great affection!!!
