For when the August thread runs out.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 29/09/2007 09:37

morning all

it appears various members of my family will show up at different times of the day. I am sure dd will like this.
but I wish I could tell them show up at this time leave at this time and they stuck to it.
family!

sunday we are going to the Kew steam museum thing, dh's plan.

dd woke up at nigh will leave her with dh and go out jogging for a bit

sfxmum · 29/09/2007 09:38

dd woke up at 9 I meant, really good 9 to 9 sleep I feel refreshed

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2007 14:05

okay, i am at screaming pitch now.

dd slept for 5 mins in the car on the way home from kew and then refused to nap.

i am so tired and i really just wanted to nap myself when she did.

heading out again now as i am utterly fed up with not having the house to myself and am so close to exploding i have to leave until i calm down.

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 15:27

just to make you feel worse - DS went down to sleep at 1and is still asleep. Just going to wake him up - I dozed for 40 mins too. How much do you hate me?

Sorry Ros, I'm out with my mum tomorrow.

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2007 16:14

yeah thanks QC! that really helps!

i should've left kew earlier and things prob would've gone the same for me.....

SFX, Asda have Peppa Pig wellies for £6! dd is in clover LOL!

sfxmum · 29/09/2007 16:44

paddle - think dd shall not be told about new Peppa Pig wellies she can admire your dd's

so did you scream? it is not like your neighbours can complain

foxcub · 29/09/2007 17:22

Hello Grrlllss

I'm still all coldy but have dosed myself up with drugs

Talking of which, how old do they have to be to have medised? DS2 has a cold and wakes me once and hour at night

Kew/Paddle - yes please do give me the numbers for Polish cleaning agencies - I'd be really grateful. !!!

I'd recommend Woolworths for kids wellies, dressing gowns, dressing up outfits etc. Excellent value shop! One in Sheen and one in Twickenham.

FX your DD is so cute!

Paddle - sorry your neighbours from hell woke you up again.

We have a spare room from the end of this week - double room with its own bathroom, if your chappie fancies living in Kew??

Kew how did DS sleep last night? I bet he must've been tired

CoV get off the phone!

Macca Pacca, wacca placca

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2007 17:44

foxie, that could be an interim solution if you're serious?

he should hear about the room he's keen on tomorrow but we have had a discussion today about his finding some sort of weekly room (hostel) thing until he finds something more permanent.

i'm really not keen on that as it's so impersonal but we both agree the current situ has gone on too long.

ComeOVeneer · 29/09/2007 18:48

HI all. Today hasn't been exactly a barrel of laughs, both ds and dd are ill with a coldy/flu type bug and as miserable and to top it off dh has done his back in so is as much use as a chocolate teapot. I have cleaned house from topp to bottom, done the food shopping, made supper and the dessert for tomorrow. Will be up early to make the starter and roast, as we have my parents over for lunch. Then have to clear all the cr*p out of my car as it is due for it's MOT on Monday. I have a seriously clean and tidy house yet the car looks like a place things go to die

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 20:21

Foxie - he was tired but still woke at 4.30am!

Paddle found a Matalan in Osterley - straight past TEsco Mecca up Windmill lane then left (armstring lane?) after mini roundabout. They have dressing gowns down to about 18 months for £4. It was manic on a Sat but queue moved pretty fast.

Foxie - Paddle chap seems quite nice (at first glance anyway) so he should easy to live with in the short term (and the fact that he would have his own room would help!)

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 20:22

Cov - your car won;t actually fail its MOT because its full of russbish... I should know

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2007 20:49

i dearly hope to god dd reverts to her luxurious 7am waking tomorrow. please dear god listen to my prayer!!!

Paddle Chap is a sweetheart, he really is and i love him dearly but I need my space and so does he. We neither of us expected it to take this long to for him to find a place.

Caveat, he does smoke but is giving up and obviously doesn't smoke in the house at all. He's great with dd and very very sociable.

qc, ta for matalan tip......

sfxmum · 29/09/2007 20:55

hi everyone

my family have been around today so dd was entertained by a variety of cousins and aunties from 11 am to 7.30pm.

towards then end she was so tired she took one of them to the bathroom to start running her a bath then said 'good bye everyone go away now'

one of my evil sisters showed up with a huge box of Krispy Kremes too - how I suffer!

i hope assorted minis behave themselves, sleep well and wake up at decent times.

and COV sorry about your day hope it is better tomorrow

foxcub · 29/09/2007 22:39

Paddle - yes we are serious about the room being free. Our current guy moves out probably at the end of this week (or next week at latest)

Give him my moby No if he's interested. The room is messy atm (studenty type living there but he's welcome to ring/come and have a look/discuss terms etc

I said "discuss terms" in an attempt to sound grown up

Have been on e-bay all evening - how very addictive it is!!

Any tips? Is it best to bid as high as you are prepared to pay for the item and then just go away? I can't be arsed keep checking on whether I've been outbid but there are a couple (OK a "few") things I would really find useful on there.

Come on pads - you are the e-bay expert around here !!

foxcub · 29/09/2007 22:40

"free" = empty, not free

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 22:44

I always bid as much as I am prepared to pay then end up making one sneaky bid more if I'm outbid but grit my teeth and only make the one illicit bid. The trick is making the right bid in the first place. Be realistic about how much you want it - will you kick yourself if you don;t get it, in which case bid more than its really worth. If you will think "how silly to have paid £50 for an M&S pair of knickers" then reflect that in your bid. Don;t foregt to add the postage on - some "bargains" have ridiculously high postage. Worth searching for local stuff if you want anything heavy.

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 22:46

I've got some god stuff on ebay, sold some stuff too and godd some distinctly average stuff. On the whole good though.

Biggest bargain (which none of you will appreciate) was my bridge table which I got for £120 and is probably worth £300-400 - no-one else bid! Got an email after the sale from someone saying they had meant to bid but forgot and would I sell it to them for an immediate profit

foxcub · 29/09/2007 22:51

Kew - do you need a Matalan account to shop there?

foxcub · 29/09/2007 22:56

Kew - am looking for some decent work clothes 2nd hand. I noticed I was outbid on one item within the last minute . I had kept an eye on it but obviously someone else really wanted it. I wasn't at all bovvered about that particular item but there are 2 skirts and a pair of work trews I really would like - I have bid £20 for each 'cos that's what I think there are worth in reasonable condition (about £60 new). I reckon £60 for good condition clothes worth £180 is Ok

I shall just walk away

foxcub · 29/09/2007 23:01

Kew I appreciate your bridge table bargain. I bid for a dining table once (didn't get it though) so well done!

Kewcumber · 29/09/2007 23:07

yes you need a matalan card but you can just fill in fomr when you get there. I never registered mine (accidentally forgot to send off details) and it didn;t seem to matter. You can pay cash or creidt card you don;t need to put on account.

foxcub · 29/09/2007 23:26

oooh must check out that Matalan then!

I went to Matalan once before, but it was the Greenwich one and it was about 6 years ago - vaguely remember that DS1 was a baby

mellow2 · 29/09/2007 23:36

Foxie,
Will let you know if I get shampoo samples.

Quokka,
Nice to hear from you.
Taking the train is adventurous indeed. I'm not a big fan myself. You should try taking the express bus service next time or drive if you don't fancy flying.

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2007 07:18

morning all, well we made it 6:30am this morning.

can i get views on pillows in cots for a 2 year old? dd is adamant she wants a pillow. i let her have it last night then went in and took it away when she was asleep.

of course she woke up yelling for her pillow back this morning!

foxie, your room does sound like a good solution until friend finds a house-share. finger's x'd he'll get this one he's keen on today but will keep you posted.

re: ebay, i try to sit on my hands till the last 30 mins of the auction. then i'll watch it like a hawk. in the last few mins i'll start to bid and if it goes to a bidding war i'll bid just over the price until the last minute when i'll get a bit more agressive.

if you bid max price earlier you risk pushing the price of the item up and up - good for the seller but not the buyer!

it's all very exciting!

tip for sellers, always list your item so that the auction finishes around 8pm in the evening, on a sunday if poss, as that's when people are online the most!

quokka · 30/09/2007 08:10

pc both of mine had pillows from 1yr! They are the cot size not the normal size. They always get taken with us when we go away.

Mellow I'm in the super deluxe first class own room, shower, toilet, tv, aircon, etc on the train so I'm hoping it will be ok? Only cost £20 !
