For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 08:13

morning quokka! cot size pillows? i've only got normal size which fits quite nicely as dd's got a cot bed. am sure she's big enough for it not to be a problem but still a bit apprehensive....

i came up with a great name for your empire yesterday but i've forgotten it now!

sfx, dd is also doing hamster food storing. quite disgusting!!

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:14

Actually I was going to get the bus but the thought of my own room and toilet was more appealing, and the train is more environmentally friendly . Testing it out to see if we can take the kids on it rather than driving for there for hols.

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 08:15

train sounds fabulous. can you rent the room by the week

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:16

well keep thinking!

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:17

of names that is. I like Baby bliss but not very original!

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 08:20

it was something to do with hands like:

Handsfull of Love

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:23

want to make sure it doesn't put dads/helpers (maids) off coming so anything without mummy might help?

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:28

I do like sfx's suggestion "soothing hands for tiny tums'

rosmerta · 30/09/2007 09:16

Morning all, dh has left to go to France today and he managed to leave at 6.30am without waking up ds which is a bonus! We made it to 7.30 today which is the latest its been for a while.

Quokka, I'm still thinking but I'm rubbish at coming up with names!

Paddle - would you still like to meet up today? I need to go to Kew retail this morning but was thinking of going to Kew Gardens or Syon Park this afternoon

sfxmum · 30/09/2007 09:19

morning all

quokka hi your if you want use it no copyright good luck with the train sounds very old world.

dh went in the trans Siberian one to China yonks ago with a bunch of dangerous sounding drunk Russian soldiers while reading James Joyce. he got some medals and an army jacket out of one of them I think in a game.

foxie - best of luck for tomorrow I am sure it will all go well, somehow

paddle - dd has had a pillow for ages which she takes with her when we sleep away it is all very comforting and helpful when she has a cold.

kew - hope gherkin slept better tonight.

we are off to the steam thing at Kew in a little while

sfxmum · 30/09/2007 09:20

hi mellow and Ros

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 10:21

hi ros, am off to tesco shortly but am thinking kew this arvo.

it's such a lovely day.

am looking on ebay and can get a cot duvet, pillow with cover/case for about £10.

as dd is in an unconverted cotbed these items should do when i convert it as well.

not sure about the quality for a tenner tho, looks like just duvet/pillow sets from ikea are 20 quid without covers.....

quokka, good to see ya earlier! man those boys have grown!!!! once again your dh has traumatised me LOL

quokka · 30/09/2007 10:33

yeah he is very good at that!

Thanks sfx will let you know what I decide, am in big rush so if anyone else has any big ideas????

quokka · 30/09/2007 10:34

I'm in no big rush - I meant!

foxcub · 30/09/2007 11:17

Hi Quokka - I like the name sfx suggested too. Your travels sound very exciting to me!!

sfx thanks - I'm working from home tomorrow - so big day is Tuesday (in office )

Paddle - thanks for the tips. One of my items is getting very exciting and still has over 9 hrs to go!!

I've got my drinking book club later today but feeling a bit coldy still. Mind you some nurofen laced with wine and some conversation might be just the trick

Kew - wanna leave the pirate stuff with CM tomorrow then? DS2 has a settling in with her tomorrow so I'll be down there.

quokka · 30/09/2007 11:35

what about "soothing hand for tiny tots". Since the whole body gets a massage not just the tum?

Kew could ds be waking because of digesting probs? Night time is usually when they're tums are the busiest. Mine have both gone through stages of this but I find a tummy rub helps before bed and milk? Do you know how to do it?

foxcub · 30/09/2007 11:50

Quokka that's a nice name

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 12:12

dd has not been quiet for more than a minute all day.

it's been a litany of "mummy, mummy, mummy, mummy" interspersed with general low-grade moaning or humming.

it doesn't matter if i respond or not it's just endless.

driving me utterly nuts.

houseguest has gone out for an assignation so please god she naps and i get some peace!

rosmerta · 30/09/2007 12:35

Ds has just gone for his nap so at least I can grab some lunch now!

Paddle, do you want to text me when you're heading over there? Chances are I won't be there before 3pm

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 12:53

okay ros, we'll prob be there about 2:30ish I expect.

sfxmum · 30/09/2007 16:38

I really liked the Kew steam museum, was absolutely fascinated! dd liked it too we got a little ride on the little steam engine.

quite like the amateur aspect of that operation.
must plan a holiday involving one of the surviving railways I think like the Bluebell or similar

rosmerta · 30/09/2007 19:06

sfx, my dad can't wait until ds is old enough to take him to the steam museum!

Paddle, nice to see you this arvo no matter how brief & interrupted it was!

Ds has been a bit of a nightmare this last hour, don't know if its just tiredness or because dh is away or both! I was reading him his story while he had his milk and he just kept hitting me & throwing his milk away. I've taken him up and put him down without him finishing his bottle

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 19:52

well, the litany continued thru dinner, bath and then to bed.

5 mins after dd goes peacefully to sleep, houseguest returns.

just when i'd decided he would stay out all evening and i could watch crap tv and eat something out of the freezer.

i am seriously going to ask him to go to the movies or something tomorrow evening. when i am capable of speaking in a civil manner that is.

ros, yes great to see you however briefly!

QC, missed you by about 5 mins but we were on our way anyways.

C&C was like Lord of the Flies today, every weekend I vow I will avoid it but always end up there!!!

Foxie, good luck tomorrow. Hope all goes well, am sure it will.

foxcub · 30/09/2007 20:34

Paddle - that's so true about C&C - specially when bigger kids invade it. When I met you there the other day there were some teenaged girls taking over one of the pods

I'd love to go to the steam museum too one day - when I was a kid I always wanted to be a train driver

Well I am no longer an e-bay virgin - have bought 5 fabby things for a snip . Have a further 11 bods in

am buying cheapie clothes for work

Bookclub was great - brilliant food and convo but traffic around Kings X a complete nightmare on the way home....

foxcub · 30/09/2007 20:39

bids not bods
