Hi,

Got this started 'cos I think the other thread is going to run out before the end of tomorrow.

OP posts:
suejonez · 15/03/2007 22:55

and you wanted to get in ahead of all the other west london crowd to avoid the 5 threads scenario of last month

mellow2 · 15/03/2007 22:57

Yup.

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 16/03/2007 11:13

nice to see things keep running without me

How is everybody?

Foxie, you ok besides bf problems?

Loving Marlow and trying to sort out date for our housewarming party.

How's everybody for 7 March? Date not fixed in stone yet

nopudstilleaster · 16/03/2007 11:15

If its the 7 March MrsB then we've missed it

MrsBigD · 16/03/2007 11:21

DOH must try and engage brain before typing!

Of course I meant 7 April

sfxmum · 16/03/2007 14:52

for a minute there it felt like time runs more slowly in the countryglad you are enjoying things mrsD, nice to see you

suejonez · 16/03/2007 16:38

Ele - the paediatrician visit is fairly routine becasue of the prematurity and extremely low birth weight. They are going to check his development and check his anaemia to see if he needs iron. Also he is likely to need glasses early, many small premmies do.

Eleusis · 16/03/2007 16:49

Hi MrsBigD... do you know what they have been doing? They have been arranging all the day time meets on the general chat thread. Oh how I miss you what I have to sort through all of this from work.... The nerve!

Seriously, housewarming sounds great, but do you realise that's Easter weekend? (I know I know... you are such a loyal church goer but you must have missed that bit)

Sue, I had glasses when I was three. They were hideous! I hope D has a better selection.

suejonez · 16/03/2007 19:44

bloddy hell keep me away from the Angelina adopts anotehr thread. It started off as a fairly sensible discussion of the issues and has descended into "poor Jennifer Anniston. I still think of her". Like she is their bloody best friend! Tis like something out of Jackie Magazine!

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2007 19:50

[trying to hold sue back] down woman, you know you want to rise to the bait! How are you Sue? Sorry to hear about ds but at least he is going to have a very thorough medical check here. My friends ds who was 7 weeks prem is currently having brain scans whilst he is in hospital but she doesn't think it's anything to worry about.

Foxie, if you're around, I've emailed you. When your dd is at school you may seriously want to consider putting them both in afterschool club. I do mine and it's so lovely to be able to have the whole afternoon to myself (beit shopping/sleeping/beautician) and not worry about having to rush back and pick them up. They love it too (as your ds1 does ).

suejonez · 16/03/2007 20:07

I'm fine MrsR - still seething aabout some of the bloody ignorant comments on that thread. Can;t beleive that I've come as far as defending Angelina Jolie who I often think is probably as mad as a box of frogs . Commetns like "she's just doing it for herself and picked the easiest way" (ie adoption rather than pregnancy). Well what bloody reason did you get pregnant? What selfless thoughts went through your mind - I think I will have a child in case they may grow up to save mankind from suffering? Bollcks, bollocks, bollocky bollocks

suejonez · 16/03/2007 20:09

am going off to get myself some dinner and calm down.

MrsRecycle · 16/03/2007 20:16

Rant away - mumsnet does that to you sometimes doesn't it! Have a glass of wine with it (or a bottle!)

mellow2 · 16/03/2007 21:47

Sadly, West Mid midwives couldn't help me either. More than one midwife told me that dd had a decent latch and that I had a low milk supply problem.

Foxie,
The number is 01865 221695 and Sally Inch is the person running it now with Chloe Fisher. They produce bfing books and videos together. They are open Mondays and Thursdays and do ring before going to ensure they are open that day.

MrsR is right. One learns a lot by watching what other people do. I learnt a lot the day I went to their bfing clinic. I'm also happy to pop round to show you what I do with dd.

Hang in there Foxie. You'll overcome the problem soon enough.

shut up Sue.

clearly angelina just wants to accesorize her brood without piles or stretch marks or any of that undignified stretching of your bits!

and i'm sure jennifer aniston would be a willing surrogate if only angelina and brad would ask her.

i've tried watching comic relief but i keep crying when they show the films from africa.

sfxmum · 16/03/2007 21:58

west mid were awful with my bf issues as i never tire of telling awful awful clearly did not now what they were talking about

  • 'your boobs are too big to bf'

sue - those threads are never about debating issues but really about playing out playground nastiness and envy, but you know that

mellow2 · 16/03/2007 22:29

sfx,
Strangely enough, they said my low milk supply could be down to small boobs . You can't win.

OP posts:
suejonez · 16/03/2007 22:33

sfx but I was sucked in by a semblance of discussing the issues some of which I agreed with - eg why would you change the name of a child as old as three? They suddenly it turned into "she's a bitch and I don;t like her and she's too thin" or worse in my eyes "she's been given special treatment" from people who know so little about adoption that they should be embarrassed to maek such statements. I know a LOT about adoption form a LOT of different countries I did a LOT of research over a LONG time and its not that obvious to me whether she had special treatment or not.

And I find the accusation that she only picks pretty ones how many ugly three year olds do you know?! I think kids are ususally very cute until they are 7'ish when their babyishness disappears.

Shut up Jonez - go to bed.

sfxmum · 16/03/2007 22:50

sue -and you only got yours for his looks anyway and for being right selfishlike the rest of us have kids for altruistic reasons

never quite get why anyone would begrudge giving a child a chance of a better life

mellow - what do you think is the optimum boob size?must consult those manuals

night night

Eleusis · 16/03/2007 22:58

Sue, I think people love to hate beautiful celebrities. Makes them feel better about not being so beautiful if they can at least convince them selves that said celeb is in fact a bitch. So, I think this is more about the celeb angle than it is about people who adopt.

MrsBigD · 17/03/2007 07:40

good point Eleusis ... dh suggested that date but as it's Easter not many people would be able to make it?

Foxie, hang in there!

MrsRecycle · 17/03/2007 07:49

Foxie - I'm up early this morning and my house is all clean and tidy ready for the mass immigration of the Recycle family so I have a spare few hours before I take dd1 to the theatre. Give me a call and I'll come over. I really think I can help.

Paddlechick666 · 17/03/2007 08:28

morning all

well, we finally had a night of no coughing! dd slept till 7 and stayed in her cot till nearly 8!

foxie, i've found those gel pads so i'll try to drop them off later.

nopudstilleaster · 17/03/2007 08:52

Don't know what we're up to today yet, dh wants to go to the pub to watch the rugby but I might insist we go out to kew or something, I'm mean, aren't I

Paddlechick666 · 17/03/2007 08:58

Wales is a late kick off so i'll be watching that whilst dd has her tea.
