Paddle hope you recover some over night and about the party can't you force him/her to go

foxie hope little one feels better soon they are resilient but it does turn our hair grey.

I am extremely PMT like but hoping I am wrong and it turns out to be something entirely different - getting ever so slightly obsessed now

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 20:57

Paddle [hugs] Hope you feel better tomorrow. You need to curl up in bed with an Italian Stallion Paracetamol

SFX I got pmt each time I was PG R U using a predictor kit ?

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 21:00

thanks sfx, am eating toast and jam and feeling a little better now.

technically i should know a few people at the bash but my closest work friends are doing other things.

i am really good mates with the guy i was going to tag along with. have done as much on the emotional blackmail front as i can.

hopefully some others are going and i can tag along with them......

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 21:01

is that the italian stalion of the west london stables? (as plotted at kew a few weeks back hush hush)

foxie no just very unscientific approach this time but I guess I better get serious only thing is using temp charts etc makes me very anxious

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 21:05

Paddle - can you get someone else to step in if your friend can't make the ball? Hope you feel better soon. Used to stock up on Tesco paracetemol as they used to cost £2.50 for small packet in Sweden

Foxi - hope your DD gets better soon

My friend is over from Sweden this week and staying in Chelsea. Looking forward to seeing her and her little man tomorrow but forecast is rain - we might go to Science musuem, will let you know if it's any good

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 21:09

the science museum is great but can get too busy in the kids interactive zone but dd loves it likewise the Natural history museum

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 21:10

sfx - i just peed on stick .

ros I appeared to have cuddled you by mistake sorry no offence just a silly tag game with my niece on FB

foxie yes will be doing that by weekend if only...

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 21:31

evening all, hope assorted dcs and mums feel better soon. I'm just on the tail end of a cold with cough, finally seems to be clearing up.

Paddle - I've sent you an email!

Really annoyed about HV, I went along today to have a chat to them about ds's speech and they've changed the hours. No longer available on a Monday, 1-3pm on Tuesday (when ds is asleep!) and Weds is only for up to 9mo! I know they're short-staffed and funded etc but still, I don't see why they had to change the hours on Tues

Rant over!

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 21:34

lol sfx, nice though

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 21:45

and at HV are they the best help? are you concerned? it seems early for worries but of course you know best

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 21:46

and i thought you loved me sfx!

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 21:49

woopsie I really should be tied up when I am hormonaloh well

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 21:56

I'm not really sure sfx, its just when I went a couple of months ago and ds wasn't really talking, HV said to bring him back in around now if he still wasn't really speaking. He is saying a lot more words now, not putting any together but I don't really know what to measure that against. I posted in behaviour/development and everyone there has said not to worry yet so I think I'm just going to keep an eye on him and see how he goes.

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:04

interestingly my HV said that she wouldn;t be in the slightest worreid about lack of speech until they are at least 2.5yrs as long as they have good comprehension. DS says virtually nothing that is comprehensible except Mum-meeee and cak cak (quack quack)

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:05

richmond offer a developmental check by HV at 2.5yrs she said that was early enough to assess his language.

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 22:07

I know there are a few of speech therapists on MN
as you know I am not one but have worked loads with speech problems, helping develop, following programmes/ assessments by ST. I guess we could chat if you want.
but all kids are different all develop differently, and really if he shows understanding and follows instructions then maybe it is too soon to worry.
but it is always ok to keep encouraging in a positive way.

sorry if sounds patronising not my intention and it is just my opinion

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:10

based on a very unscientific poll of mumsnet and friends I would guess about 1 in 20 or 30 mothers owrries about speech developement. That would imply that one child in every class of NT childrne would have a problem speaking but obviously thats not true. I suspect that the majority of non-speakers at 2yrs accelarate their speech between 2 and 3.

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:20

I've just done a trawl of the interenet on speech and..
a) it is true that boys speak later than girls (just about every study shows this apparently)
b) on average women always have the verbal edge over men (just thought I'd add that gratuitous piece of infomration )
c) everything I read said if your child is developing normally in every other way don't worry until 2, 2.5, 3 (depending on which thing I read)

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 22:31

yeah, that's what everyone else said on the development thread as well! I've decided that I am worrying unnecessarily and I'm sure ds is doing fine. Sfx, you didn't sound patronising at all, very helpful in fact!

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:34

when is your DS 2 Ros?

stepfordwife · 08/10/2007 23:33

evening all
how y'all diddling?

foxie, poor dd. starting school is so tiring for them, isn't it? and she hasn't got asny energy if she's not eating properly. get some smoothies down her.

ros - really wouldn't worry about ds' speech yet. comprehension is the key. mine have all started at differnt times. ds1 was born talking, i think, ds2 hardly seemed to say a wortd until he was about 3 - couldn't get a word in edgeways, i suppose! - and dd - nearly 2-and-a-half has just recently started linking sentences together and really coming along.
just talk to him constantly (sure you already do) with a running commentary on everything, however daft you feel sometimes, leaving gaps for him to "talk" back.

paddle - sure you'll make it to the ball, m'dear

you'll relate to this (that's an order) - had to meet a deadline with dd at home. i let her trash the room to keep her occupied. then, in desperation, she squeezed into the chair behind me and i let her brush my hair for 20 minutes.

now my hair ain't the sort you brush - just a good poke with a pitchfork now and then suffices.
her finale was taking her clothes off and doing a wee on my desk. (no, it didn't trickle into the keybortad, thank the lord)
yep, got my work done, but crap mum award or what..
ach well, just one morning out of the girleen's life, eh?
hope everyone feels better soon (you sickly shower, you..)
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 08/10/2007 23:34

and. kew, good idea about adopting react as our charity.

Paddlechick666 · 09/10/2007 07:32

morning, dd was awake at 5am

she went back off till 6:15 but i didn't. anyone know how to stop the radiators ticking? sure this is what's waking her.

well, the rain has scuppered my plans for a bike ride this morning.

am thinking of swimming this morning or this arvo now. anyone keen?

steppie, totally relate to the room trashing distraction technique. i am now calling it that sensory play thing tho

foxie, hope dd is a better today. should be able to let you know about the room today.

right, we're having dippy eggs for brekkie today.

ps: i feel better today than i did yesterday so not sure what that was all about.
