Hi everyone, welcome Kate, I'm a newbie to mn as well, so hope to see you either next week or week after!

Nice to meet you all at the lollipop club - it is quite amusing to try to work out if you know someone through mn or if you're just going to make a bit of a fool of yourself!

Dh came home to look after ds while I went to sort out his passport, apparently ds wolfed down his lunch & has been asleep for the last 2 hours - so of course now I have an 'easy life' according to dh!!

fatfox · 22/09/2006 18:41

Nanou - Hi

Yes I'm fine thanks - bit tired, you know

A bit jealous of all these daytime meet ups TBH

How is your little DD? Have you pursued the potty training any further? DS and DD didn't train until thre.

fatfox · 22/09/2006 18:41

3!

xoxoxo · 22/09/2006 20:55

quokka: ds could do pees in potty from about 2 and half but did not suss out poos until almost 3 and half. He was afraid he was going to fall in.
On other hand, dd has been potty trained since 18 months. She takes after me. DS takes after his dad.

quokka · 22/09/2006 21:10

Well poos are fine on the potty and loo, but he hasn't sussed out wees yet . I think he tries and does a wee but he's trying so hard a poo pops out , very funny!

Paddlechick666 · 23/09/2006 08:00

morning all

great to meet you 2cute and Pudding and to see you again BigKat.

dd finally ate her own lunch and stopped begging food off other kids and we went to collect dh.

the nursery we looked at in the arvo was not good so she won't be going there!

I'm deff up for the Childsplay next Friday.

Is anyone going here tomorrow?

I'm after a new sling but I want to try before I buy. I REALLY fancy one of these

welcome back Foxy, we missed ya.

it's quiet with MrsBigD, hope she's enjoying the trip and not killed her mother yet lol

Paddle - that fair looks really good - vaguely contemplating visiting it this morning - what time are you planning to go (we have a playdate at 3pm)?

Oxo/Quokka - DD made me proud yeserday. While I was "busy" on MN, she climed onto the loo (has no child seat on it) sat and did a poo! Usually she's afraid she's fall down it and I have to hold her. She came back and announced "I did a poo on the toilet all by myself, like a Big Girl". She was so chuffed with herself

fatfox · 23/09/2006 09:30

Why do ^s only work when they feel like it - eh?

YanksUponThames · 23/09/2006 09:40

Hello all! Hope the lollipop people had fun yesterday -- I wanna go some time soon if anyone else wants to! (ds is 4) I'm a bit that I wasn't able to make it (or do anything with MN but lurk lately) due to home-office chores like writing/typing letters to old landlord & letting agency about getting our security deposit back from our old flat! Hmpf.

How easy/hard is it for someone from near Kew Road to get to the childs play cafe? I talked about it briefly with PC666 at dinner last Fri but haven't researched thoroughly yet...

YanksUponThames · 23/09/2006 09:42

Uh, given the fact that I don't have a car, I mean. How close is the cafe to Tube/major bus routes?
(sorry if this has already been discussed; haven't been keeping up well...)

fatfox · 23/09/2006 09:55

Hi Yanks - what time is the Child's Play meet on 29th?

I might be able to dash down there between 12-2.30 and could give you a lift.

Or we even could do a 4pm?

DS wants me to do this:

quokka · 23/09/2006 10:21

yanks cpc is walking distance from Turhnam Green tube. I have to leave after just 12 to pick up ds1 from nursery so will get there for 10am. Nothing stopping you guys from doing an arvo meetup?

fatfox · 23/09/2006 10:25

Quoka - don't worry - it all seems too complicated for me in my current tired state anyway

If anyone wants to a Friday pm Lollipop Club meet one week, give us a shout though

suejoneziscalmernow · 23/09/2006 10:27

want to meet for a coffee later FF?

suejoneziscalmernow · 23/09/2006 10:28

"Why do ^s only work when they feel like it - eh? "

Because you can't put them around whole sentances only indiviual words - they don't like spaces for some reason.

quokka · 23/09/2006 10:31

sj so sorry to hear about the delays, are you going crazy yet or are you past that stage?

suejoneziscalmernow · 23/09/2006 10:35

went crazy a long time ago Quooka but work quite hard at covering it up so I can go about in plite society without too much hassle.

I'm trying to think of things to fill the time in for the next few weeks.

quokka · 23/09/2006 10:38

I can only imagine! Do you want to come over and see ds1 using the potty

suejoneziscalmernow · 23/09/2006 10:41

kind over - if I dn;t manage to find anything else to do, I will of course rush over to admire the usage of potty.

quokka · 23/09/2006 10:45

what about knitting? I did ds a blanket while I was pregnant?

suejoneziscalmernow · 23/09/2006 10:46

d'you know I did actually consider taking up knitting again. maybe I should go raid a knitting shop. Are there knitting shops still?

quokka · 23/09/2006 10:54

yea the one I go to is in turhnam green but you could jump on a tube and go to Peter Jones in Sloane square thats got really good yarn and pattern books

YanksUponThames · 23/09/2006 10:59

Cool beans about Childs Play being close to Tube. Thanks, quokka!! Look forward to meeting you...

Our sudden plans today:
If anyone fancies a visit to Kew Gardens today(esp. the Climbers & Creepers play space), it looks like ds + dh + I will be going over there in a while. Not sure exactly, but prob around 12 or 1pm. Probably will snack there too.
If anyone's handy and not otherwise occupied, gimme a ring at 079 1402 2751.

Sorry about insanely short notice/lack of organization! Dh's job has been extra busy these days (upcoming move of office space; dh has to completely sort their electrics & IT, and deal with a lot of prats/nuisances in the process), so hard to plan ahead around work interruptions etc.

YanksUponThames · 23/09/2006 11:06

Congrats on potty usage! Damn, does that make life easier. So happy when ds shifted over to it fairly quickly (age 3). I honestly think that waiting a bit and not pushing too early made it go faster for him. Though I know loads of people who did it much sooner, either because they had to or because their kids felt like it. Also, Thomas underpants provided some incentive for not messing them up. (a suggestion from a friend that worked) Potty seat the size of a kid's butt also helps, plus step/stool to climb up. Ds still a bit concerned about falling in big hole. Prob ought to wean him off that. Makes it easier for him to do it by himself, tho, without bothering me!

YanksUponThames · 23/09/2006 11:17

Sue -
damn, sorry about things hanging etc. Please let me know if you want to get together! Today (we'll go to Kew I think), tomorrow, any other day.
