Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

Hmm. Porridge oats definitely aren't low carb! By my calculations, based on Sainsbury's nutritional info for basic porridge oats, that's around 30g carbs for your porridge, before you add the fruit.

However, if it's working for you, and you know it's not causing a sugar spike, then go on ...

... but it's not Bootcamp, just so you know!

I have so much to learn & it's great to have a place where I can. Thank you everyone.

I've become lazy with the low carb. My weight is stable, but I'm eating more convenience food which is inevitably higher in carbs.

Interestingly, since I decided to stop the gluten free, and have eaten more carbs, my migraines have really ramped up. So I'm going to have to go back to strict low carb and see what happens.

DrBlackbird · 11/09/2024 10:16

I’m pleased to have kept off the weight from the spring boot camp but really want to get to my next goal, which is to drop another 5Ibs. This is not happening though. I’ve hovered around the same weight for the last two months.

Not sure if it’s not enough water (I struggle to drink more than 1.5L) or too many ‘small’ lapses as I’m eating a few more nuts as a pre dinner snack than before or too much cream and cheese. Or all three combined?

Have stayed off bread, crisps, cakes, potatoes etc, which I’m happy with. Next boot camp will be a good chance to reset the goals and habits.

WellExactly2 · 11/09/2024 10:19

A week and a half in and I feel back in the swing of it! Probably helps that with a young baby I'm not really doing much in the way of going out and seeing temptation!

Starting weight was 14st 5 and weighed in this morning at 13st 11, got to love the initial whoosh! I think my face looks a bit trimmer. I know it will slow down but hoping to edge close to 13.5 stone in a few weeks.

Im feeling quite sweaty though, I've forgotten if thats normal?

Afternoonteavirgin · 11/09/2024 10:27

I am actually so much happier with my body. I have always been muscular (well, for years) but you couldn't see it under the layer of flab, that has now depleted a lot! I look quite toned. I have been working out more too, to the point a lot of my tops don't fit any longer! I've had to only wear things without sleeves or baggy jumpers.

I am not low carbing this weekend-DP is here and that inevitably involves meals out/in but I will be mindful of not overeating and get straight back onto it on Sunday, so just Friday night and Saturday I'll not low carb-shouldn't undo all the hard work forever.

AnotherNew01 · 11/09/2024 21:27

i am sitting here with a litre of pellegrino - really clears the munchies

Thistle72 · 12/09/2024 09:44

I’m was 10.5 on Tuesday so that’s 2lbs down. I have to say that I have maybe not drank as much water than I should have. But I was happy for that. 😊 I am surprised that the cravings actually go I never thought I could make toast without nibbling some but I did 😇

prettybird · 13/09/2024 15:44

Just a related rant, given how much many of us love FF Greek yoghurt on these threads Wink, but I've given up trying to explain on the "Where is the Greek yoghurt" thread that within the EU, Greek yoghurt can only be made in Greece - and that although the UK has unfortunately left the EU, we still have to abide by that (presumably, either because of the TCA or and? the tubs have "only for the UK" clearly on their labels otherwise there would be problems in NI ). Horrible Greek style yoghurt can and be made anywhere Hmm

In the USA (which is the example that one person in particular uses) they can do what they want - but we were talking about the UK and EU Confused

BIWI · 13/09/2024 19:46

I've posted on the yoghurt thread @prettybird - because a Google of Sainsbury's website shows that Fage is now a 'Greek recipe' yoghurt. So no longer actually made in Greece. Not sure where it's made, but their offices are in Luxembourg.

So better to buy a supermarket's own brand, like Sainsbury's Taste the Difference. Not only is it 10% fat (unlike Fage/Total which only goes up to 5%), but it's also made in Macedonia. So authentically Greek. And delicious!

Asda also do an own brand Greek yogurt.

prettybird · 14/09/2024 22:41

For those that are interested, I managed to find full fat Authentic Greek Yoghurt in Morrisons today (their The Best range). Smile

I bought 2 tubs Grin

Fortunately my local branch of Morrisons is just over the road from the Lidl I go to Wink

prettybird · 14/09/2024 22:41

...and yes, it's produced in Greece Grin

HappyDane · 15/09/2024 09:33

@BIWI hi! It's probably already written somewhere but I hope it's ok to just ask since you're here...are you doing a bootcamp this quarter?

BIWI · 15/09/2024 09:35

Probably in October @HappyDane - just sorting out some final details right now

Thanks @BIWI!

MissBeckIsAtWork · 16/09/2024 12:58

I'll be back in the land of LCing soon. So much going on here it's mad. New bedroom from scratch in progress for DD, preperations being made for upgraded bathroom from council, kitchen being modernised and changed round! Too much going on and scales are buried underneath piles of household goods. 🙄😂

Afternoonteavirgin · 16/09/2024 13:18

I am back on it now, after a weekend of burgers, toast and home-made chips!

Been for a run this morning and had a big salad with tofu, vegan mayo and seeds for lunch.

alwaysonadiet1 · 17/09/2024 10:27

I'm still here. I've been maintaining over the summer, eating carbs but only small portions. I lost about a stone May - July. I have another stone to go so I'll join the next bootcamp and attempt to see it off by Christmas 🍾

Rayna37 · 17/09/2024 10:38

Dipping my toe back in as I think I need to really commit to the next bootcamp! My average floating weight is maybe 5lbs more than a couple of years ago; partly due to being mid 40s RaynaNoLonger37 but not kidding myself that I eat more of the stuff I shouldn't more of the time too. I could do to lose 10lbs to a stone.

Doing "Dry September" post holiday. Generally keep up with low carb food for breakfast and lunch at work and plenty of water on weekdays at least. In the evenings and especially weekends ...could do better!

Also I now have an air fryer so suspect bootcamp could teach me all sorts of amazing things I can use it for.

Rayna37 · 17/09/2024 10:43

@IVbumble porridge can definitely be replaced with better options that involve more veg and protein for meals but when you really want porridge there are lower carb things you can use.

I use a mix of chia seeds, ground flax seeds and ground almonds. A few pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Oat bran is better than actual oats (but still not allowed on bootcamp). This all sounds a bit weird but you can get it all easily, even in Aldi. You can add coconut oil to up the fat content if you feel you need to.

Afternoonteavirgin · 17/09/2024 10:53

I am suffering from my reluctance to remortgage my house for olive oil, for my salads! I've tried using coconut oil but it is a faff melting it before I pour it on. Vegan mayo seems a scarcity in shops now too or at least in Aldi and Lidl which are my closest supermarkets. May have to venture further afield as I need something LC to put on salads. Today's lunch will be vegan 'chicken' fillet and salad with seeds and olives.

NotDonna · 18/09/2024 08:11

I got down to 149lbs for a little moment. But back up and floating around the 151/152 mark again. A long weekend in Copenhagen with danish pastries abound didn’t help.
I’ve upped the exercise now my ankle has healed. So back to Pilates once a week, tennis once or twice a week and last night went to a dance style fitness class, that I’ll also do once a week from now on. It was only 45 mins but I was exhausted!

Lougle · 18/09/2024 08:14

I've somehow lost 1.7lb despite not massively sticking to plan.

StuntNun · 18/09/2024 09:24

I just found out my local coffee shop does a low (ish) carb breakfast. Happy days!
