May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Final weigh-in and ongoing chat

Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

Sorry to hear about your IT headaches @MissBeck I’ve been there and you think wth?!

After a few days of being back on the low carb wagon I’m glad to say that weight has dropped nicely. Not to the last weigh in but better than Mondays shock.

Thats fab news @DrBlackbird !! Mine stayed the same today which isn't brilliant but better than it going up! 😂

alwaysonadiet1 · 18/07/2024 09:58

Mange tout are very low carb

BIWI · 18/07/2024 10:29

@MissBeck mange tout are 4.1g carbs per 100g.

If ever you need to know the carb count of anything, search for it on Sainsbury's website. They give a full nutritional breakdown of most of the products that they stock.

Thanks @alwaysonadiet1 and @BIWI , although that still seems high to me. 😂

BIWI · 18/07/2024 22:01

It's really not too high - anything under 5g is absolutely fine.

Well done for KOKO.

I'm down to 138.7lbs now. I put on 2lbs because I went to Cosmos for my sister's hen do and although I stayed mostly low carb, most of the food had gluten, so I mainly indulged in meat and over ate. Plus I had a small helping of Eton mess. But as @BIWI says, it's gone again.

Ooh, I dream of being 138lbs! I haven't had Eton mess for ages!! Now you've put that in my head! 😂

What planned meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) are you looking forward to over the weekend/next week?

Just doing my online food shop to be delivered tomorrow and I'm not feeling very inspired!

@Magnolia82 Oh, I am not the best person to ask as I just wing it day by day! 😂I ALWAYS have prawns in my freezer as they make a super quick prawn cocktail lunch for work. I also always mushrooms cause I add them to nearly every meal. Oh, and eggs for omlettes, boiled, fried. And scratchings!! 😂

Magnolia82 · 19/07/2024 19:13

Thank you @MissBeck

If anyone else sees this before around 10pm, let me know anything that might inspire me! Hoping to get time to have a quick look through the recipes thread later, so hopefully they might give me some fresh ideas.

I'm rubbish at planning, but today I had courgette, leek and mushroom fried in butter, steak and a creamy pepper sauce.

Magnolia82 · 19/07/2024 22:08

Thank you, @Lougle Sounds delicious.

My shop has ended up being quickly selecting lots of my 'favourites', but hoping to find some time over the weekend to plan some new ideas for the following week.

prettybird · 20/07/2024 08:47

Meant to ask you @BIWI - how much did you end up winning on the lottery? Wink

I presume it wasn't earth shattering Grin

BIWI · 20/07/2024 14:30

£2.90!

The Milky Bars clearly aren't on me Grin

Hi campers & Keeping goingers! I went on hols in week 7 with a weigh in of 151.6 and returned today (some 3 weeks later) now at 155.4 - it’s been a carb heavy alcohol fuelled 36hr journey home - similar to the carb heavy alcohol fuelled 3 weeks holiday. All things considered I’m pleased there’s only a 4 pound gain as I was expecting much worse. I’m away to Cornwall on Fri with girl friends, but I’ll be able to get slimline tonic, avoid wine, and carby sides and ideally puds/icecream. Plus between now and Friday I’m going strict with no alcohol, nuts, berries etc.

MissBeck · 21/07/2024 15:57

Hey @NotDonna Welcome home!! You've done exceptionally well to only gain 4lb, and that will be off in no time!

BIWI · 21/07/2024 16:28

Sounds like you did well but still managed to enjoy yourself, and eating/drinking @NotDonna Flowers

And it turns out it was only a 2.2lb gain according to this mornings scales. Nevertheless I’m stil more than I want to be. Looking at Happy Scale over the last year I’ve bounced between 155 & 150. I keep aiming for 140 (which I was for a wee while during 2020 & covid, where I had time to weigh, measure, count and do the Fast 800 thing - but it was miserable and impossible to continue once the covid restrictions were lifted and we were allowed out). I love BIWI’s method that’s so doable and with great results! Have others done ‘increments & maintain’ rather than a big ‘all at once’ loss?

Tesco forgot half our delivery yesterday albeit they did return 6hrs later with the missing trays. It meant I had some odd freezer concoctions (DH & DDs had pasta / pizza etc).
Bfast - Qantas eggs, toms, bacon & coffee
2nd bfast - cabbage/leek with pesto, Halloumi, olives
lunch - cabbage/leek with hot smoked salmon (defrosts & heats up well on micro)
Dinner - chicken, courgettes, peppers & feta all BBQ’d
lots of peppermint tea & sparkling water

NotDonna · 22/07/2024 07:20

My question wasn’t very clear.
I was wondering about aiming for 150 and maintaining 150 as my top weight with bootcamp light (as I bounce between 150 & 155); then once a bit steadier do ‘strict’ aiming for 145 as the top weight then doing ‘light’ and so on. Or is it better to keep being quite strict and get down to target and then go light?

MissBeck · 22/07/2024 07:20

Good Morning!!
So chuffed as I was sooo strict last week, and it's paid off!! 3.5lb loss! Haven't had a drop like that since week 1!! So that's 10 stone 5lb - 66.1kg - 145.73lbs. 😊

NotDonna · 22/07/2024 07:22

Yaay 🥳🥳 blooming well done @MissBeck So are you staying strict this week or moving into light?

😂😂@NotDonna Come on, you know my routine by now! I'll stay on strict as I always have and then have a fecking big blow out!! Come on here, confess, then carry on! 😂😂I was going to go back to my whole foods when bootcamp was over, meaning I could have all fruits, wholemeal pasta, potatoes and other stuff, but I did one week and in my head it was wrong, so stopped again.

NotDonna · 22/07/2024 08:01

🤣@MissBeck you are the pork scratching queen though!
I can’t stomach some carbs now. It’s weird how some are ok but the thought of some make me feel ill. I can not go near a wrap! Only crispy lettuce ones!

Any ideas for cod?

I’m going strict this week. I’m going to have a cooking morning and load up the freezer…

  1. a spicy Bolognese (a no bean chilli)
  2. creamy Tuscan chicken
  3. leeks & cabbage
  4. marinade some chicken for a BBQ
  5. find a nice cod recipe for tonight’s dinner
