MrsR, I used to have a toy fairy wand that gave a little jingle when waved.

Whenever projects started going off into La La Land I'd wave my wand and declare "It Shall Be So".

They got the message!

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 14:46

LOL, that reminds me of a magic wand that was given to me as a present at the end of a project I worked on as there was always pressure for me (I'm an accountant) to come up with the right numbers. I used the wand on future projects and it to pull the wand out when they asked for more profit than the project was ever going to make!

It does certainly get the message across !

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 15:37

I want a wand. Now.

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 16:22

now then Kew, in our house "want" doesn't work. try "please may I have".....

anyone else feel like crap? friends took the last of my paracetemol and i am achy and shivery and have a filthy headache.

poor me

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 16:39

I think my dd is a bit like your SJ ds mondays are always a bit 'off' I like to go out for a walk/ playground early.

but today tesco man got lost called me 3 times then arrived nearly 2hrs late. then couldn't work out how to use the buzzer and then wanted me to come down and pick up the shopping followed by no apology for lateness at all.
that will be me complaining later

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 16:40

paddle - sympathies, does paracetamol work? I use to hate having to make do with that during pregnancy.

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:43

Paddle - my DD feels like shit too

She is still recovering from the Vom Bug she had last week and she keeps falling asleep at 4pm each day - sleeping through till 7.3am - meaning she gets no food in the evening.

She begged to go to school today and in the playground an oaf-ish 8 yr old boy ran into her, sending her flying. There was a sickening thud as her skull hit the concrete and then silence as she just lay there. It was awful. I have taken her to GP and he say she seems Ok but she seems to me to be suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome or something
Plus, her eyes are full of ecsma and GP gave me steriod cream for her EYES !!!

thanks sfx, i don't really like taking anything but when i do it's paracetemol. it's cheap lol.

found some dodgy old soluable aspirin and took a couple of those which has taken the edge off.

have got some nurofen cold n flu if it develops into anything more.

plan for tonight is get dd into bed and have a bath then watch Doc Martin and veg out!

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:45

I hate tumble tots!!

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:47

Paddle I always take Ibuprofen unbranded (cheaper) - seems to have more impact than paracetamol

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 16:49

foxie, poor dd. sounds like she's really under the weather.

dd was being a PITA at Kew on Saturday arvo and ended up cracking her head on the flags by Vickie Gate.

We were leaving, she was on her reigns trying to go into the shop and I was turned away speaking to my friends and she just fell backwards.

sickening when you hear it isn't it. Didn't help that a very kindly couple were hugely concerned about her. it was the back of her skull tho and she ate her tea fine and stopped telling me it hurt after about an hour . I felt like a completely crap mummy.

am sure the excema cream the doc has given will be very mild and give your dd's eyes time to clear up and that will help her feel better.

d'you think it's being exhausted from starting school etc? viscious circle on the energy front if she's not managing to eat much eh?

hope she's on the mend soon.

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 16:50

foxie, pure ibuprofen irritates my tum i've found.

i think i probably have a bit of cold tbh, neck and shoulders are achey, i am frozen and a sneezing etc.

here comes the winter eh!

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 16:53

yes unbranded why pay more

foxie guess GP tell you to look out for vomiting dizziness and sleepiness? bit hard to atm I guess. also tiredness can be related to blood sugar?
am deeply paranoid when it comes to LO

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 16:53

Pads I think its partly starting school and partly her lil' body trying to fight ll the bug which are going round

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 16:58

sending get well vibes to Little Foxie.

maybe she should have a couple of days off school. nightmare tho when you're working and have to organise cover etc....

i alwasy buy tesco paracetemol, it's only 16p!

mellow2 · 08/10/2007 17:36

foxie,
hope dd feels better soon!

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 18:07

oh no, the person i was going to go with to the black tie do might not go now.

can't go on my own as at this point the only other person i know going is one of the organisers so will be really busy all evening.

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 19:36

Paddle !!

Mellow - you coming Saturday - how are you?

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 19:47

I buy everything unbranded as much as poss sometimes its not on display (I suspect the big stores have a deal with the manufacturers not to plug their own label in return for cheaper prices). Even Zantac has an own label, immodium, most things just ask - it's usually about a third of the price.

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 19:48

paddle thought it was a company do - can;t beleive there aren't more people that you know going? Try emotional blackmail on the person who was going?

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 19:57

Kew - just found the phone message you left on the ansa machine!! It doesn't get checked very often as everyone uses the mobile now

Paddle can you give Callieween some advice on slings for older babies (7 mnths and growing)?www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2330/401684?rnd=1191869621726

foxensteinscreature · 08/10/2007 19:59

Oh feck I feel as though I have pmt - haven't had to deal with this for 16 months

Paddlechick666 · 08/10/2007 20:39

foxie, i've posted my meagre experience and advice.

i still feel like crap. hungry but don't want to eat. shivery and so on....

hate it when i am like this as i have no one local that i could call on if i get sick. god forbid i get sick and dd does at the same time.....
