Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

@NotDonna You asked 'any ideas for cod?' - My answer - put in back on the shelf and buy gammon! 😂

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cod-cucumber-avocado-mango-salsa-salad

ooh just found this! I can avoid the mango on my portion (have some in the freezer which should still work) & could do coconut rice on the side for the DDs. Looks yummy!

That actually looks dead easy. Might try that with the remainder of my fish pie mix. 😂

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/07/2024 09:28

Slinking back in............fell off the thread somewhere around week 7 and have been reading but struggling to catch up. @NotDonna we've been away and come back with an extra 5lb but not as exciting as your trip sounds! Festival this weekend which are always a disaster for LC but strict this week until we go and the weather forecast is ok for once which is good for water intake (tend to drink less alcohol when it's warmer oddly!).

For cod I'd pair it with chorizo or bacon somehow - either in a kind of stew with onions/tomatoes/spinach or wrapped and roasted with salad leaves or veg.

I think in terms of goal weight vs maintenance I'm almost a mirror of @NotDonna in that 143lb is my ideal as it's right in the middle of a healthy BMI but I'm comfortable at anywhere between 150lb-160lb and find it quite easy to maintain and lose any extra gain without being too strict. I struggle with strict BC as DD is fussy as hell and also plays football 4/5 times a week plus works in a bar so meals tend to be carb-heavy, odd times to fit in with her schedule and fairly restricted! However (much as I love her and will miss her like crazy) she's off to uni 🙏🙏in September so my plan is to maintain and hopefully lose the odd lb up until then and take stock of where I am then.

Brunch is already made for today - spinach, mushroom, cherry toms and chorizo fried in butter with a hard-boiled egg and chilli flakes so I'll warm that up whenever I feel like it, and dinner for me is leftover creamy chicken and roast cauliflower from Saturday. No idea what the carbies are having, DSS and his girlfriend are here and both picky, DH is on holiday, DD training at 7pm and I'm trying to catch up on work with a houseful!

@MissBeck great loss too!

Apologies for the long post all!

😮😮😮I am going to pretend I didn't read that!! Not like... How... Why.... WHAT! Oh man, I'm shocked! 😂
Too be honest, the majority of my diet comes off a pig! If they banned them, or they were wiped out with some horrific desease, I would starve!! 😂

MissBeckIsAtWork · 22/07/2024 11:57

Hi @TheOnlyMrsW 👋Slink back in as much as you want! Plenty of room on the wagon as lots have jumped off!! 🐎🏇

Lougle · 22/07/2024 12:11

@NotDonna I made a lovely dish with chicken yesterday, that could easily be made with cod:

Fry bacon lardons until brown - set aside
Fry cod in the same pan until cooked - set aside
Add mushrooms and a few sliced baby plum tomatoes to the pan, fry until browned.
Add a squeeze of garlic, and cook for 1 minute
Add a couple of handfuls of spinach and wilt.
Pour in double cream and bubble for 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Add grated cheese (cheddar or parmesan) to thicken the sauce

Serve cod and bacon in sauce.

MissBeckIsAtWork · 22/07/2024 12:21

Ooh @Lougle That looks good as well!! Will screenshot that when I get home. 👏

somanylights · 22/07/2024 12:24

I'm still on the wagon, but have had no scales access for the last few weeks! Have stuck to the rules (with the occasional slip of too much 90% choc and too many nuts; I'm not one of these people that struggle to eat more than 2 squares of dark choc...). Planning on being strict this week, and will have scales access next Monday! Am so impressed and inspired by all the reported losses on here. If it suits you, it's such a natural WoE, and it's wonderful to hear about so many people having such success with it!

Lougle · 22/07/2024 12:34

@somanylights It would drive me nuts not having access to scales! 😁I'm a daily weigher and I keep a food diary, so when I go off piste I can see exactly what caused it, although, with my history it's normally not hard to see what I ate so bad, such as mars bars and snickers, carvery dinners and puddings, pizza, toasties!! 😜😝

Ooh that does look good! Despite cooking all morning I’ve yet to have bfast/lunch & that photo has made me hungry! Yummy!

Wallywobbles · 22/07/2024 16:05

I've been working on a low-carb chocolate cake. I'd be interested in @BIWI take on it. I think it's about 19g of carbs per portion.

I've been doing it by eye but roughly speaking
2 tbs of ground almonds
1/2 tsp of cocoa powder
Shake of desiccated unsweetened coconut
4 dates soaked in water with some vanilla pod
A bit of coconut cream
1 egg
1/2 tsp of baking powder.

In the oven at 180 °C, in 2 ramekins (so 2 portions). Serve with coconut cream.

NotDonna · 22/07/2024 22:51

@Wallywobbles ooh I’d also be interested to see what biwi thinks. Dates are very carby & sweet but maybe as a very rare treat? How do you actually make it though?

UnOeufIsEnough · 22/07/2024 23:22

I love cod just pan-fried with lots of butter and olive oil with stir fried savoy cabbage. Lots of black pepper and Parmesan at the end and a bit of lemon. Delicious! Smile

I am burst by the school holidays. I've got 3 kids aged between 10 & 6 and we've had builders in almost every day for two months. We're in Scotland so a fair few weeks into the holidays and juggling the kids plus renovations plus work is starting to kick my arse. I'm crabbit by the end of the day and the low level bickering is getting on my wick! I've managed to stay low carb but the temptation to fall off the wagon is building.

I've got a couple of weeks off starting this weekend...one week self-catering up north and a week at home but I think knowing my time off work is so close, I'm so ready for it! Hoping a break will give me the motivation I need to embrace it all again!

NotDonna · 23/07/2024 04:52

@UnOeufIsEnough aargh! I have 3 - albeit no longer little ankle biters but I remember it well!
I made the cod with salsa from bbc good food above and it was ok - not very flavoursome. I’ll do oefs idea next time I want a summery cod.

TheOnlyMrsW · 23/07/2024 08:23

Ouch @UnOeufIsEnough that sounds tough, well done for staying on track! We always had DSS's for the school holidays and they were in Scotland, us in England and it was really difficult to manage with DD often still in school.

1.8lb down since getting back on Saturday so proof that the wagon is easy to jump back on. DSS1 & gf off home today, DH still on holiday until tomorrow and DD out playing again tonight an hour's drive away so meals will be a faff again - sigh...........

Thesoundofmusic23 · 23/07/2024 13:05

A week of camping with old friends here - too much booze and more carbs than normal but will be jumping back in afterwards. Feel I’m hovering consistently in a range of 3-4lbs now - have done for 3 months so am confident I can stay here and maybe later in the year drop a bit again. Also love the idea of the cod up thread. Yum! I’ll be doing that soon.

UnOeufIsEnough · 23/07/2024 13:18

Thanks @NotDonna and @TheOnlyMrsW I'm feeling much more positive than I was last night. ♥️♥️

diktat · 24/07/2024 14:49

Hi all, I noticed that I developed very dark under eyes and quite sunken in eyes during bootcamp, and they have normalised now.

Any idea what I can do to stop this happening again? I've googled it and there are various responses such as not drinking enough water, not eating enough fat or not getting enough electrolytes such as magnesium.

Has anybody else experienced this?

BIWI · 24/07/2024 16:02

Well none of those things should have applied during Bootcamp@diktat! Were you drinking the amount of water you should have, eating plenty of fat and ensuring that you kept your electrolytes up?

Eeek @FinallyHere - what's gone wrong with the spreadsheet? I can only see row 24!

Thanks BIWI, I was averaging 2 litres of water a day and taking electrolyte supplements pills daily. But I don't think I was eating enough fat (GP said my bad cholesterol was high so I cut back). Could that be it?

BIWI · 24/07/2024 16:08

Was 2 litres a day, given how much you weigh? (Sorry - I can't see the spreadsheet to check that).

And low carb is a high fat diet. It should reduce cholesterol, so no need to worry about that.

What are you eating now, when you say that it's normalised for you?
