Hurry up!

So are we doing Wednesday? 10am for cake or 12 noon for cake lunch?

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 29/05/2011 19:14

If I am coming, 10am would be better for me.
Not sure yet, will have to let you know nearer to.

BH are getting more intense, but still very infrequent.

Do have dodgy bowels, and back ache so hoping it is a sign. Have been sniffing clary sage and bouncing on my ball. But tbh hope she doesn't come before Tuesday as I really need to get my tax return done. Was going to do it today (now I have FINALLY got the activation code from the HMRC website!) but phone line and internet have been down all day!

Indith · 30/05/2011 09:49

Ok so tax return today and she can be born tonight so that D sleeps through it. Sorted Grin Then obviously since this is a second baby you'll be fine to come for cake on Wednesday Wink

Hope you have your phone back today. They just did all teh stuff at the exchange thingy for fibreoptic broadband int he village but they are trying to roll it out over such a huge area so quickly they have had a load of contractors doing the donkey work before they go put the fibres in. Anyway, the contractors managed to slice through a cable and cut a street off the phone here and while my dcs were dangling over the fence watching I learned that there had been loads of mistakes made at various different exchanges. Oops. Case of more haste less speed I think!

Have waved the boy off to see his granny for the week. She won't take the girl too so I'm stuck with her for the week. Adorable little madam that she is. "I'm a pwincess mummy. I so beeyootiful mummy. I'm a wabbit ok? I go hop hop weally weally fast ok? I watch beebies now."

What is it with girls and princesses? Ok we tell he she is beautiful a lot (we tell ds too but he is a boy so he claims that he is handsome instead) but we've never done the whole "daddy's little princess" thing yet she twirls around claiming ot be one.

Have no bread or yoghurt left. hot chocolate and chocolate digestives is an acceptable breakfast right? I suppose at this time it could almost be elevenses Hmm. I need to go shopping but it is raining .

spiggy · 30/05/2011 10:32

got the hv at 10 on wed so I'd be a bit later. not that much later as she knows i ignore everything she says have my own ideas on babycare Grin

Kara- hope she turns up soon

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/05/2011 10:42

Hot choc and digestives sounds perfect!

What is up with BT? PILs had no phone for about 3 week due to an exchange problem, I wonder if it was to do with the fibre optic upgrade.

Our phone came back on last night, too late to do tax return. Need to do stuff with DS today as he is back at nursery tomorrow.

Oh and I wonder where he gets the "i hate pink" from as well so IKWYM with regards to the princess thing". One of the things I liked about the clothes you have loaned me is the lack of any princessy shite Grin

Spiggy, "Politics of Breastfeeding" "Food of Love" and "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" will be prominently displayed on my coffee table when HV comes to visit Wink

Indith · 30/05/2011 12:31

3 weeks! Shock Don't know about that but they are aiming for 80% of the country to be fibreoptic to teh exchange by the end of the summer which is extremely fast roll out so inevitable that there will be some problems.

Can do a bit later Spiggy, I don't mind, what time works for you?

Kara there were a few vomit inducing bits that dd only wore when I was behind on the washing, I tried to weed most of them out. We had some terrible vests (I hope I remembered to take those out!) that I actually got in a charity shop when pg with ds just because they were cheap and I needed more vests. They said things like "when I grow up I want to be a hair dresser/pop star". Ds still loves pink above any other colour :)

I haven't forgiven the hv for telling me "there is nothing you can do- be grateful you have milk" when I asked for help managing an oversupply with DS1. I had so much milk that it squirted over 3 feet during let down (yes I measured Grin) and I would leak through 3 breastpads, a bra, T shirt and jumper in less than 5 mins. I couldn't leave the house because I'd be wet through and ended up with nappies strapped to my chest to try and deal with the milk. It was making my life hell.Thank god for kellymom. Followed their advice and sorted it out in 2 days. But will now pay no attention to the hv. Oh and she told me that M wouldn't sleep because he was spoilt by us getting up for him when he cried. Last time I saw her I pointed out that the consultant told us that it was because his tonsils were blocking his throat so he couldn't breathe. She didn't apologise...

I can probably make 11ish for cake. I can try out DS2's name on you all- it looks like we are going poncey as it is the only one we can agree we like.

I hate the princessy thing as well- DP's auntie buys DD loads of pink and frilly. I was so proud when she teamed the pink tutu with wellies, skeleton mask and witches hat when she finally wore it Grin. DS1 keeps telling me that pink is for girls (I blame nursery) and in return gets a lecture about how it is not just for girls and girls and have any colour they want. All this washes over DD who proudly declares "I a big boy" whenever she does something new...

Indith · 30/05/2011 15:51

Urgh, Health Visitors. My old one was absolutely fantastic. I do not see eye to eye with the one here. I think that with number 3 (no not pregnant yet but we're working on it Grin) I am going to try to change HV, I don't want things to go the smae way they did last time so I want someone I can trust and talk to.

11 is fine for me, look forward to finding out the name! I've told Foxy too :). We've not actually said where, usual?

OP posts:
spiggy · 30/05/2011 15:57

oooh working on it???!!! I have to say that (so far) the move from 2 to 3 has been much easier than 1 to 2. Mind DS2 has started throwing up after every feed so I reserve the right to change my mind Grin

Cafe continental then?

Indith · 30/05/2011 16:05

Ah ds was a happy chucker, didn't stop until he stopped feeding. He used to do at least one huge niagra falls style whole feed vomit a day too. It was most impressive but not very practical when out!

Yes, dh convinced (or maybe just resigned) and iron levels back to normal range (just) so I need to get pg before anything else crops up to stop me!

OP posts:
spiggy · 30/05/2011 17:13

woo hoo!

M was sicky as well so am resigned to changing babygros 15million times a day. DS2 has 2 extra irritating charming habits. 1)MASSIVE wees that nappies can't cope with so you suddenly get a warm feeling spreading acoss your arm/chest/where ever he has decided to sleep. 2) filling his nappy then promptly falling asleep so you have to wake him up to change him which he protests about for the next 2 hours. hmmm I'm not helping the cause of 3rd babies am I?!

Indith · 30/05/2011 17:23

Grin bet he is so cute though.

I've been obsessed with looking at the calendar and working out when I'm ovulating but I was late last month so I'm all thrown out. Not usually like that given that I've become pg at the drop of a hat withthe last 2 but with dh working in London it could complicate things!

OP posts:
juneybean · 30/05/2011 17:47

Squee for TTCing no. 3, I remember telling my boss that it's easier to go from 2 to 3 than 1 to 2 when she was pregnant with no. 2 Blush like I'd know?!!

Indith · 30/05/2011 17:54

I've been telling dh the same thing Grin, it is what everyone says isn't it. I think I told him it would be easier to go to 3 when dd was born too "because you already have the juggling skills and I don't yet waaaaaa!I need sleeeeeeeeeeep! How the hell do you entertain a toddler while feeding a baby! No! Don't you dare say you are reconsidering more children it will be easier to go to 3!"

Hmm

No wonder he took so long to come around.

OP posts:
spiggy · 30/05/2011 17:54

cute? he's just weeed on my arm AGAIN! Is it really bad that I've just tucked a towel under him so he'll stay asleep? Grin have just laughed at the thread in aibu about having high expectations of yourself as a parent. The only question I ask nowadays is "what gives me the greatest chance of some peace and quiet?"

Indith · 30/05/2011 17:57

How can a child that small wee so much? What the hell are you feeding him?

I've not read that thread yet, was saving it for a good sit down and a giggle. I reckon if we reach the end of the day, all alive with all limbs attached we've done well. If I've managed to wrangle them into bed, they've actually fallen asleep instead of playing silly buggars and I've got a drink and some crap on TV then so much teh better.

OP posts:
spiggy · 30/05/2011 18:05

how can he wee that much when he has thrown up what seems like the bulk of his milk?!

I laughed like a drain at 2 points in particular. no dummy- I was adamant about this. until I'd done 6 weeks of M being on the boob for 18 hours a day. the other 6 he was screaming. no tv except at weekends- this answers your question about how to entertain a toddler while feeding a baby. cbeebies. and shrek. and scooby doo. they have probably watched more tv in the past week than is recommended for a year and I don't care

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/05/2011 18:16

Cafe continental would be fine with me, maybe a walk down the cobbles will help me along Grin

Spiggy - you are just trying to scare me out of hurrying this baby along Grin

Indith - yippee for TTCing number 3!!

spiggy · 30/05/2011 20:14

Can I ask for some help? I'm looking for latex orthodontic dummies suitable for newborns. All over the place when DS1 was little but apparently non-existant nowadays. I can find newborn latex cherry ones, newborn orthodontic silicone ones and latex orthodontic 6 month+ ones but not the ones that I've had success with in the past. DS2 is sucking for comfort because he's throwing up so much and a dummy might help avoid the suck, drink, vomit cycle. If you see some could you let me know where so i can buy up the entire stock? Ta muchly.

Kara- can you just remind me how annoying it is being heavily pregnant? It'd really help at the moment Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/05/2011 20:36

I used the Tommee Tippee closer to nature orthodontic one, but I have a feeling they are only available with silicone teats.Just checked on the Tommee Tippee website but it looks like they have been discontinued.

I have found these It may be worth looking in a larger Boots as they may stock them there?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/05/2011 20:38

Oh and my back aches, I have piles, my adbdomen hurts and I keep getting BH contractions and my bump is quite tender to the touch.
The good news is the heartburn has gone Grin

spiggy · 30/05/2011 20:52

thanks Kara, I feel better now despite changing DS2 for the 4000 time today Grin

heartburn gone? baby dropped a bit more then?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 31/05/2011 08:12

Yep, it has gone, thank goodness as it was horrid, almost constant!

Just a feeling of heaviness very low down now...

I am still coming tomorrow, but will not use the Park n Ride, which carpark is closest to the cafe? I normally park in Prince Bishops if I don't use the PnR?

juneybean · 31/05/2011 11:15

There's sometimes space on old elvet which is the street running horizontal to cafe continental, but you gotta pay in advance so put enough money in the meter! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 31/05/2011 12:29

There is also street parking up near the union and across the road from it (downhill on the way to the cafe but uphill on the way back :o)
