May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Final weigh-in and ongoing chat

Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

Should read…
Hilariously, ‘happyscale’ says it’ll take 7 years to reach my goal.

BIWI · 30/08/2024 11:13

I had serious pangs of jealously when I thought it read ‘Supper last night was at BIWIs’…

You would have been very welcome Grin

Quick weigh in, but the sheet has run out so can't record, but I haven't weighed for a couple of weeks anyway. 10 stone 7lbs - 67kg. Its gone up since my last official weigh in, but only by a little.

DrBlackbird · 02/09/2024 08:09

Mine has gone back up by just over a lb so a clear indication that even small lapses affect weight gain. The key is obviously planning, which wasn’t happening last week. That led to either being hungry or eating carbs as there were no lchf options in the house.

Sat down over the weekend to write out a weeks meal planning thanks to the many tasty suggestions on these threads and can be back in control.

Edited to add weight: 164.5

MissBeckIsAtWork · 02/09/2024 08:39

@DrBlackbird Totally agree. Planning is my biggest downfall. Despite buying books and writing out recipe cards to make it easier I still just wing it! 😂

BIWI · 02/09/2024 08:46

Next Bootcamp will probably be some time in October. Just hashing out a few details with @FinallyHere

Morning, I started strict boot camp last week and weighed myself this morning and I was 10.10 when started and today 10.7. I am happy with that, I’m a toast monster and have remained in control. That’s a miracle in itself 😂

I have a whiteboard in my kitchen and write on there what we are having for tea every night. I have those ingredients in so no excuse. I find it keeps me focused, my husband and I work in the NHS so I’ve found planning like that helps me to stay on track even before I started boot camp. I get a sense of dread if I don’t, sounds daft I know but it works for me so I’m happy. 😊

FinallyHere · 02/09/2024 09:08

Updated @MissBeck

Lougle · 02/09/2024 09:12

I'm 100g up on last week, so fairly stable. Well done for KOKO.

BIWI · 02/09/2024 09:16

Forward planning is essential to success on Bootcamp @Thistle72! Well done on the loss Flowers

Aunty Flow is visiting here and I wish it wasn't, as I am really wanting to weigh myself but I know that will affect it!

I feel quite lean at the moment after two weeks of continuous low-carbing. I refuse to not socialise or enjoy 'normal' food every now and then, usually every two weeks I 'cheat' for one or two days. It has still worked.

I am struggling with the price of olive oil at the moment! Being a vegan my diet consists of a lot of salad and 'meat subs' or tofu. I can afford it literally but something feels wrong about spending £7 on some bog standard olive oil for one's salad! And I've not found any barenaked noodles in my local supermarket for ages-wonder if they've discontinued selling them!

But I am much happier with my body, even with the cheating. I will join the October boot camp when it begins-and I really do want to weigh myself and continue with this for a long time now. Hopefully I will find some more foods that fit with it-I realise my 'religion' makes it more difficult for me.

BIWI · 02/09/2024 09:59

@Afternoonteavirgin

And I've not found any barenaked noodles in my local supermarket for ages-wonder if they've discontinued selling them!

Most supermarkets stock them, according to the Bare Naked website - but I know that my local Sainsbury's, which is one of their larger stores, only ever has one facing (i.e. one carton containing the packs), and it's right on the top shelf. It often ends up being pushed right to the back, and can frequently be empty!

If you have an Asian supermarket near you, you can buy them there - look for shirataki or konjac noodles.

Afternoonteavirgin · 02/09/2024 10:01

Thank you @BIWI -I do have an Asian supermarket in a neighbouring town, I began to avoid it as the parking was so chaotic and it is in a very dodgy area unfortunately but I may brave it and go back again

Last time I went in there I was looking for poppadums, couldn't find them and asked a member of staff who took me to the pot noodles 😂

VeryGoodVeryNice · 02/09/2024 15:02

I’m excited for another boot camp. Can’t remember when the last one I did ended, Christmas time I think, and my habits have slowly slipped back to pre LC days. One thing that has stayed with me is just not being as hungry as I used to be, so not too much damage has been done yet, but I need to recalibrate my brain because I know which direction this will go in if not.

NotDonna · 02/09/2024 23:06

Well done @Thistle72 what a great start!

AnotherNew01 · 02/09/2024 23:12

I've been trying a OF diet for a little while, so just checking here for inspiration. And motivation. 😳one

AnotherNew01 · 02/09/2024 23:12

LC not OF! That was autocorrect

mimosa1 · 03/09/2024 07:45

Im staring low carbing again and will be posting here for accountability. Hope you're all enjoying the last dregs of summer!

WellExactly2 · 03/09/2024 09:13

Me too! I have an almost 11 month old baby and breastfeeding - have had supply issues so been reluctant to start until now. Not sure of my exact weight, but I think I'm approx 14 st 7, and my ideal weight would be 10 st 7, but would be grateful for losing 2 stone for now! Sleep is terrible so that's been a barrier too.

First week of my meal plan started yesterday, and I had forgotten all about the 'all the water' requirement so after reading this thread I'm going to go fill up my water bottle!

Afternoonteavirgin · 03/09/2024 17:12

I went shopping yesterday and bought some more interesting foods so hopefully will NOT get bored. I will also have a day off this weekend. I am determined not to fall off the waggon so this is the only way. Also gave in and spent about £10000 on a bottle of olive oil 😂

Lougle · 03/09/2024 17:15

I need a collective huddle of sympathy. Today, I had a flat tyre. I had to spend literally hours sorting it out. Meanwhile, my Sainsbury's delivery arrived and my children kindly brought it in.

Imagine my horror, when I opened the fridge door, and instead of finding the 3 pots of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Authentic Greek Yoghurt 10% fat that I had ordered, I found one pot of Fage 0% Greek Yoghurt.

It is the day that keeps on giving.

BIWI · 03/09/2024 17:15

Don't forget to check out the recipes in the Low Carb recipe topic!

BIWI · 03/09/2024 17:17

(That was for @Afternoonteavirgin)!

@Lougle at least you only have one pot. Go and buy yourself some clotted cream and mix that up with the yoghurt. It will be delicious.
