A few degenerates seem to have the idea that some of us would for some reason once again want to get together for some drink and inane chatter somewhere in London sometime around Christmas.....

So with that in mind the date of 29 November is being paddled around.

Grin and Wine and much fun to be had!

EVERYONE welcome.

BBB - I think I'm quite happy to be 25% responsible.

DS always tells me to act my age, not my shoe size (which is 6!)

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/12/2014 19:54

Humph!

I think everyone there was a a highly responsible adult, all of whom are entitled to take a break now and then.

But they all got on the right train Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/12/2014 20:03

Oops, sorry magi I was answering MyGhost who is from my neck of the woods Wink

We have history Grin

magimedi · 01/12/2014 22:01

History?

Schmistory!!!

You are forgiven - hope to have an 'istroy with you too, soon!!

BathshebaDarkstone · 01/12/2014 22:05

Really sorry to have missed this, maybe when DS is older and DH is capable of looking after both DC without an instruction manual! Hmm

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/12/2014 22:37

It would be lovely to meet you *Bathsheba, I'm guessing you didn't have a manual either.

Leave him to it, they'll all survive.

MyGhostIsFlummoxed · 02/12/2014 03:05

History sounds so intriguing!

SanityClause · 02/12/2014 06:40

I was responsible, magi. I got Blondes to Charing Cross.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2014 10:06

You did :) thank you Flowers or I would have been lost wandering round London forever

Got home and had a snack and sent to bed early. Afternoon drinking doesn't toll well with me

Or maybe it was the wine and I did say in the pub no one let me have wine and what happens????

We got through bottles of it !!!!!!

limitedperiodonly · 02/12/2014 13:40

I was a prefect but it wasn't a special deal. Every lower sixth former was a prefect, which freed up the teachers for drinking and smoking at lunch time.

These were the days when it was acceptable for teachers to smoke in the classroom smelling of booze. Sometimes before noon.

It was sold to our parents as a character-building exercise and something that would look good on our CVs.

I resisted, as a protest against the mindless adherence to petty rules and the oppression of minority groups, in this case the under-14s.

I like to think I've always stood up for the downtrodden in society.

But mostly it was because I wanted to play my Jam and Elvis Costello records in the common room rather than performing crowd-control on muddy 11-13s.

Not that you looked at all muddy blondes. You and your beautiful hair looked like you would repel mud and grub like WonderWoman's magic bracelets.

What do you do to get your hair so straight?

limitedperiodonly · 02/12/2014 13:52

PS: I was an insufferably bolshy teenager

PPS: I was next to you blondes and I didn't think you drank that much at all. How can drink lemonade though? Urggh!

BTW Recorded TWD for tonight so I'll join the Telly Addicts thread tomorrow. I've avoided it today.

FruVikingessOla · 02/12/2014 16:45

SGB, we didn't have a row at all - it was all very good natured. I just realised that I was less than tactful to you about our similar scenarios - and I 'pushed' the question out of curiosity really - because it was something I hadn't really thought about, or rather something that I had dealt with differently.

But, anyway, I think we also found some common ground elsewhere, which was quite amusing.

SolidGoldBrass · 02/12/2014 21:16

I don';t remember you being tactless so no worries. I would definitely be up for doing it all again, anyway Wink

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 02/12/2014 23:14

Again again! as I remember the fucking Teletubbies saying.

So February. We will have to be careful of half terms etc.

Limited I promise you will not have to organise the next one single handed!

I just keep thinking back to it and all the great chat and laughs. It was such a great afternoon and such a privilege to meet all of you.

Ok will stop gushing now but honestly you are all FAB.

SanityClause · 02/12/2014 23:17

No problem, Blondes.

I agree with limited about your lovely hair, and general lack of mud.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/12/2014 07:09

Pmsl. Don't do mud

My hair is my name :) sadly I don't do anything to it. It's just naturally Striaght. Drives me insane tbh

Neat wine gets me absolutely wankered and just can't drink it anymore

I've matured and finally learnt what I can and can't drink

Love gin :)

Worked last two nigjys and havnt seen twd and avoided thread tho will hopefully watch tonight - best friend texted me mon night saying omfg!!!! I said what and she said twd. I said havnt seen it yet and shush !!!

But meant to be a good one !!!! Or a bad one and assume someone dies :(

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/12/2014 19:28

Bewitched, I didn't get on the right train. And that was before I had any gin. I think wrong train catching is a sort of rite of passage thing. Do you remember Bruno and the free espresso? Grin

magimedi · 03/12/2014 23:04

Oi! Pesky

Stop stealing everyones' fancy men!

You have form for that!!!

Trust you not to be able to catch a train - honestly, I despair of you. Who let you out?? Grin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 04/12/2014 10:12

Oh dear Juan, you obviously ended up in the right place, which scenic route did you take?

Bruno and the free espresso are about the last things I do remember!
Maybe he spiked it! Grin

PoirotsMoustache · 04/12/2014 10:56

Ooh it sounds like you all had a wonderful time, I'm so pleased! Also very gutted I missed it Sad. I did think of you all.

My fingers are firmly crossed that I will be able to make the next one. Even if I will feel like the newbie!

limitedperiodonly · 04/12/2014 15:40

I can't drink cocktails Blondes. I drink too fast. But I'm fine with wine or tall drinks such as gin and tonic. As we discussed: your gin and lemonade would stay on the table. Discusting heathen. Grin

I'm going to this place next week for a Christmas do Someone else has organised it and we're just going to turn up.

I know nothing about them , but it looks good for a drink and nibbles on the wander rather than a sit-down meal. I think that would be better for getting to know people.

I'll report back. I predict heaving carnage, but that's what makes for the best stories Wink

After a lifetime of anti-socialism, I'm getting into this meet-up thingy.

limitedperiodonly · 04/12/2014 15:49

Can I just say that I was flabbergasted by Bruno's attentiveness to me.

Whenever I attend with DH, Bruno veers between total indifference to downright hostility.

I conclude this is because DH is a very attractive older man and Bruno thought I was holding the money that day. Wink

magimedi · 04/12/2014 17:02

Limited The Old Bank looks lovely, but its website says it is closed on Saturdays & Sundays.

The MN Christmas meet up last year was in a pub very close to London Bridge & I think they let them have all of the upstairs. I couldn't go but I know someone who did, if you want me to ask.

limitedperiodonly · 04/12/2014 17:10

Does it magimedi? Bugger,

The George in Borough seemed good. I've been before but couldn't make the last meet up.

It sounded good though.

FruVikingessOla · 04/12/2014 18:24

limited, Fuller's pubs have shit wine lists IMHO - and FYI Grin
