As I'm guessing Des is probably back from holiday now, anyone want to start arranging a new meet up (for old and new).

Ashton Court was suggested.

Do I have any offers

Hiya First

I'm dreaming of a lovely leisurely lunch with fab food and indulgent pud...but that isn't really compatible with a meet up with the DC's in tow is it! lol! As much as we love them all

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 23:28

Yep! Let's bin the kids!

DixiePixie · 13/08/2007 23:50

Not sure whether I'd be able to do it. I'm still BF DD in the evening before she goes to bed (She's only ever had milk from the breast and isn't used to it from a bottle or cup yet). She is over one now and I had been meaning to wean her onto cow's milk from her first birthday - I just keep holding off though - the thought of stopping BF keeps making me feel

Maybe I should try and treat this as an incentive. I think the weaning process is going to be harder for me than for DD!

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 23:59

Yes, it will be tough, dixie. But not for long, and then it'll all be forgotten.

Can you express the milk? I know it's not the same, but for one night .. if you can manage it emotionally?

DixiePixie · 14/08/2007 00:04

No, never expressed - all to do with my well documented neuroses... . I have been meaning to try and start moving to cow's milk in the evening, maybe just BF in the morning - I've got to get a grip and try it sometime haven't I!

Better try and bit the bullet in the next few days I guess - I'll have to see how DD copes with the change in guaging whether I could consider going out and leaving DH with the evening feed

(And of course I already knew that you're all lovely! Goes without saying of course )

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 14/08/2007 14:45

Dixie - please don't feel any pressure at all and imo, if you want to carry on b/feeding past 1 year - then why not?? Its all down to personal choice and what you feel happier with. My DH was b/fed along with solids and cows milk until about 3 and the average age that b/feeding stops in the Middle East is year and half to two years...

Am happy to do another day meet up until Dixie feels comfortable to come out in the evening, or we could schedule an evening meet up where Dixie could come out after b/feeding DD....just some ideas - what do you all think?

(Desi - being very careful to avoid use of the word playdate here....roffle )

Desiderata · 14/08/2007 19:20

Yes, I'll go along with anything ... except calling it a playdate

And Crook's not wrong, Dixie. You can carry on for as long as you like. I also know how difficult it can be to face an evening out when it's been soooooooo long

I'm more than happy with a day time meet-up.

ThomasTankEngine · 14/08/2007 21:44

Daytime good for us too, due to BFing.
How about Ashton Court?

Desiderata · 14/08/2007 21:54

Ashton Court is always great for me (as you know) because I can walk there in ten minutes.

You can breast-feed in the open-air, ladies

Let's wait for Armadillo to get back of hols before we set a date ... and there are others, I know, like Sixer, and PodMog .. (whatever happened to Pod?)

DixiePixie · 14/08/2007 22:45

Hiya

Thanks for being so lovely and understanding you gorgeous people - Glad I'm not the only one who prefers not to do evenings due to BFing - I hadn't wanted to be a party pooper!

So, Ashton Court then...

squidgymum · 19/08/2007 23:45

Hi, I'm new to the board and live in Bristol. Would love to join a meet, especially in school hols. I have older kids though, 9 and 7. Has this moved on to a new thread or did it die a death?

DixiePixie · 20/08/2007 11:42

Welcome Squidgymum .

I think this thread's just gone a little quiet cos we were waiting for a couple of people to return from hols before setting a date.

So is everyone back now?

squidgymum · 20/08/2007 14:40

Thanks Dixie, will keep an eye on the thread then.

TheArmadillo · 21/08/2007 18:34

Bonjour ladies - I am back from a wonderful holiday.

I have almost got a suntan - woohoo! Lots more freckles as well.

There were 9 of us altogether and ds has been spoilt rotten (I think even he is getting sick of chocolate biscuits- though I maybe wrong) and he is going to be a little shite for the next few days I reckons.

Am up for another meetup at some point.

Hi Armadillo

Can I join in again? Sorry I appear to have missed the last Bristol meet-up, have started back at work 2 days a week (about all my poor post-natal brain can cope with).

Am up for day meet up or evening. Would love to come out later sans bebe, but also bf at bedtime so don't usually leave the house until after 7pm (DixiePixie - my DS is about the same age as your DD I think, I feel the same way about that bedtime feed, such a quiet comforting time for both of us).

TheArmadillo · 21/08/2007 18:54

hello - how's your job going?

OP posts:
MaeWest · 21/08/2007 18:59

I'm enjoying it thanks. Also I have swish new(ish) laptop provided by my employers. The fact that my old one was dying on its arse was also a contributing factor to my decreased MNing recently . One thing that does surprise me is that I can switch from bum-wiping MaeWest to jargon-speaking MaeWest so effectively.

TheArmadillo · 21/08/2007 18:59

as long as you don't get the two mixed up

I've got to look for a job seriously now, I don't wanna.

TheArmadillo · 23/08/2007 21:18

bump to see if anyone is around.

Anyone up for planning antoher meetup?

OP posts:
DixiePixie · 24/08/2007 15:49

Well, I'm always up for a meetup. I think the suggestion for the next one was Ashton Court. Does anyone know if the decent weather is supposed to ber holding up?

mammaduck · 24/08/2007 16:06

My DH who is a geographer and weather nerd says the fine weather is going to stay for 10 days...

PS I'm in Bristol and would be keen to meet in Ashton Court before August ends...
