As I'm guessing Des is probably back from holiday now, anyone want to start arranging a new meet up (for old and new).

Ashton Court was suggested.

Do I have any offers

Thanks for that mammaduck - and it'd be lovely to meet you. Hurrah for fine weather!

How's everyone fixed next week - I've just looked at my - erm - "social calendar", and surprisingly it is pretty empty next week , so I'm fairly flexible about days to meet up (I just need to work out what buses to get there and back now). Anyone have prefered dates?

TheArmadillo · 24/08/2007 23:15

Can't do monday or tuesday next week, but should be fine for any other day.

Ashton court would be fine by me.

Desiderata · 25/08/2007 13:57

Well, I'm obviously more than happy with Ashton Court

Any day next week would be fine, but Thursday or Friday would be easier. The only day I'd have a problem with is Wednesday.

mammaduck · 26/08/2007 14:28

I can't do Thursday or Friday as am back to work.

TheArmadillo · 27/08/2007 18:42

would people want to meet on a weekend?

DixiePixie · 28/08/2007 14:27

Not my favourite option, but could be possible. What do other people think?

Hi there

Apologies abit of a hijack - currently in London but DH has just got a job in Bristol. You all seem very friendly! Would you recommend Bristol for a SAHM? Or Bath?

TheArmadillo · 29/08/2007 14:11

How old are your kids?

Bristol being a big city has plenty of activities for kids/families/adults. There are also many places int he surrounding areas. We have museums, soft plays, loads of groups, activity centres, etc etc etc.

There are good areas of open space as well - the downs, ashton court, leigh (sp?) woods to name a few.

Parks in Bristol are improving (certainly in my area) adn teh council seem to be plunging quite a bit of money in to them (Hengrove play park for example).

The public transport system we have (basically firstbus) are shite and very expensive. Though many SAHMs do cope fine without a car. Depending on what area you live in there are usually plenty of activities within walking distance.

What areas were you thinking of moving too?

oh and festivals - we tend to be good at them over the summer.

Ashton court has several (balloon fiesta, music festival).

There's a few on the waterfront - harbour festival, big organic fair amongst others.

The downs have a couple of big events -there is usually a children's fair up there.

Culturally we have the watershed cinema (for non-mainstream films), we have a artist community, big museum and art gallery (as well as plenty of smaller galleries and museums). WE have the hippodrome, colston hall, old vic (though not for much longer by the sounds of it), 2 universities (that often hold public lectures). Where I live has 1-2 art trails a yr (not the only place in the city to do so) that displays not only local artists work, but also is an open door event for people to open their houses to show off what ever they want.

Alllllrite. My first time back mning for ohhh i think 5/6 weeks. very strange, same old, same old, looks like something has gone off today can only guess something to do with MM. So i've not missed much there then. We've have been on hols for 2 weeks to a so called working farm 'down Devon'. (20 chickens 15 ducks and 1 sheep). Still the boys enjoyed the break. So am i sniffing a meetup mums only? Count me in. Hope you've all had a good summer and for those of you with schoolies, hope like me you are enjoying the routine again.

TheArmadillo · 11/09/2007 22:51

Do you ever go in the Shakespeare, Armadillo?

TheArmadillo · 11/09/2007 23:29

no, heard it's good though.

Used to go to NEwfoundout. Pretty basic, but nice atmosphere.

Course they done the Oxford up now and it has new owners - not bad in there now.

SPoilt for pubs round here.

We have at least 6 in under a 5 minute walk.

Sixer · 11/09/2007 23:31

lucky you, close to town. I wanted to live there 20 years ago for all the wrong reasons of course. Crikey i'm scared out there to night. i'm preferring to Lurk, alot, this evening. Ease back in gently and try to get to the bottom of it all. Although i am pretty tired and the thought now of bed is, um, quite nice.

TheArmadillo · 11/09/2007 23:32

lol I'll be off in minute.

WE moved here pre-ds. It was fantastic.

Now of course we want to move out of town - Staple Hill area. I want a garden

OP posts:
Sixer · 11/09/2007 23:36
