Mellow,
at "Dh says it's dd's job when she's older to plan mother's day celebration."

No, it is DH's job to tech DD to plan mother's Day celebrations by doing it for her until she is old enough to take the lead.

We went to Kew bridge steam museum (my choice). Dh said it was for nerds and that it was too technical for the layman. He like the Victorian household relics that hasd at the fornt (the 1910 toaster, the vitorian toilet, etc.). I told him that was the girly part.

And we are going out for dinner in Twicker in a few hours.

However, it has taken some five years of training to get here. So, hang in there mellow. (and of course remeber not to do anything on Father's Day that wasn't his job on Mother's Day). Oh, I am such a spiteful old bag. Moaybe you shouldn't listen to me on second thought.

sfxmum · 18/03/2007 16:32

hi there
mellowhonestly give yourself chocolate on father's day!

got lovely present which they bought last weekend and explains why dd has been sniffing everything this week and saying 'oh smells nice'
then we went out for lunch with the intention of having a stroll round Kew afterwards, until the rain started, so we went shopping instead
dh now sorting out dinner.

foxie hope nips are getting better, still wince at the thought of those first days

hope is everyone ok

foxcub · 18/03/2007 19:31

sfx - right nip is fine now but still getting a ridge after feeding on left (bizarre as its the right I've always had probs with with DS1 and DD).

Well, DH let me sleep on Mother's Day. He's making me a fish finger sandwich (mu choice!!). I have a sore throat and DS1 has ear infection!!

What a moaner I am...

Hope everyone got treats and chocolates and flowers........

suejonez · 18/03/2007 19:38

my mum bought DS a small bunch of roses in a little bag with handles - so sweet as he was able to carry the bag and give it to me, awww. And a card with his scribbled pen marks and a photot of her and him which is really nice.

We down to my brothers for lunch and we had... takeaway chinese. Does anyone else think that is a slightly odd thing to have for Sunday lunch . DB says he was too hungover after watching the rugby with friedns and staying with them last night to do anything else

Poor DS has the most shocking cough just as I though he was over his cold, the cough developed. He was up half the night, kept coughing himself awake. In the end I got him into bed with me, I didn't get any more sleep but it stopped me having to get out of bed every 30 mins. Have a feeling I'm in for another difficult night - I can already hear him coughing. Oh joy.

Paddlechick666 · 18/03/2007 19:43

evening all

yeah a chinese for sunday lunch is a bit weird sue! we had roast lamb and delish it was too.

i got a little bear with a chocolate around his neck that my mum got for dd to give me. dd now asleep clutching the bear - awww!

i had a t shirt delivered earlier in the week and a card came from dh yesterday. he texted this morning but i haven't replied. am now in a quandry as to reply or not.....

sue, humidifier works wonders for the cough as does medi-sed. hope things are quieter tonight.

foxie, you may have been partly to blame altho i think i just forgot too! despite the score line i don't think the welsh win could've cheered me up as much as you tho.

suejonez · 18/03/2007 19:46

I have tried the medised tonight - partly because I think he desparately needs the sleep poor little sod and partly because I'm hoping the decongestant might dry up his cough a bit. Not sure a dehumidifier would work it is a wet chesty cough not a dry one?

foxcub · 18/03/2007 19:51

Sue - sorry to hear about DS being ill - hope you both get a bit more sleep tonight.

foxcub · 18/03/2007 19:53

Oh BTW Sue, you offered a hand tomorrow. Well, your DS is sick anyway and so is my DS1, so am going to keep the monsters at home tomorrow.

Will call CM as well when I remember where my brain is...

Paddlechick666 · 18/03/2007 19:58

hmmm, yeh i don't know if it's good for that sue.

well, supper for me is 2 packets of mini chedders and some popcorn i think!

suejonez · 18/03/2007 20:02

errm, actually Foxie - I offered to help Tuesday and Friday (I'm working tomorrow!)

nopudstilleaster · 18/03/2007 20:29

foxie, do you need a hand tomorrow? If so, I've got nothing on so could pop over if you like.

MrsBigD · 18/03/2007 20:40

sorry to hear about all the sick lo's. fingers crossed mine are just grumpy...

dh took care of mother's day dinner... pizza delivery... the place we use does wicked onion & cheese garlic calzone Must have had at least 10,000 kcals today. YUM

mellow2 · 18/03/2007 20:40

ele and sfx,
Good tips about father's day! Tbh, I don't think dh cares about father's day.

Anyway, we did go out for lunch and we're getting takeaway so I don't have to cook today which is a treat for me.

xoxo · 18/03/2007 20:48

HI - t'is me dropping in quickly as per usual.
firstly - welcome newbie Oirish pickme. I'm from Belfast and am unlikely to declare myself English (sorry Sue). We are a cosmopolitan lot here - and I don't just mean the cocktails.
Sue - good call on the takeaway option - I hoped you'd offer!
MrsBigD: I'm also happy to come to the housewarming - oh my, it's almost like a social life!! But may have to suck it and see as we are going on hols soon after and I assume that I'll still be stuck with the packing etc despite being a working mum now. Question for all you long term working mums - does dh/ dp EVER do half the housework? Am I being niave?

Foxy: If you're still having bother by Weds would it help if I popped over to try to help? I was taught the 'rugby' tackle feeding position.

mellow2 · 18/03/2007 20:56

Foxie,
I don't think you're a moaner at all. I have trouble with getting enough time to sleep and eat with one. I don't know how you do it with 3. Anyway, I think a mom with a newborn should be entitled to moan for at least 6 months after having to go through childbirth. And that's what MN is for.

Glad to hear that your bfing is getting better. I started out getting flattened nips and then dd corrected her latch and my nips look the same before and after.

I couldn't tell you how shocked I was when that happened.

Hang in there, Monti can only get better at it.

suejonez · 18/03/2007 22:12

is the rugby position, shorts around the ankles mooning out the back window of the coach?

Paddlechick666 · 18/03/2007 22:19

no sue, it's comatose but still clutching a pint glass and singing dirty ditties.......

suejonez · 18/03/2007 22:20
Grin
suejonez · 18/03/2007 22:21

I'm going to bed now, hoping for a halfway decent nights sleep. Haven;t worked out what I'm going to wear to work tomorrow and have an important meeting in teh morning. Must remember not to put the top with the snot DS rubbed on it tonight back on...

Paddlechick666 · 18/03/2007 22:30

n'night all.

ps: welcome newbies ;-)

bunyanvillas · 19/03/2007 08:35

Greetings, everyone and a belated Happy St Pat's and Mother's to all! Foxie, I didn't know you were a fake Oirish! Do you wear green tinted shades? Sitting here bleary eyed after being up half the night with DD who seems to have decided to wake at around 3-ish each morning and have a 2 hour screaming fit . She has also decided that "Daddy" is much better than mummy and so bedtimes have become a complete nightmare! As well as tantrums aplenty each day. She has only just turned 2 - please don't say it gets worse, lol. Anywhere - where is the snow?

Mrs B - would you recommend moving to Marlow?

Eleusis · 19/03/2007 08:56

Susie,
I'm intrigued now. What time were you there? What were you wearing? And how old is your son/daughter?

I bet we did run into each other.

Mellow, on father's day, hire someone to come and do whatever chores you normally do (clean the house?), go to the Bentall Centre in Kingston, put the little one in the creche and buy yourself something nice for YOUR father's day present.

My first Mother's Day was HORRIBLE. (which is probably why I am advocating this spiteful plan of revenge)
