For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 08/10/2007 09:58

Morning all.

It was lovely to see you, ele, MrsR, CoV, sfx (&mr sfx), foxie and steppie on Sat. Sorry if I appeared to be unsociable. WHEN DO KIDS START TO PLAY ON THEIR OWN (so that mummies can chat with friends)??? I really can't wait for this Sat. (Do you guys still want to try a bit of sushi?)

QC, I do have a paypal account but can I give you cash this weekend? It's just I am still in this mess of the fake bag purchase with paypal so I don't really want to use it till everything is clear. I was going to pay you on Sat. Or I can drop an envelope at your door this week.

sfx, hope you get better soon.

SushiMummy · 08/10/2007 10:04

Paddle, did I miss you at C&C on Sat? Sorry if I did.

QC, I've got loads of toys to rid (house too small). Do you want to come over to take some for your DS? It's free!

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 10:12

Sat will be fine Sushi - don't worry. Just bought DS a pile of toys from car boot sale (though he is only getting them one at a time) so will you be offended if I just pick the odd one? There are some charity shops in Sheen who will take good condition toys or there is a charity ion Kew called Reach who provide essential items for kids with terminal or life limiting illnesses. They're based at St lukes House I think - I wonder if they might like them?

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 10:13

got that wrong, it's React

reactcharity.smartchange.org/mw_cwl.phtml

SushiMummy · 08/10/2007 10:21

Thanks for the info, QC. Gave a bag full of toys to the nursery DS goes but we still have too many. St Luke's is just down the road from us so very handy! No, I won't be offended at all. Have a trampoline and other bulky stuff as well as small toys. It's your choice, really. Come whenever suits you and the rest goes to React.

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 10:30

just a thought promted by that - would anyone be interested in adopting that charity as the unofficial mumsnet west london charity?

Not sure if we could add anything as I suspect they really want people to raise money. But would anyone consider it?

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 10:32

OK - perhaps I could arrange to pop over at the weekend sometime.

Ds will actually play with cars on his own (he's mad about cars) but if there are people here, he'd much rather play to an audience!

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 10:37

what is The HOFF doing on their main page? please KC? they do need better supporters
I am all for us supporting worthy charities

hello all

sushi that's not being unsociable that is called being in charge of a toddler

can't wait to go for a walk but stuck here waiting for tesco man

ComeOVeneer · 08/10/2007 11:07

Morning all. We have been struck down with colds here too. DS had a stomach bug too yesterday and seemed to be in a lot of pain last night, so I am rather bleary eyed this morning. I have managed to get everyone to school/station etc, do the food shopping and make dd a scarecrow costume for her harvest assembly on Friday.

MrsRecycle · 08/10/2007 12:15

KC - I love that saying "the devil is in the detail" - just wish they would practice it at work - they seem to think that it's best to get all the data they "might" need rather than just the stuff they're after.

Foxie - have sent you an instruction booklet for the walker (just found it). will definitely pop round (probably week after next if that's ok).

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 12:25

Oh no doesn't sound good, hope your DS gets better soon COV.

We had our first Tumble tots experience this morning. Have mixed feelings about it, DS enjoyed it there but he was really tired afterwards and it was only 10.15am he's struggling to nap now as he's become overtired. Didn't like the woman running it, she must've been on drugs, I found her to be quite OTT. Then at the end they shoved a contract into my arms detailing cost and just assumed I would come again without asking if we even liked it .
DS did like it and it's a good indoor play area in the winter place but it is expensive for what it is, I'll have to think about it....

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 12:35

Sj, which tumbletots did you try? Am wondering if its the same woman that runs the one ds goes to. She is a bit mad and takes a bit of getting used to but ds absolutely loves her now and always goes up to her for the songs etc.

I also found that as we went more often ds got used to it so wouldn't be as tired afterwards, though he does still sleep well on Thursdays!

Sorry, just realised I'm sounding a bit evangelical about it

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 12:44

Hi Ros

Went to the one in Twickers. DS didn't like the woman but loved climbing and jumping on all the eqpt. He didn't sit for the songs today as preferred to carry on playing. It must be the same woman, i can't imagine there'd be 2 like her

I'm sure as you say the more he goes, he (I) would get used to her. I think also Monday is not the best day for him as he tends to be tired/'hungover' after the weekend's excitement. Which day do you go & whereabouts?

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 12:46

I go to Chiswick on Thursday mornings. THere is quite a lot I like about TT but I won't go on about it now , I've just looked it up and it is the same woman, so yes it might take ds a few weeks to get used to her!

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 12:51

I have been dragging my feet about this TT stuff mainly because I find those people who run it a bit hard to take I had just got used to the Boggie tots woman when Mothercare stopped her classes.

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 12:54

Oh well I've just made my mind up I'm not taking him again to that class, he's been in his cot since 12 and cannot sleep and is now screaming his head off. Not good

mellow2 · 08/10/2007 13:30

MrsR,

That's better than the client on my project who looks for the data that they didn't specify while development is on-going.

OP posts:
mellow2 · 08/10/2007 13:30

sfx,
so where is the boogie tots woman holding her class?

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 13:34

My mum takes DS to TT in Kew (different woman I think) on a Wednesday and she likes it and he LOVES it! But he only has one nap at 1 pm so perhaps doesn't get as tired. It is expensive though, isn't it.

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 13:36

Kew, I think it is the same woman as she seems to cover the Richmond area inc Twickenham, Chiswick & Kew

Hi Mellow, nice to see you!

ComeOVeneer · 08/10/2007 13:37

Can everyone check out the meet-up thread for next Saturday and confirm if they are coming and if they are veggie o I can sort out the food for shopping later in the week?

Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 13:38

yes Ros I checked you're right. Funny, my mum normally doesn't like OTT people but doesn't seem to have a problem with her.

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 13:52

hi mellow - not sure where now still need to give her a call.
and your project people sound a bit like dh's they ask him to sort something out them say 'oh but you did not do this' something entirely different
I occasionally get swearing texts that I know are not directed at me

SJ99 · 08/10/2007 14:12

At last he's finally asleep, poor thing is shattered but he really fights sleep sometimes.
I think I'll have to take him to TT later in the week Mon class didn't really out. He does seem to suffer from that Monday morning feeling. Weekends we're flexible with his routine depending on what we're doing, plus the added attraction of having daddy around means he is tired at start of the week. I guess he's also craving a bit of normality as the past few months/weeks have been crazy.

Hello Mellow, how are you? I bought some of that tea last week you recommended, delicious!

MrsRecycle · 08/10/2007 14:32

mellow - so frustrating isn't it? You know what, I say - "sorry my crystal ball isn't working today".
