May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Final weigh-in and ongoing chat

Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

Next Bootcamp will start on 21 October.

Great news. Thank you ver much @BIWI

NotDonna · 26/09/2024 23:31

@Rayna37 ooh your Turkish menenen sounds a bit like Shakshuka - love it!

NotDonna · 26/09/2024 23:36

🤣 I’ve just googled your menemen @Rayna37 I don’t like poached eggs as I’m weird about yolk and white being separated so when I make shakshuka I scramble the eggs & call it scramble shakshuka! Seems I’ve been making menemen! I use quite a bit of cumin seeds though!

Rayna37 · 27/09/2024 06:08

@NotDonna I make shakshuka quite a bit with lots of variations but I think it's the fennel seeds and serving with the garlicky yogurt that makes this recipe Menemen. It was from a book called "Posh Eggs" I sometimes pull off the shelf for inspiration.

Congratulations 🎉, when it happened to me I was over the moon!!!

UnOeufIsEnough · 28/09/2024 14:27

Thank you Smile I'm delighted! I've not been here since early 2020!

alwaysonadiet1 · 29/09/2024 14:15

@UnOeufIsEnough 🥳🎉🥳

Lougle · 30/09/2024 06:42

@UnOeufIsEnough that's fantastic!!

I'm down 0.2 of the 0.6lb I put on last week. So fairly steady, really.

AnotherNew01 · 02/10/2024 21:40

I'm going on holidays on the 25th so I've been low carbing since Monday. I'm hoping to shed a few lbs in the month. But I'll definitely be signing up for BC - LC works really well for me if I can get 'in the zone'

VeryGoodVeryNice · 02/10/2024 23:10

I can’t wait for the 21st. Just near the end of an all inclusive holiday and I have stuffed my face throughout 😬

BIWI · 03/10/2024 10:52

Isn't that the point of AI?! Grin

Turns out yes, there’s not much else to do 🤣. Swimming and eating, that’s it.

HappyDane · 03/10/2024 12:15

Hi again everyone! 💐 I'm easing myself back into very low carb intake over the next few weeks in readiness for BC; have already done a few days and am feeling great. Had been feeling quite rough - in that feeling well enough but not actually feeling well way, IYKWIM - from cumulative effects of not being careful, so it's nice to already be feeling so much better.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 03/10/2024 13:53

Looking forward to the 21st :) Thank you BIWI

I will be back from holiday on the weekend before - so perfect timing for a great first week's loss (and a miserable first weigh in).

prettybird · 03/10/2024 20:46

I'm highly stressed at the moment as my bastard brother is forcing the sale of my father's place and seems to be doing all he can to prevent the executor allowing me to buy out (for a good price) his 40% and the 20% of the grandchildren (ds and his two - ds is happy to help us) Angry

His place went on the market today Sad

As I result I've been falling face first into carbs and alcohol Sad

I'll do my best to pull myself together before the next Boot Camp Halo. I'm going to have a lot of work to do Blush

Goodiewhemper · 04/10/2024 05:41

@prettybird - that sounds very stressful indeed. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Probate, wills and inheritance often bring out the worst in people. Sending thoughts and 🎉

Goodiewhemper · 04/10/2024 05:53

@prettybird apologies that should have read thoughts and 💐.

BIWI · 04/10/2024 08:27

Sorry to hear that @prettybird Flowers

Next Bootcamp will start on 21 October.

I am definitely wanting to join Smile

prettybird · 04/10/2024 09:31

Just got another zinger in today from bastard brother (henceforth known as bb Wink). I am simultaneously supposed to do nothing to safeguard the contents (as the flat is now on the market, I'd agreed with the executor that I should bring across a couple of the more valuable paintings - the two in particular that ds and I would like and which bastard brother had agreed a year ago - to my house for safekeeping but he doesn't want them taken out as it "reduces the attraction of the flat" they are very striking paintings even though I was going to replace them with other pictures to ensure no gaps ), consult him in advance on everything but also reminds me that nothing belongs to us - it belongs to the estate and it's up to the executor. ConfusedAngry

It's stressing dh out as it's stressing me out.

I'm trying desparately not to fall in to comfort food. Sad

Sorry for offloading Sad

HappyDane · 04/10/2024 09:35

😡😡 that's really not nice @prettybird. People do often get extremely unreasonable after a death. Sending positive vibes. 💐

HappyDane · 04/10/2024 09:43

@prettybird I don't know if my little tip will help, but when I'm low carbing and I need a comforting treat, I find a creamy coffee with amaretto does the trick for me. It's got a hint of sweetness and takes a while to drink, so you get lots of individual sips of hygge, and the overall carb content isn't nearly as high as it could be. Wishing you strength! I'm not really 'woo' at all, tbh, but would it be worth asking your Dad to kick your brother up the bum/sort it out for you? Even just for your own mind's sake, to make you chuckle at the thought. Sometimes little things like that work well for me, as silly as they sound.

prettybird · 04/10/2024 10:22

Both my father and mother would be horrified but not surprised Hmm at what bb is doing Sad

I've lived with this all my life as the "good older sister" who learnt not to ask for help as he was such a handful. Mum and Dad even acknowledged this after I'd worked it out with a counsellor in my 40s.

But I naively thought that he would stop being a self-centred bully at least until the estate was distributed. I had been giving him the benefit of the doubt until now (it's frustrated the hell out of dh over many years that I keep giving bb slack)

Unfortunately, the "friend of the family" co-executor died before my father so the legal firm who are the remaining executors are stuck in the middle. Sad

Dh is trying to ply me with rooibos to keep me calm Wink. At least it gets my water intake up Grin And I'm trying to resist the call of the tablet that I made recently (for a Woolly Hugs Hugathon in Edinburgh - didn't take it all over).

Public Service Announcement : Lidl has proper (FullFat) Greek Yoghurt back in stock Smile and if you have Lidl Plus, you can get a free tub if you spend more that £100 in a calendar month ArchersGrin

Question to self: what do I use the tub of horrible Greek Style Yoghurt that I'd bought in desperation last month? Confused
